Robert DeNiro and his wife Grace Hightower have bought the exclusive Central Park West, New York City apartment that was formerly owned by movie mogul Harvey Weinstein's ex Eve.

“The Taxi Driver” star paid a whopping $23 million for the 15-room pad, according to New York society magazine "Gotham." The DeNiro's new home features high ceilings, tree-top views of Central Park, a library, a large chef's kitchen and a state-of-the-art projection room.

According to the publication, the actor and his wife have been house hunting since selling their Tribeca apartment a year ago.

The DeNiro's new neighbors in the block include rocker Sting and his wife Trudi Styler.

The Game invited rap rival 50 Cent to help remix his hit "It’s Okay (One Blood)" in an effort to end their length feud.

The California rapper reveals he called 50's manager Chris Lighty to ask his one-time mentor to collaborate with him in the studio, but the plan was a no-go. The Game says, "I reached out to 50 to see if he was going to be a part of the remix.

"Chris Lighty thought I was joking - 50, that's my archnemesis. He ended up saying no, which I expected, but I'm such a funny guy, I thought I'd do it anyway - just to say I did." The Game would like to see an end to rap's "beefs", but he won't play peacemaker. He tells urban magazine Vibe, "I'd really love for hip-hop to be unified again, where there was no beefing with anybody."

Photographs of Eddie Muphy's ex-girlfriend Melanie Brown frolicking in Hawaii with her so-called 'mystery man' have been published in British newspaper the "News Of The World."

The Hollywood star allegedly dumped former Spice Girl Brown after being handed another set of snaps last month, showing the singer reportedly enjoying an illicit date with the male friend in Los Angeles.

The images published in the newspaper today (17DEC06) - showing a scantily-clad Brown and her companion relaxing on the beach - were shot in May (06) - just weeks before Brown started dating Murphy and immediately becoming pregnant.

Murphy actor reportedly hired a team of private detectives to follow Brown after becoming convinced she was cheating on him, and he ended their relationship.

Brown and Murphy started dating in June (06), but the Hollywood star cut all ties with the former Spice Girl earlier this month (05DEC06) and he's now demanding a DNA test to determine whether he's the father of her unborn baby. An eyewitness of Brown's summer frolics tells the tabloid, "Mel and this fella were all over each other and quite obviously a couple. They couldn't keep their hands off each other."

A source close to Murphy adds, "Everyone thought it was suspicious that Mel fell pregnant so quickly after getting together with Eddie. Now he thinks the same. After seeing these photos he's convinced he's not the dad. "And he won't believe any different until DNA tests are carried out after the baby is born.

As far as Eddie's concerned this mystery man had as much chance of fathering the child as he did."

She's told to carry alarm...

HEATHER Mills has been given a panic alarm by police after gangsters threatened to attack her.

Sources say underworld figures targeted the 38-year-old in revenge for claims she made about estranged husband Sir Paul McCartney, 64, during their bitter divorce battle.

Heather is now terrified she or their daughter Beatrice will be harmed.

Her spokesman said last night: "She is frightened, but she's more worried about Bea than anything else. She has been told who these characters are and the worrying thing is that they have a violent past.

"The problem is she can't really do anything to protect herself apart from keep a watchful eye."

Police gave Heather, who lives in Hove, East Sussex, a panic phone which connects straight to their HQ, and offered other security tips.

They warned her about the danger of the shadowy figures behind the threats, but insisted an attack was "not imminent". Officers also spoke to Macca.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: "On Thursday, 14 December, information was received from police in the Merseyside area which indicated a non-specific threat towards Heather Mills-McCartney.

"Police can confirm she was spoken to by officers and was fully informed of the information, including details of the names of individuals involved.

"Police are satisfied there is no imminent risk to her.

"Local officers have been briefed regarding the circumstances and provision has been made for an immediate police response should this be necessary."

Heather has been deluged by hate messages on her website since she accused Macca in divorce papers of physically abusing her during their four-year marriage.

