Ringo Starr Storms off TV Show over Cut Song

By WENN

HOLLYWOOD - Former Beatle Ringo Starr stormed off the set of Live with Regis & Kelly on Tuesday after producers attempted to cut short his musical set.

Starr was set to appear on the show with former Eurythmics star Dave Stewart and perform his new song "Liverpool 8."

But when TV bosses asked him to shorten the tune for an end-of-show time slot, an angry Starr left the building.

The rocker's publicist, Elizabeth Freund, reveals Starr was informed the four-minute, 15-second song had to be cut by over a minute just before he was set to appear live.

A statement from Freund reads, "We offered to cut back our chat time and asked them to fade or go to commercial. They were not willing to do that and Ringo was not willing to cut it further, so without a compromise we were not able to stay."

Miss Ross Doesn't Like It Up Close

Oh shit! TMZ has video of Diana Ross performing at the Air Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival on Saturday for 40,000. They started booing her ass when they were told by concert organizers that the big screens had to be turned off. Diana apparently didn't want any cameras on her. She told organizers that if they had cameras on her she wouldn't perform. That means nobody could see her ass, so they started booing her throughout her entire set. Tickets went from around $80 to over $300.

Organizers said, "The much anticipated performance of Diana Ross on Saturday proved somewhat disappointing to many patrons who expected a very interactive set. Miss Ross' request to have a restricted display of her performance however, inconvenienced patrons who were left feeling distanced from the stage and her performance."

Diana just didn't want them to see the old up close like that. That's why I love Diana. She will come onstage dressed like Slimer from Ghostbusters busted a nut all over her, but she's afraid of a little close up.

The audience should have rushed the stage and tackled her ass demanding their cash back.

WACKY ACTRESS GETS THE BOOT

January 29, 2008 -- IF you thought Sean Young - the wacko actress once accused of harassing James Woods - had mellowed with age, you'd be dead wrong.

Young was physically thrown out of the Directors Guild of America bash Saturday night for heckling "La Vie en Rose" star Marion Cotillard, then insulting Julian Schnabel, director of "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly."

LA gossip site Defamer.com reports Young "began screaming in French" when Cotillard took the stage at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza to present an award. Young could be heard "breaking into song."

But it was when Schnabel took the stage to make a brief speech "that she really went kook, yelling at him to 'get on with it' and to 'move it on' . . . Julian yelled back at her to 'have another drink, honey' and started to leave the stage before the crowd yelled at him to stay," Defamer reports.

"He continued to talk, and Sean stood up and made a big production of putting on her white fur coat, walking around in a circle and then taking her seat again."

Variety blogger Kristopher Tapley said Young "really ruined Julian's moment and it was kind of sad. He looked into the audience and said, 'Who said that?' . . . and then he said, 'Perhaps you'd like to finish my speech.' He was visibly p - - - ed and upset by the interruption. Sort of sad, actually. It's like you get this big moment where you're one of the five directors honored in a year and then some drunk in the audience ruins a lifetime moment for you."

Finally, when a team of security guards swooped in to remove Young, "she tried to throw a punch at [them]," Tapley writes.

Through her sister, Kathleen, Young told Page Six she would have no comment. Her reps didn't return a call or an e-mail.

Young, 38, whose movies include "Blade Runner" and "No Way Out," is no stranger to wacky behavior. After she and Woods had a fling during their 1988 film "The Boost," Woods filed a lawsuit against her for harassment and what he said was "a jihad of terror" against him. Years later, a bitter Young said she'd star with Woods again if she could beat him up or kill him in the movie.

Young also got weird when she tried to land the role of Catwoman in "Batman Returns," donning a homemade costume and trying to confront director Tim Burton during shooting.

Ross Jeered by Festival Crowd

Diana Ross was booed by 40,000 music fans at a Jamaican music festival on Saturday when she vetoed plans to screen her performance on monitors to side of the stage.

The legendary soul star was greeted by jeering at the 2008 Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival after organizers told the audience that "to honor Miss Ross' wishes, she will not be shown on the monitors."

