    Famous Mismatched Couples

Lyle Lovett doesn't have a thread anywhere and I didn't want to start one, but I have to repeat what my mom and I have said for years - when he sings, we KNOW how Julia Roberts could have married him. Saw him in concert last night- he's just amazing. After all these years, and all the hardships he's had (that bad accident where he was crushed by a bull) His voice is just amazing, and he has such a dry but lively wit. I could watch him for hours. It was worth staying out until midnight and then having to get up at 6am for work :4biggrin:

    Kelsey Grammer & Camille Donatacci

It was my understanding from the earlier Page Six report that most of the money to Camille would come from her partnership in his production company, not a divorce payout because there was no prenup. Guess it doesn't really matter - he didn't get a prenup AND he made her a production company partner, she was guaranteed to get money from somewhere!

    Jesse James

I love her. Same here. Although I think she wishes him the best more for the sake of the children then for him. That's fair. Probably true. I really like that she's saying - I don't want people talking for me or imagining what I'm thinking or saying. This is my statement - so let us just get on with our lives......

    Jesse James

http://www.lvrj.com/news/james--reality-tv...-100748139.html There's a little more about their date & sightings in Vegas if you go to the column - link above - that paper is getting pissy about posting on blogs so I'm limiting the quotation...
  6. I think materially she gets what she wants. She might even get something emotionally. But what about sex & intimacy? Do you think she's someone who doesn't care, doesn't need it (interesting article on the new Asexual movement in the August Marie Claire magazine...) I guess she could have a pool boy of her own, but probably not an ongoing relationship - I think Tommy is too much of a control freak/alpha dog to allow that. Call me traditional, but I cannot imagine a marriage without love AND intimacy.....(I can imagine losing some of it due to illness as we age - but by then, we'll have been together for decades and have all those years of warm memories....I can't imagine being in a relationship where I've never had it and never will)
  7. Really? I think the bs about the applause abotu makes me vomit, so that gets my vote :4biggrin:

    Kelsey Grammer & Camille Donatacci

Don't feel bad for Camille - she was a partner in his production company and I read on Page Six this morning she gets $30M in the divorce...... Well, ok, feel a little bad for Camille, 'cause Grammer apparently can't keep his prick in his pants, but don't worry that she'll suffer in poverty or anything ;-)

    Brad and Angelina

This was the best lesson my mother ever taught me (though when she was teaching it, it applied to a marriage - it comes in handy elsewhere!)

    Brad and Angelina

Some kids DO care what they wear. I have a niece (5 last month) who has ONLY wanted to wear dresses since she was 2. And they lived in Alaska then! Try telling a stubborn drama queen 2 yr old she can't wear a dress because it's too cold......(compromise - dress OVER jeans ;-) So (in my admittedly limited personal experience) it seems you could have all extremes - from very specific ideas about what to wear to not caring at all. Of all the things Brad & Angie do, what their kids wear bothers me the least ;-) As in, not at all. Whether it's the kids' choice or the parents'.

    Brad and Angelina

I have a bunch of nieces & nephews. In one family, there are three girls, age 7, 5 1/2 and 2. The older girls dress the youngest girl AND she wears lots of hand-me-downs. Doesn't take too much of a stretch to think something similar might be going on with Shiloh and her older siblings. Maybe she really does want to dress like her brothers. I'm leaning this way (that it's more Shiloh's desire than her parents being idiots and pushing their agenda) simply because all the kids dress differently. We've seen Zahara wearing cute dresses, etc. It's partially our own damn fault. Does anyone notice when the little girl down the street wears HER hair really short? No. But put their photo in People every week and BOOM we all have opinions (PS similar comments by same type of people now about Emma Watson's haircut and how it makes her a lesbian. Gak) http://www.laineygossip.com/Emma_Watson_vi...D=0&CelID=0

    Brad and Angelina

Fucking idiots. I completely and totally agree with Lainey when she goes on rants about the "minivan majority". Short hair does NOT make a girl a lesbian. Geesh. My mom cut my hair because i hated to have it washed or combed - she wasn't going to deal with the constant battles so she kept it short. As for boys swim trunks - well, my mom had trouble keeping me in any clothing at all, so...... Fucking idiots. And for once, I do NOT mean Angelina and Brad

    Jake Gyllenhaal

Maybe the woman said something to him as she walked by and that's why Jake's looking but no one else is. It's a couple of photos - we have no way of knowing what happened, really. And yeah, NO ONE is as bad as Tom Cruise. Because he'll sue your ass ;-)

Lindsay Lohan still broke and a mess

    Wow. So very sad.

    What are you reading?

I loved it!! Finished it in 4 days. (work days - not vacation days ;-) I recommend it. Of course, I got mine at the library so it's no risk....

    Episodes staring Matt LeBlanc

http://www.vogue.com/voguedaily/2010/07/th...isten-mcmenamy/ It's just not right, somehow.

I like it too. I like a lot of women with grey hair, but some - the shade isn't great. It really sucks to have to dye grey - something silvery or less ashy or whatever looks better with your complexion. Have you seen any of the new Kristen McMenamy photos around? (not sure how old you are - she was big in the grunge 90s, she's a mother of 4 and age 45 now, back on runways and in Vogue) I love her really interesting look and think she's great as a model, but I think her shade of hair doesn't look great on her. I saw a photo today but can't find it now - thought it was on vogue.com or fashionista.com but no luck so far. I'll post if I find it.

    What are you reading?

Just started Furious Love - about Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton - I think this is going to go fast - and be good! Reviews I've seen have all been good too.....

    Sara Gilbert

Yeah, I knew about the wife and the kids - it was easy to find online (I remember looking it up when she was pregnant and seeing that her wife carried one and she carried the other and thinking that's a good idea!)

    Sam Worthington

So true. When I fantasize about a celebrity, it's just a fantasy. There's no conversation after dinner, there's no "what did you do today" or "where should we go on vacation" talks, there's just fantasizing of a physical nature. OK, maybe when I fantasize about Tony Bourdain I fantasize a little conversation. But in general - no, not a dealbreaker for me. That said - Worthington doesn't do it for me personally....

    John Krasinski and Emily Blunt

I saw those photos earlier and I have to say that John is filling out his t-shirt and jeans really nicely. Yum. Marriage clearly agrees with him!

Closeted gays and their beards? :4biggrin:

    I got married

    Congratulations!!! Happy happy!!
  24. I love Tudor England history - fiction & non-fiction. I just (yesterday!) finished reading Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel (fiction) - about Thomas Cromwell's rise to prominence as a protege of Cardinal Wolsey then through the split from Rome & Henry's divorce, marriage to Anne etc. The reason I was interested in Windsor/Wallis again is because I was reading about it again in the New York Social Diary. (http://www.newyorksocialdiary.com/node/1902974 ) They do some really interesting social history pieces every so often - really fascinating. Last year a column I read there got me into the Mitford sisters so I read a bunch about them. I seem to be drawn to the period in between the world wars. I suppose I'll just start with "Man who would be king" and go from there.....
