I routinely bitch about the copy editing/writing in my local twice a week newspaper, but I realize I live in a very small town in the rural south and their labor pool probably isn't all that deep or wide. But companies that make as much money as OK! and other national tabloidy places should at least be able to pay an English major or two for proper spelling & grammar, right?? Youngsters today rely too heavily on spell check, but that doesn't help with stupidity (or homonyms....) [yeah, I know, I sound like a crotchety old woman....so be it ]

Quantum of SOLACE, eh OK! Geez.....The quality of reporting these days just sucks

I really like the name Honor. It's the rest of the situation (and "explanation") that annoy the heck out of me. Honor sounds like a nice old-fashioned name (Chastity, Joy, Prudence--all those good Puritan names )

    Dolly Parton

I love Janney too--she graduated with the first class of women from my high school alma mater, quite the trail-breaker in CT Dolly Parton is an amazing song writer--people forget that--she's been writing songs--good stuff--since she was a little kid. So much of it she doesn't perform--so I guess it probably wasn't all that hard for her to come up with 30 songs in a couple weeks. That's what she does.

    Ryan Phillippe

I like escapist entertainment. That's why I read romances and romantic comedies are my preferred movie genre. Which isn't to say I don't watch anything else, but I can all too easily understand why people don't want to watch realistic war movies.....I work with veterans on a daily basis--I don't always want to think about it when I leave my job.......

    Helen Mirren

Was watching a marathon of Top Gear yesterday on BBCAmerica and they had one with Dame Helen Mirren on. God I just love her. As, apparently, do the chaps on Top Gear She was too funny doing her timed lap--she doesn't own a car these days, she says! But her lap time was pretty decent--she wasn't at the bottom of the list, at least!

    Ryan Phillippe

Lainey HATES Ryan Philippe with a passion. So whether or not the abortion BI is true (I did find it and took this discussion there in the Blind Items forum) I am almost positive she intended it to be Ryan.

    Ryan Phillippe

OK, Lainey posted this yesterday: Which makes me think there was a blind item about a guy making his "women" (not girlfriends, really) get abortions. But I can't find it in the forum here. Anyone know which one I'm talking about, or is my memory playing tricks on me?? Lainey totally hates Ryan, and I know she has done quite a few not-so-veiled items about him. Plus come right out and talked about all the strippers he's slept with in Vancouver, so......

    Milla Jovovich

I don't watch Lost but I liked Sanchez on that short lived sitcom with Jennifer Esposito a couple years ago--cute & funny!

    Halle Berry

Some very different etymologies for that name--wonder which one Halle used to pick out the name....

    What Ever Happened to.....?

Thank you for bringing up What Women Want because I knew I'd seen that face (and not as the toddler in Growing Pains) but I couldn't place it....shame on me for not IMDBing but thank YOU for saving me from my lazy-butt self

    Michael Douglas & Catherine Zeta-Jones

You were thinking that 20 years ago, when he made those movies, he looked a lot better I too love him in A Chorus Line

    What are you reading?

I just started The Sixth Wife by Susannah Dunn (about Katharine Parr) I'm such a Tudor history fan! I just started reading Patterson--have been reading the Women's Murder Club books--started 4 last week but wasn't in the mood for something that started off so depressing so I switched to other books and will go back to it.

    Kate Hudson

She's been genetically blessed and she also works to keep her body fit--lots of photos of her running. I heartily approve of her body

    Michael Douglas & Catherine Zeta-Jones

I think it's the eyelashes! Plus, a fine balance of innocence and knowing in her expression. They're very nice photos!

    Kate Hudson

I agree! And her ass is the most perfect I've seen in a long time. I'm a hetero female and I want to grab it!

    What are you reading?

I just read a review of this (in the new Costco magazine, of all places ) Sounds really interesting--was it an uplifting book or depressing??

    Does anyone read historicals?

No, after reading about 6 Eloisa James books at this point (that's an estimate without looking at my list ) I'd sayd they definitely have more sex and less "regency". But what is there tends to be accurate! Alex--you must have read Potent Pleasures? I just finished #2 in that series--Midnight Pleasures. Cute, fun, quick read. I love romances, but do tend to skim over the sex scenes, reading very quickly.....I find I'm less annoyed that way.

    Oprah Winfrey

I say I hate her, but that's unfair, because really I don't care enough to pay attention. I have never watched her show and I try to ignore her as much as possible, but as her ego expands exponentially, it's increasingly difficult to do.....

    Jessica Alba

    1) I agree that getting boobs before any of your classmates sucks and does lead people to think you're a slut. Why, I don't know, since the biggest slut in our class was a gymnast with no tits at all.... 2) I agree that people should use condoms and birth control if they don't want disease and/or children 3) WTF does she think anyone is going to listen to and/or care what she has to say on the subject??? Re: the caps--some people believe they are easier to read. I cannot tell you how many times I tried to convince my mother-in-law that sentence case is much easier to read, and if someone has bad vision--increase the font size, don't make it ALL CAPS. My husband tried to reason with her. I sent her research studies on the subject. She still doesn't believe me.....

    Harrison Ford & Calista Flockhart

Ted actually specified that Harrison was NOT imbibing at the Oscars and that's probably one of the reasons he was grumpy So no, I don't think so. Unless he waited until late in the evening and TEddy C. didn't see him/have reports from later on......

    Janet Jackson

    WTF is she wearing?????

    Hugh Jackman

Thank you. Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou The funny thing is that in the real world, I don't like muscular men. I prefer lanky.....But him--I like!!

    Jessica Alba

Use of fertility drugs (not just IVF) can increase the chance of twins too, I think. Though, like abomb, I'm less inclined to believe that's the case for Alba......Must just be that Hollyweird water