Many in the large crowd were unable to see Ross, who was reportedly paid $300,000 for the concert, which also featured stars including Mary Mary and Billy Ocean.

They continued to boo throughout her set.

Festival spokesperson Carlette DeLeon says, "The much-anticipated performance of Diana Ross on Saturday proved somewhat disappointing to many patrons who expected a very interactive set.

"Miss Ross' request to have a restricted display of her performance however, inconvenienced patrons who were left feeling distanced from the stage and her performance."

PEANUT PAY FOR HURLEY MAID

February 21, 2008 -- ELIZABETH Hurley and her husband, Arun Nayar, are multimillionaires many times over, but they're also accused of being skinflints - paying their Indian maid just $200 a week for endless hours of cooking, cleaning and baby-sitting, according to published reports.

Violet D'Souza, 31, accused the "Austin Powers" star and her spouse of forking over as little as $2.33 an hour for as many as 70 hours of work a week in the couple's fashionable Chelsea (London) home, Britain's Mirror and Daily Mail both reported. Adding insult to injury, they allegedly paid her in the Indian currency of rupees.

D'Souza was set to take her case to an employment tribunal today - but the hearing was canceled at the 11th hour late yesterday after the distressed domestic was offered a five-figure settlement, according to the newspapers.

Hurley's lawyer, Jake Bloom, had no comment for Page Six, and her agent, Allison Band, did not return our call.

The London reports say d'Souza worked up to seven days a week, with her chores starting at 7:30 a.m. and sometimes lasting until 3 the next morning, with Hurley and Nayar rewarding her with a weekly 8,000 rupees. The equivalent hourly rate worked out to between $2.72 and $3.10, but was sometimes as low as $2.33 if she worked lengthy hours. In Britain, the legal minimum wage is $10.71.

Hurley, 42, is believed to be worth $25 million from acting and modeling, while Nayar, 43, is an heir to a fabulously rich Indian textiles family in Mumbai. D'Souza is believed to have worked for the family before Nayar brought her to London in 2003. She brought an action of breach of contract after being dismissed by the couple last August.

A spokesman for Kingsway Tribunal Center, where the case was to be heard, said yesterday, "We can confirm that the claim has been withdrawn and the pre-hearing review has been canceled but cannot discuss the reasons."

Hurley, who wed Nayar last March, has a 5-year-old son by billionaire businessman Steve Bing named Damian, whose godparents include Elton John, Hugh Grant, Denis Leary, Victoria and David Beckham and the late Heath Ledger.

One-Inch Rule

Page Six

KIMORA Lee Simmons is a nonsinging diva. That's why she has a contract rider, like the ones used on concert tours, for personal appearances. "She demands that someone stand by and refill her champagne glass whenever it gets below one inch, that the water is Fiji only and that the place provide fans that blow on her in case it gets hot," said an insider. Simmons' rep said, "She does only drink Fiji water but these reports are completely false and inaccurate."

Clean That Pole

MARISA Tomei thinks strip clubs are really dirty. The Oscar-winner, who plays an ecdysiast named Cassidy in "The Wrestler" opposite Mickey Rourke, had scouts search New Jersey for a "clean" mammary mecca as a location for her scenes. "She wanted a place that had been disinfected from top to bottom before she'd step foot inside," said our source. "They finally found one called Stiletto, near the Meadowlands." Our spy also said Rourke relaxes by blasting rock and working out on set. Tomei's rep did not return a call or e-mail.

Mariah Switch Enrages Nbc

March 9, 2008 -- HELL hath no fury like a network scorned.

Music-industry insiders and network sources say NBC is furious with Mariah Carey, her manager Benny Medina and her reps at Def Jam, because they promised Carey would perform on "Today" to promote her new album, "E=MC2" - but instead she's going on archrival ABC's "Good Morning America."

One music insider told Page Six, "Every morning show wanted Mariah on for her new album, so Benny started negotiating. He demanded that 'Today' promote her fragrance and also give her a guest-star role on 'My Name is Earl.' They agreed."