She also claimed she received several death threats due to the custody battle for Beatrice, three.

Heather, who split from Macca in May, has said she feels vulnerable because she does not have enough money to pay for any private security.

She has also enlisted the help of her personal trainer Ben Amigoni to protect her.

Her spokesman refused to discuss reports Sir Paul has won the fight to spend Christmas with Beatrice.

He added: "I don't know whether that's true or not, but Heather's view is that it's nobody else's business."

Heather put on a brave face over the gangland threats when she took her pet terrier Oliver to a vet in Brighton. The dog appeared to have damaged his right hind leg which was swathed in bandages.

Heidi Klum Says Giving Birth's A Piece of Cake

Well, Miss Heidi, maybe it is for people who have Super Model powers. I have a feeling, I'm going to be a complete and utter mess when I finally decide to have children, but I digress. From ContactMusic.com:

And right now, you're out," and then her uterus tells the tot, "Auf Wiedersehen!"

Oprah Puts The Kibosh on Random House

Famed unauthorized biographer to the stars, Kitty Kelley has long been trying to get someone to back her plan to tell Oprah's life story. And it looks like someone finally saw fit to take the bait--Crown Publishing. According to Galleycat:

Signing on for editing duties is Peter Gethers - an editor-at-large with Random House as a whole who does not report to anyone in the Crown Publishing Group. When reached for comment, Gethers stated he would not be answering specific questions about the deal and referred me to Crown's Vice President of Publicity, Tina Constable (attempts to reach her by telephone and email are still pending.)

For another, sources tell GalleyCat that there's a good reason the deal language Marketplace quotes, where "Crown group president Jenny Frost takes responsibility for the buy," is deliberate. Why? Evidently the deal was news to most of the Crown editorial staff. "Between this book and James Frey, she's never going to touch another Random House author," said our tipster.

Yeah, I don't know. If it were me, I probably wouldn't F with Oprah. Personally, I may have to avoid Random House myself, because my fantasy of having my novel published has pretty much always included getting my ass into Oprah's Book Club--that's pretty much the only reason TO write a book, really.

Shakira Shakes Hips For The Good of All Mankind

USA Today reports that Shakira is starting a charitable foundation with a respected author.

Shakira joined with fellow Colombian and Nobel Prize laureate Gabriel Garcia Marquez on Tuesday to launch a star-studded foundation to fight child poverty in Latin America.

Backed by the two Colombians and other luminaries of entertainment and finance, the Latin America in Solidarity Action -- whose Spanish acronym is ALAS, or "wings" -- took flight with a promise to tackle poverty that kills 350,000 children each year in the region.

"We all have to do our part to fight against inequality," Shakira said in a news release issued prior to the launching ceremony at the National Theater.

"Latin America has some devastating statistics," added Garcia, citing the 350,000 children under 5 who die from causes linked to poverty, and the 40 million minors who work in the street.

Other musicians supporting the effort include Ruben Blades, Juanes, Ricky Martin, the rock group Mana, Aleks Syntek, David Bisbal and Alejandro Sanz.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell says she’s a misunderstood woman. Campbell says stories of her abusing her assistants were blown out of proportion. She feels she’s a target because people have agendas.

Campbell admits she has to be careful with whom she hangs around, and she’s proud of the fact she doesn’t drink or do drugs anymore.

Naomi has been arrested several times for abusing her foreign assistants.

Fantasia is back with a new, self-titled album, and she’s excited about going on the road. She is scheduled to go on tour with Jamie Foxx. Jamie feels like he owes Fantasia. He tried to get her a role in the Dreamgirls movie, but when she went public with her reading problems, she lost out on the role.

Jamie Foxx is a big fan of Fantasia’s, so he’s letting her go on tour with him. She was very disappointed when she didn’t get the movie role despite the help of two Oscar winners, Jamie Foxx and Denzel Washington.

