I’m fascinated to know what prompted the Guardian to focus on it, and why now. If someone could leak that to the papers I’d appreciate it. 😂

Apparently I sat next to Adam Driver in the lounge at LAX in 2014. I had no idea, but my husband recognised him as he’d not long been cast in Star Wars. He was probably flying to filming now I think about it 😂 If you count British comedians as celebs, i get the chance to do a bit of spotting of them every August. Except it’s too busy here then so I never really leave the house 😂

One of the shows to blame for my interest in American high school culture, as a kid in 90s U.K. it was shown during school summer holidays and seemed so exotic! So fast, and no age at all.

We are back in full lockdown in Scotland for at least 3 weeks, trying to stop the new faster transmitting strain that’s been identified in the UK. I was disappointed that we still had tourists travelling here over the festive season; our travel and quarantine procedures have just not been strong enough IMO. And we are not being hugely helped by the fact BoJo refuses to put England back into full lockdown again even though they’re way worse hit. He’s only locked down some bits but his trouble is, no one seems to trust him any more.

British tabloids reporting he’s dating Hayley atwell (I think his MI costar? And agent Carter in marvel) now. No word on whether this is to detract from #MIaskgate, a hashtag I have just invented.

Haha I hate myself for going to the Daily Mail website every time, but I take some comfort in the fact I don’t know who half the people they feature these days are!

Pippa still gets papped walking around a fair bit, the Daily Mail are forever publishing the shots, but there’s not much to be said alongside them. I don’t have a sense she’s setting the shots up, I think it’s proximity to the crown that prompts the interest.

I’m all in for Anne, I just feel like we’d have a great time together rolling our eyes at folk and scathingly huffing “nonsense” under our breaths.

Kate and William didn’t necessarily get the warm welcome they were hoping for in either Scotland or Wales on that train trip - the respective first ministers basically strongly inferred they didn’t think the trip was a great idea given both countries have stringent covid travel restrictions at present. 😂 Charles and camilla are apparently not coming to balmoral for NY, as is traditional, as a result of the travel restrictions. William and Kate were technically allowed to travel under the rules as it was “work”, but holidays are non essential even if you’re heir to the throne.

I think someone who’s got a fish fetish is enjoying getting these blind items published. Are there no standards any more?!? 😂

It’s good that these things are more and more openly discussed, and I admire Meghan (and others like her, thinking of Chrissy teigan for example) for being willing to share personal feelings like this. I have a friend who lost a baby at 20 weeks and I know she still finds it so hard.

Using English legal terms, guess is the property always belongs to the Crown in terms of freehold, but can then be contractually leased (gifted) to whomever (Harry here) which would result in rent being payable under the lease. You can separate freehold and leasehold in England and indeed I think it’s fairly standard in their property market (when you buy a house, you’re buying a long leasehold rather than freehold). (disclaimer: all guesses and I’m in Scotland where it’s more common to hold freehold for your house).

Before I commented above I tried to do a quick check to see if they did rent it. I read that Harry and Meghan have had to pay rent up front for Frogmore cottage, at this link from one of our main tv channels https://www.itv.com/news/2020-09-24/harry-and-meghan-pay-substantial-up-front-rent-for-frogmore-cottage My assumption was they are effectively subletting it to Eugenie, and trying to recoup that upfront rent from the people who’ll be living there

If H&M have to pay rent on it, I see no reason why that shouldn’t be on-charged.

Only 9 years old! I thought it was young too. I assume they’ll get another, I read Kate’s brother has a lot of dogs from the same litter so they’re clearly a dog family. Although my parents lost their last dog at about the same age, she developed stomach issues and they tried everything but in the end it was kinder to let her go.

Saddest royal news of all: Lupo, the Cambridges’ dog, passed away.

Prince Harry turned up (via video call) on Strictly Come Dancing (the original U.K. version of dancing with the stars) tonight for a good luck chat with one of the contestants, a former marine who took part in invictus. sadly/fortunately he did not dance.

Last Crucade is probably my favourite of all of his films, he was also much admired for his ability to remain 100% Scottish regardless of character. 🤣 I was a teenager when he got the freedom of the city here, and while shopping we stumbled across the crowd waiting to see him outside the Balmoral hotel. Amazing turnout of people for basically the chance to glimpse him for a few seconds.

We named the dog Indiana! Being from Edinburgh, this one hurts.

Feel like old Dom might live to regret putting himself in the spotlight over the “delighted Trumps got covid” thing. I’m assuming that was why a pap was following him in Italy, looking for dirt.

Wiki suggests the step back was from honorary military appointments, which are the ones mentioned here, and shows his service related rank separately, but I don’t know enough about ranks versus appointments to know what’s going on to be honest!