But her "My Name Is Earl" part, which was to coincide with the album release, was put off when it was decided the album needed work. "It was supposed to come out in November, then it was pushed back until February, and now the release date is April 15," said our source.

"The entire time, Benny told 'Today' it would get Mariah for its concert series on Rockefeller Plaza. But then he stopped returning calls. Turns out, he had done a side deal behind everyone's back with 'Good Morning America' - after NBC had agreed to all of his demands.

Medina, the inspiration for "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air," told us: "We want to do something really spectacular for Mariah's album debut. I don't want 'Today' to feel disrespected by me trying to do right by my client. But when we went on 'GMA' [two years ago], they closed down Times Square. It got great ratings and was a big success."

And Medina denies he ever promised "Today" that Carey would give a concert on Rockefeller Plaza. "If they can show me an e-mail from anyone committing to the concert, I will personally pay for the entire production myself," he said.

Laura Swanson, Carey's rep at Def Jam, said the outdoor plaza wasn't big enough for a concert, "thus, they're unable to meet our needs for a spectacular launch event." No one would divulge where Carey's mid-April concert for "GMA" would be held.

Megan Kopf, a rep for "Today," said, "Mariah has been a guest on 'Today' several times since the start of her career. We would certainly like to have her back on 'Today.' "

Gimme More

MOLLY Sims could use some etiquette lessons. Sources say the "Las Vegas" star showed up at the Austin Film Festival after-party at Pangaea Austin last weekend and demanded guests be booted to create a VIP section for herself and 20 pals. She then told owner Michael Ault she wanted to be paid for appearing. "When Ault explained it was a benefit for the festival and he was not making any money himself, she proceeded to belittle him," a witness said. "Her group drank six bottles of Dom Perignon, a bottle of Maker's Mark and two bottles of vodka. The tab was $8,000 and had to be comped. The server got only a $100 tip after working overtime." Sims' rep told us: "None of this is true."

Mag Man Mayhem In Milan

MAGAZINE man Jefferson Hack, the ex-beau of wild woman Kate Moss, is a party animal himself. During Milan Fashion Week, Hack threw a party for London's Another magazine, and afterwards, he and his cohorts tore up the Hotel Principe di Savoia. "There were 50 people partying in the lobby, but management shut it down because of noise," said an insider. The gang then took over a presidential suite upstairs where they "cleaned out the minibar and partied all night" until the suite's rightful renter returned. We're told Hack and crew ran out and a young blond "publicist type" cleaned up the mess and paid for the night. Hack declined to comment.

Norton Behaves Like A Hulk

THEY might want to create a new Oscar for Edward Norton: Hollywood's Biggest Pain in the Butt. Word is Norton is warring with Marvel Studios over the final cut of "The Incredible Hulk," which he wrote and stars in but is threatening not to promote. The temperamental star's rep denied any serious friction, insisting: "Edward was brought on board by Marvel as a producer, screenwriter and actor, so it shouldn't surprise anyone that he has a lot of creative input into the postproduction process. His deal was for all three, and he takes those roles seriously." She would not elaborate on Norton's issues. The Oscar-nominated actor has a reputation for being difficult. Tony Kaye, who directed him in "American History X," charged that Norton reedited the flick to give himself more screen time. And screenwriter/director Joe Eszterhas cmhere2once cracked: "You don't want Edward Norton to star in your movie. He now rewrites all the scripts he agrees to act in." Universal Pictures, distributor of "Hulk," which debuts nationwide on June 13, had no comment.

CRANKY CARUSO BULLIES 'CSI'

March 17, 2008 -- DAVID Caruso's ego has grown just as big as the ratings for his hit CBS show, "CSI: Miami." On-set sources say he rewrites every scene he's in and instructs the director on how to do his job.

