The Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit stud stopped by the Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday, Jan. 16 and was ambushed by the host with his incredibly endearing and dorky high school yearbook photo. DeGeneres started their sit-down interview by explaining to the audience how Pine, 33, grew up in the business: the dreamy actor's dad Robert Pine played Sgt. Joseph Getraer on CHiPs, a beloved NBC cop show that ran from 1977 to 1983. To show the resemblance between father and son, DeGeneres then shared an image with the audience of the elder Pine and proceeded to swap that for a throwback pic of the Star Trek star. The black and white picture reveals the actor once had a mullet and scruffy beard in his awkward teenage years. Immediately flustered, Pine glanced at the snapshot and laughed, turned to Ellen and said, "Well, I'll be seeing you later." The blonde-haired, blue-eyed hunk added, "I don't really know what…" "At the time, I'm sure it was important to have," DeGeneres joked of Pine's mullet and scruff in the picture. "What year is that?" she asked. "1998 or something," he responded. The show host then graciously added, "We all should get a pass in the '90s. No one wants to see themselves in the '90s." "You can take the picture down now," joked the embarrassed actor. Pine, who clearly matured into a beautiful swan in his later years, was relieved of the funny photo once DeGeneres pulled out a brown paper bag filled with "Chris Pine Fresheners."
