Apr 27, 2010 02:22 PM ETby Joyce Eng

Bret Michaels will undergo surgery to relieve swelling around his brain, according to Entertainment Tonight.

A source close to Michaels' family told ET that the 47-year-old rocker and Celebrity Apprentice contestant will undergo the surgery soon, as his condition has deteriorated since suffering a brain hemorrhage Thursday, ET reported.

Calls and e-mails to Michaels' rep were not immediately returned.

Trump: Bret Michaels' "prognosis is not great"

As of Monday morning, Michaels remained in the ICU under 24-hour care while doctors continued testing to locate the source of his bleeding, according to an update on his Facebook page.

  2. There is an interview on TMZ with Michael right now. He is just railing into Dina. Apparently he claims this stuff with the cops has been in the works since yesterday and it is all a part of getting Ali out of there and conservatorship for Lindsay. I'm listening to it now, so I haven't heard the whole thing yet.

  3. Or maybe Tom did something to piss off his scientology overlords.

I love the look on her face in that Enquirer photo. I can just see her , "You're f-ing kidding me, right? You think I can pretend like I didn't know this???"

  4. But they left out the most annoying part to me personally:

"No woman just stays at home with the kids anymore. Tiger was wrong and Elin was ignoring the obvious ;^) "

    and really...

"Tiger Woods owes nothing 2 anyone but himself. 2 please his father he gave up his childhood and his freedom in the world. That's enough!---> "

Sorry, but lots of women stay home with the kids. Nothing wrong with that. And really - that Tiger owes nothing to anyone but himself might fly if he HADN"T MADE A COMMITMENT to his wife and children. Not to mention the STDs he could have given his wife and kids. He owes them a hell of a lot.

Jim Carrey is famous because he talks out of his ass. That clearly works well for him!

  5. This is a shame. It looks like in this case (for a change) his primary care doctor was actually doing as much as he could do to help this man. You hear too many stories of Drs giving pills and looking the other way. It really sounds like he was trying to do right by him.

Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- California's top law enforcement official will reveal details of how he says former child actor Corey Haim got dangerous drugs in the days before his death.

Attorney General Jerry Brown called a news conference for Tuesday to discuss "Corey Haim's 'doctor shopping' in the final weeks of his life," Brown's office said.

The coroner has not yet ruled on what killed Haim, 38, who died last month after collapsing at the Los Angeles apartment he shared with his mother.

Haim obtained drugs using prescriptions written under the names of 20 Los Angeles doctors in the past year, Los Angeles County Deputy Coroner Ed Winter said last month. The coroner subpoenaed medical records from those doctors, Winter said.

Although Haim battled drug addiction for decades, his manager said his death came when Haim "was making major progress" with a program to wean him from pills.

Still, Haim sometimes threatened to find other doctors to prescribe him drugs when his primary physician wouldn't give him what he wanted, manager Mark Heaslip said Monday.

"I would be the only one who could talk him out of it," Heaslip told CNN Monday night.

His doctor was providing pills only in one-day supplies in an effort to wean him, Heaslip said.

Haim's primary care doctor would constantly follow up with urgent care centers that he believed were writing prescriptions for Haim, Heaslip said. The doctor later gave the information to investigators, he said.

Haim got two powerful drugs from a pharmacy just 11 days before his death, a source with knowledge of the transaction told CNN.

Haim had a prescription for the muscle relaxer Soma and the narcotic pain reliever Norco filled at a pharmacy February 26, the source said.

Two days after Haim personally picked up the drugs, his primary care doctor called the San Fernando Valley pharmacy to ask about the prescriptions, the source said.

The coroner is waiting for toxicology results, expected later this month, before deciding if drugs were involved in the death of the 1980s teen movie actor, Winter said.

An autopsy revealed that Haim suffered from pneumonia, an enlarged heart and water in his lungs when he collapsed March 10, Winter said.

Heaslip said he and Haim's family are convinced his death was not from a drug overdose, but was perhaps a bad reaction to a single pill he took in the hours before his death.

The pills, prescribed by an addiction specialist, came with a warning that it should not be taken by someone with a heart condition or flu-like symptoms, both of which Haim had, Heaslip said.