According to e-mails sent to Defamer.com, "[Caruso] can't walk and talk at the same time - you should see him on stairs. He requires dozens of takes for simplest line readings and can't even put his 'CSI' gloves on on camera. He will cuss uncontrollably, often in front of a child actor, and blame everyone but himself for his inability to act."

The insider continued, "He rewrites every scene he is in, so he is totally to blame for the hackneyed one-liners. He will take anything the writers give him and destroy it. And the sunglasses bit is all his, a truly innovative contribution to his character. But as he said to us many times, 'What should I do? I am a grown man with red hair.'

"We used to call the Diet Coke his 'acting juice,' and he once asked the director of photography to make it seem like he was flying to the crime scene, explaining that [his character] Horatio is actually a mythical superhero. For real."

Another on-set spy added: "Caruso asks when, in the scene, there will be a close-up of the sunglasses - in every scene."

But an ally of Caruso fumed, "David's one-liners and sunglasses have become branded and are iconic TV moments. Everyone from Jim Carrey to David Letterman has joined the bandwagon parodying them. David headlined last year's CBS upfront presentation delivering the entire CBS lineup with his one-liners and wearing sunglasses. Justifying his acting ability is ridiculous.

"David has been working opposite Richard Gere, Russell Crowe and Robert De Niro and headlines a top-rated TV series. It is clear his acting speaks for itself."

As for alleged indiscretions on-set, the ally adds, "Occasionally spitting or cursing on the set? Well, find me an adult male - or female, for that matter - who hasn't done that. All in all, 'CSI: Miami' is a hugely successful show, and for David, his life is all about the show and his kids."

Caruso's rep declined to comment.

Caruso accused of being difficult, demanding

By Ree Hines

MSNBC contributor

Lieutenant Horatio Caine may be Miami’s smoothest lawman, but according to one insider, the actor behind the character is more of a demanding diva. Defamer reports that “CSI: Miami’s” David Caruso stands accused of spitting, cursing and behaving like a tortured “man-child” on set.

“(David) can't walk and talk at the same time (you should see him on stairs), requires dozens of takes for simplest line-readings (which as we all know, he can only do one way) and can't even put his ‘CSI’ gloves on on-camera (always a time cut, just watch),” said a source going by the moniker “OnSetSnitch.”

“Snitch,” who claims to have witnessed production of almost 50 episodes of the hit show, contacted Defamer after the site posted a story about David’s sunglasses-enhanced acting method.

“Caruso is without a doubt, the most tortured, saddest man-child/ actor I've ever seen in over 15 years of movie and TV-making.” The alleged insider went on to say, “He will cuss uncontrollably (often in front of a child actor) and blame everyone but himself for his inability to act. He used to hack up big loogies on the floor of the set, too, until a producer gently reminded him of sanitation and courtesy.”

"Idols" Go Diva Once They Get Home

Posted Mar 18th 2008 5:13PM by TMZ Staff

The "American Idol" kids might be all aw-shucks on the air, but they're a lot more oh-no-you-didn't when the cameras stop rolling!

This year's crop of "Idol" finalists, according to spies at the apartment complex where they're all sequestered, "act like they're stars already" and are definitely "not nice" to the staff at the building -- and complain a lot about things like a little construction going on at the complex. "They're always hiding like they're special," we're told, and they're very aloof, especially compared to last year's crew, which was much nicer.

And it's not just their personalities that are a little ugly -- our spies snipe that they "look like sh*t" when they leave in the mornings at 7 AM. Let's be honest though -- and ya'll have seen us on TMZ on TV -- who doesn't?

TMZ Mole is Dancing with the Stars!

Posted Mar 18th 2008 7:53PM by TMZ Staff

So "Dancing with the Stars" is back, and so are those pesky TMZ moles.

The headline isn't huge, but it's kinda interesting. Shannon Elizabeth could turn into Shannon Elizabitch. The makeup department is on rouge alert. They think she's got incredible diva potential and she's already shunned the makeup artist assigned to her.

On the other side of the rhinestone onesie, Marlee Matlin is the crew fav. She even brings her own hair stuff so the makeup people are loving her.