Beyonce refuses to rush into marriage, even though tabloid reports regularly claim she is set to wed Jay-Z. Beyonce insists, she is taking her time before becoming Mrs. Shawn Carter.

Will Smith's son Jaden once wrecked his father's plans to throw a huge birthday surprise for his wife, Jada. Jaden found it heartbreaking to lie to his mother. The young actor was left confused and upset by the little white lies his father asked him to tell his mom-in order to keep her birthday celebration a big surprise. Will recalls, "I'm flying high school friends in, all of that stuff and we made a video for her birthday and she knew nothing about any of this. "The night before, Jaden comes in the room and he's crying and he said, 'I need to talk to you...Why are you making me lie to mommy? "I said, 'Well, what do you mean? and he said, 'Mommy asked me what we're doing tomorrow and I had to tell her a lie.' And I was like, 'Yeah, but that's a lie, right? Daddy, my stomach hurts and I can't sleep. I don't want to lie to my mommy. Can we wake her up? I have to tell her 'cause I'm getting sick.'

"I was like, 'Wow, how can you argue with that? He went and told his mommy everything. He's so deeply connected to human emotion."

TALK about a meeting of minds. Party animal Kate Moss has struck up a friendship with Amy "Wino" Winehouse after a marathon boozing session on Tuesday night.

It started quietly enough at a party for Ray-Ban's Wayfarer sunglasses, after which they moved to a local London pub. Then the pair went back to 23-year-old Amy's house to carry on partying with Sadie Frost, Kelly Osbourne and Bobby Gillespie until 5am.

Our mole tells us: "Amy and Kate were all over each other. They were even holding hands at one point.

"Kate was going through Amy's wardrobe saying how much she loved her manic outfits." Kate, 32, was also on hand to dish the dirt on hunky Bond star Daniel Craig - who she dated in 2004.

Our mole adds: "Amy kept going on about how she thought Daniel had an amazing body and was quizzing Kate about what he was like in the sack.

"She said she wanted to sing the next Bond theme tune so she could get to meet him."

Black Eyed Pea Fergie was suitably impressed by nude photos of boyfriend Josh Duhamel before they started dating but insists the snaps don't do him justice.

Jada Pinkett Smith has donated $1 million to the Baltimore School for the Arts, asking that its new theater be dedicated to classmate Tupac Shakur, who was shot and killed in 1996. The 35-year-old actress graduated from the high school in 1989.

"It means a lot when you're a teacher and your most famous alumnus comes back to give a donation," said Donald Hicken, head of the school's theater department since its founding in 1980 and Pinkett Smith's former theater teacher. "It really says a lot to the community that the school matters in people's lives."

The donation from the Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation, which is based in Baltimore, will be used for renovation and expansion. The school, which announced the donation Monday, said it will name its new theater for Pinkett Smith.

Pinkett Smith wanted the theater named for Shakur because of the friendship they developed at the school. The rapper died after a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas.

SACHA BARON COHEN: SPLIT PERSONALITY

The holidays are here and we feel obligated to warn hosts inviting Sacha Baron Cohen to Hanukkah festivities that the Borat star is very particular.

Cohen has a lot to celebrate because an LA judge just refused to halt the DVD release of Borat because of the college boys lawsuit against him. Back when Sasha was better known as Ali G, he was invited to a Jewish holiday meal and the day before the dinner, Cohen interrogated the host about the food.

The actor needed to establish that the food would be absolutely kosher and he asked many questions including what kind of plates the edibles would be served on. The host admitted a few of the dishes weren't strictly kosher and Cohen thanked him and chose to eat elsewhere. It's hard to believe this is the same guy who wears a day-glo thong.

STELLA McCartney has had a baby girl and named her after her mum Linda.

Sir Paul McCartney's fashion designer daughter, 35, gave birth to Bailey Linda Olwyn Willis who weighed 7lb 14oz.

She is Stella's second child with former magazine publisher Alasdhair Willis. The couple already have a son.

Stella's spokesman said: "Everyone's doing well - they're delighted."