"This kid was making major progress," Heaslip said.

His manager said that if Haim was cheating on his addiction program, he would likely not have admitted it to him since he would have dropped Haim as a client.

Brown, who is running for governor of California, has been quick to publicize what state drug agents have found as they probe Haim's death.

State investigators know that Haim obtained "massive amounts" of legal drugs "in what looks to me like a questionable manner because of so many doctors," Brown said.

"How many people go to 10 or 15 or 20 doctors and then run around to 10, 12 and more pharmacies to go fulfill them and sometimes two different doctors in the same day?" Brown asked.

Haim began his acting career in 1982 with his first television appearance in 1982 on the Canadian series "The Edison Twins." His first film role was in the 1984 American movie "First Born."

Haim also won rave reviews for his title role in the 1986 film "Lucas." Film critic Roger Ebert said of him at the time, "If he continues to act this well, he will never become a half-forgotten child star, but will continue to grow into an important actor."

His most famous role was in the 1987 movie "The Lost Boys," in which Haim played a fresh-faced teenager whose brother becomes a vampire.

In recent years, the actor was reunited with longtime friend and frequent co-star Corey Feldman in a reality show. "The Two Coreys" ran for two seasons on the A&E Network before it was canceled.

  6. she hosted a party a few weeks ago in London for money...she probaly just signed over her paycheck to her landlord.

Asmuch as I think her dad is a douche, at least he is saying get help. Her mom is shutting out everyone and it's really not possible for him to get to her if she doesn't want him to. If my kid were killing themself and I had no other way to get to them, I'd be screaming it from the rooftops too. Honestly, with the limits the family has put on him with protective orders, what options does he have? At some point you have to try everything so that you can know you did. What really makes me blood boil is Dina. She is totally denying and enbling this. If/when anything happens, she will be the first one out there trolling for sympathy and writing a book about it. I hope to god that if that does happen, the media totally shuts her out and refuses to support her after she helps to kill her own daughter. Any reasonable parent would be doing something, anything, to get this girl some help.

  7. Chloe Sevigny: "Men Are Intimidated By Me''

Chloe Sevigny has claimed that she intimidates men.

Seriously? I think men are more interested in the fact that women who give blowjobs in movies are porn stars. Not a lot of classy guys looking to take you home for dinner with Grandma when they have THAT to talk about over dinner.

Kind of puts you in a different dating class. Get your head out of your pretentious ass and realize you are not all that.

  8. Jude Law Silent On Baby

Interviewer Ravish said to him: "According to the National Enquirer in December 2008, you impregnated a woman..."

Ok, that WAS an SNL skit... it was a joke. Is someone pulling that totally out of context or am I reading the article wrong.

  9. I have read all of the books and series noted here. I bought the audiobook of Betsy Tacy for a car ride with my daughter and we have the whole collection for when she can read it on her own. I bought all of the Trixie Belden releases a few years ago (mine got destroyed in a musty basement) but they stopped the reissues after about 12 books.

  10. Willie Wonka kids;

    Posted Image

    Augustus, Violet, Mike, Veruca, Charlie

    the highlights:

    • We were thrilled when sweet and genuine little Charlie Bucket won a lifetime supply of chocolate in the film. Nowadays, Peter Ostrum fills up buckets of cow patties and other fun stuff as a large animal veterinarian in Glenfield, New York. Hey, he kind of resembles the Candy Man with that killer 'stache.

    • Violet Beauregarde was a precocious gum chewer who eventually turned into a blueberry. After getting one more gig on the soap opera "Dark Shadows," actress Denise Nickerson turned into an accountant at an engineering plant with a bad haircut.

    • Augustus Gloop drowned in a chocolate river. If I had to go, that's how I'd want it. Now Michael Bollner is drowning in a sea of success as a tax attorney in Munich. Go Gloop!

    • Veruca Salt was a spoiled brat who wanted it all ... NOW! It was even rumored that she wanted little Peter Ostrum behind the scenes. So what did Julie Dawn Cole end up with? A successful career in theater, television, and fitness. Oh ... and two kids. Not too shabby.