Penn Jillette is all business. He was sitting on stairs on the CBS lot, near the "Idol" stage, holding one phone to his ear, texting with another and there was a third phone next to him that may or may not be his.

And then there's Bruno, more like Brutus -- shirtless, tanning and smoking outside. Our spy says he's "got quite a physique." Hairless -- unclear if he shaves.

Dismissive Diva

Hayden Panettiere is trying to get Milo Ventimiglia fired from 'Heroes' now that they're broken up. According to OK!, she refuses to be on the set at the same time as him, making things "difficult" for everyone involved to prove that she's the star of the show. She should be counting her blessings that she still has a show.

High Maintenance Hollywood

Katherine Heigl has come under fire recently for apparent divalike behavior on the set of her new film, "Five Killers." According to an extra on the set, "Heigl reportedly refused to film any scenes until her pregnant assistant ran around and got her a Coke Zero.

She refused to eat lunch next to anyone or have anyone speak to her once the cameras stopped rolling." Heigl has also reportedly been demanding that she be flown by private plane to and from the film's international locations, according to the New York Daily News.

This is not the first time Heigl has rubbed Hollywood the wrong way. The "Grey's Anatomy" actress withdrew her name after she was nominated for an Emmy in 2008, saying she didn't feel her character had any "material that was worthy to submit."

High Maintenance Hollywood

Even stars lose their cool at times and lash out. "Heroes" actress Hayden Panettiere had a diva moment when she reportedly snapped at a television reporter at a fund-raising event in Honolulu March 7, 2009. According to Us Weekly magazine, when a television reporter asked Panettiere, "May we talk with you?" the actress turned around and screamed, "Don't you ever touch me!"

But Panettiere didn't stop there. She let the paparazzi have it one more time, saying, "You all make my life miserable" and refused to answer any questions, according to Us Weekly. Perhaps her recent split from actor Milo Ventimiglia is what has Panettiere so high-strung.

Private jet? ABC replaces Paula on ‘Ugly Betty’

Kristen Johnston will now play the role Abdul was in negotiations for

By Michael Ausiello

Take note, “American Idol”: This is how you replace Paula Abdul.

“Ugly Betty” has tapped “3rd Rock” Emmy winner Kristen Johnston to replace Abdul in the now-recurring role of Helen, Mode’s newest office temp and Amanda’s elder doppelganger. Abdul had been in negotiations to play the part, but last week the deal came undone — in part, I hear, due to the ex-“Idol” judge’s insane list of demands. (Two words: Private. Jet.)

“I’ve always considered myself a poor man’s Paula Abdul,” Johnston says with a laugh. She describes her Betty character as “Amanda in 10 years. She’s still trying to get into the right clubs, wearing tight dresses… tragic. I think (Helen) sees herself as Samantha from ‘Sex and the City.’ Except, of course, she’s a temp.”

Johnston will first appear in the second half of “Betty’s” two-hour premiere on Oct. 9.

Encounter with ‘Hung’ star cost waiter his job

Worker fired for complaining on Twitter about lack of tip from Jane Adams

Access Hollywood

updated 16 minutes ago

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - A Hollywood waiter is claiming an encounter with “Hung” star Jane Adams cost him his job at a popular eatery.

Jon-Barrett Ingels, 31, claims Adams, who plays Tanya on the HBO series, visited celeb hot spot Barney Greengrass (the cafe on the fifth floor of Barneys New York in Beverly Hills) in July and “skipped out on a $13.44 check,” he posted on his Twitter page earlier this summer.

“Her agent called and payed (sic) the following day. NO TIP!!!” he wrote on July 17.

And as it turns out, it was venting on his Twitter page that ultimately cost Ingels his job.

Ingels — who chronicled serving the likes of Tori Spelling, Ali Larter and “Office” stars B.J. Novak and Mindy Kaling on his Twitter page in the days after serving Adams — documented the encounter on his personal blog, noting after he dropped off the check, Adams admitted she had forgotten her wallet in her car and asked if she could go out and grab it.