    • It was impossible to pull Mike Teevee away from the tube. Since then Paris Themmen has played a whole lotta roles. He was a commercial casting agent, a film production member, a Disney Imagineering employee, a retail salesman, a real estate agent, and a finance guy. He even started his own website, where he sells autographs. Maybe TV does rot your brain.

  11. Been there, done that. I think every parent I know has that first ER visit (usually for a head accident that bleeds like hell and then ends up being a teeny tiny little cut). Then you feel like an idiot when you realize it. Now my kids just bang themselves around all the time and I hardly notice it's so routine!

  12. House Hunter

Kate Hudson went apartment hunting with Ryder, 5, and Alex Rodriguez (not pictured) in New York City Thursday.

I also read an article somewhere this week claiming she was pregnant.

  13. Considering he is high on everyone's BI guess list, I was suprised to not find a thread for him when I searched the forum. But anyway...

The drama-filled town of Port Charles is going to be hosting a movie star soon. And not the kind of make-believe movie star who is secretly the long-lost brother of the woman who was abducted by aliens before awakening from a coma with amnesia – we're talking a real movie star.

That's right: James Franco is joining the cast of General Hospital for two months.

Franco, 31, will be playing a mysterious new character who will torment romantically challenged mobster Jason Morgan starting Nov. 20.

According to SoapNet, it was Franco who approached the makers of the soap opera about joining the show.

"We are thrilled to announce that James Franco will play an integral part in a lengthy run on General Hospital this fall," executive producer Jill Farren Phelps told SoapNet. "It's an honor that an actor of James' caliber would choose to spend some of his valuable time in Port Charles."

  14. Oh - Easy Reader - what have you done!?!

Sorry, this made me actually laugh out loud.

    But, WHAT?

Back when I was a kid and Morgan Freeman was Easy Reader on Electric Company I thought he was like the "coolest cat on the planet." To this day I have warm fuzzy feelings about him because of that. But uh - warm fuzzies can only carry a person so far.

  15. Yesterday I just happened to watch "I Dream of Jeannie" for the first time in about 20 years. Phil Spector was on it as himself and not having ever seen him before the mug shot - I was shocked by how... uncrazy... he looked.

  16. CZJ is probably in her late 40's.

When she first hit the scene, she was reported to be youmger than me and I was shocked. Then within a few years she was suddenly older than me. It was very odd. But really - where are the high school year books. They have them in Wales, right? Can't someone just show her big bushy eyebrowed photos and come clean with it?

  17. I wanted Stefano Dionisi, but he's my age!! The powers that be need to CGI Edward into what we all see in our heads when we think of him...Good choice , Bellie...Taylor has got "THE EYES"!

I don't know who I would cast, but I know I would NOT cast the people they did. I do LOVE Taylor on FNL. He is so hot, and could totally be Edward. I just hate that they have to blonde up people who aren't blonde. I like JJ Field for Carlisle. I've seen him in a bunch of Masterpiece Theater stuff and have really liked him. He's maybe a bit too old, but in my mind, he works.

  18. Based on comments here, I just read the first two Eloisa James books. While I DID enjoy them, they were a little heavy on the romance and a little light on the Regency. Also, I don't know that I can like Alex. He is such an ass. Hard to reconcile him to the Alex in the next book. Do her later books focus as much on the romance (and the sex) or is there more of a balance? I mean, I'm gonna read them, because they are quick and easy and enjoyable, but just not exactly my cup of tea. That's why I preferred the Lauren Willig books. I'm too picky, I know!

  19. She flew from London to Brazil to have a cyst removed? I have read enough about how much Brazilians love plastic surgery to be asking what the hell kind of crazy new plastic surgery have they invented that you can only get there. Because this story reeks! Either the reporting is very bad and she was already in Brazil, or that crazy lasy is trying something totally new. Maybe a personality implant?

  20. Oh yeah, I watched Tipping the Velvet a couple months ago--very good. Might have to look up those books!

I came back from vacation to get a voicemail that the new Lauren WIllig is waiting for me at the library

I just finished it last night. Are there any other authors similar to her. Light on romance, but still regency? Also, from a later period, I have been running through the Anne Perry Monk and Pitt series of mystery books. Easy and light, plus the extra creep factor of her really being a murderess!