However, according to Ingels, Adams never returned. Instead, a rep for the actress called the restaurant offering to pay the tab, which was $13.75 — but left out the tip.

“Not a big deal to me financially but the principle of the thing was ridiculous. I put my neck on the line by letting her leave without paying and end up getting screwed,” he wrote on his blog.

Yet, it wasn’t the fact he let Adams leave without paying that would cost Ingels his job, but rather Barney’s corporate made the decision after finding his Twitter account and seeing his posts about the run-in.

Ingels said the company fired him after five years of employment.

“I understand they want to keep a safe environment for the celebrities and I think that I broke that safety,” Ingels told AOL’s Slashfood. “Had they come to me and said you need to take this down or change it to private, had I been told if you don’t do this, you’re going to lose your job — I would’ve done that.”

And while Ingels’ story has garnered buzz online, with the now-out-of-work waiter giving interviews to various blog sites, it also apparently made its way back to Adams herself.

In an interview with The Los Angeles Times’ Brand X column, Ingels said Adams returned to the restaurant a month later (prior to his termination) and “slapped three dollar bills on the table in front of him.”

“Thank you so much. You didn’t have to do this,” Ingels recalled saying.

“Well, I read about it on Twitter!” he said Adams responded.

Despite the events that unfolded, Ingels appears not to hold any ill will towards the actress.

“For the record I think Jane Adams (Hung) is a great actress!!” he Tweeted on Aug. 15.

“Need to thank Jane Adams! After she got me fired, I have had five uninterrupted days with my daughter!” he added on Sept. 3.

A spokesperson for Barneys Corporate or Barney Greengrass was not immediately available for comment on the story when contacted by Access Hollywood. In addition, HBO had no comment on the report.

Well, she was certainly wrong for not paying her bill but that waiter deserved to get fired for Twittering about it, especially since he named names.

Really? I think he only deserved to be fired if his restaurant has a specific privacy policy in place. Was it smart? No, but I don't think it's a firing offense unless he broke an explicit rule. He got stiffed and he bitched about it. It's not slanderous or libelous.....

Agreed. He twittered about being stiffed. If his "twit" was untrue that's one thing...but it's a total diva move by her and her agency to get him fired.

Maybe the cafe has a rule against making disparaging remarks about it's clientele...but I am willing to bet that it doesn't apply to twitter...so I would get a lawyer if I was the dude.

Twitter mocks Jane over her failing to pay the waiter tip

October 11th, 2009 - 4:55 pm ICT by Aishwarya Bhatt

Los Angeles, Oct 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Twitter mocked Jane Adams over her failure to pay the restaurant bill and then she was even instrumental in getting the waiter fired, because he tweeted about it.

The next day, her representative paid up the pending bill, but didn’t leave any tip. This irked the waiter who tweeted about it that, “Jane Adams, star of HBO series ‘Hung’ skipped out on a $13.44 check. Her agent called and paid the following day. NO TIP!!!”

This offending tweet came to Adam’s notice and she returned to the hotel to pay up the tip and complain about the tweet, which eventually led Ingels to be fired.

Twitterverse mocked Jane Adams no end over her stinginess and her hand in getting the poor waiter fired.

Prejean Sex Tape Triggers Settlement

Posted Nov 4th 2009 5:00PM by TMZ Staff

Carrie Prejean demanded more than a million dollars during her settlement negotiations with Miss California USA Pageant officials -- that is, until the lawyer for the Pageant showed Carrie an XXX home video of her handiwork.

The video the lawyer showed Carrie is extremely graphic and has never been released publicly. We know that, because TMZ obtained the video months ago but decided not to post it because it was so racy. Let's just say, Carrie has a promising solo career.

We're told it took about 15 seconds for Carrie to jettison her demand and essentially walk away with nothing. As we first reported, the Pageant is paying around $100,000 to her lawyers and publicist -- a fraction of her bills. She pockets nothing in the settlement.
