Former Beverly Hills, 90210 mean girl Tiffani Thiessen married actor-artist Brady Smith on Saturday at a private estate in Montecito, Calif., her rep confirms to PEOPLE.

The bride, 31, wearing a French lace and tulle dress designed by Vera Wang, and the groom, 33, in a suit by Kenneth Cole, were surrounded by close friends and family as their daytime garden wedding turned into a French Provencal feast by evening.

Thiessen, who originally hails from Long Beach, Calif., and Smith, a Houston native, danced until late into the night and wrapped up the reception with a Perrier Jouet Champagne toast before heading to Santa Barbara's Hotel Andalucia for their first evening as husband and wife.

A one-time model, Thiessen spent her teen years playing cheerleader Kelly Kapowski on NBC's Saved by the Bell, which was followed by a few seasons as Valerie Malone on FOX's 90210 and a lead role on the network's short-lived 2002 series Fastlane. Her movies include 1993's Son in Law and Woody Allen's Hollywood Ending (2002).

In spring of 2003, she ended a year-and-a-half engagement to actor Richard Ruccolo (seen a few times this spring on Joey). "They just amicably split," friend Ryan Reynolds told PEOPLE at the time.

Smith's credits include TV appearances on ER, CSI: Miami, Judging Amy, Charmed and an episode two weeks ago of HBO's new sitcom with Lisa Kudrow, The Comeback.

Paging Dr. Thiessen

Seriously, I'm fully aware that this isn't exactly the most breaking of celebrity news, but for some reason reading that she plays a doctor in her upcoming role in the Made-for-TV Hallmark Channel movie, "Pandemic," made me giggle. Probably because the last time I saw her on TV, she was doing this. As you probably guessed from the title, the film is based on the concept that a crazy virus (much like bird-flu) starts to spread among the populace. Thiessen's character is the doctor who heads up the group of Centers of Disease Control and Prevention specialists who are saddled with the task off containing the disease. She spent most of the time during filming wearing a hazmat suit.

"The first day that we had to be in those suits we were at LAX on the tarmac during a 110-degree summer day," she said. "I drank water all day and, weirdly enough, didn't have to go to the bathroom once because I was sweating out every ounce of water that I took into my body. It was a pretty miserable day."

That sounds gross. If I were a guy, I think that my weiner would have retreated back into its shell after reading about Tiff's super-sweaty day. And here I was thinking that she'd be in her normal sexy outfits, with a clipboard and glasses. You know, cause that's what sexy doctors wear.

Tiffani Thiessen Is Expecting a Baby

Tiffani Thiessen and her husband, artist and actor Brady Smith, are expecting their first baby next May, her rep tells PEOPLE exclusively.

"We are over the moon!" the couple said in a statement. "It's something we've wanted for a long time and we are thrilled that it's actually happening."

Balancing motherhood with her new role on USA's drama White Collar will be a welcome adjustment for the star, best known for her work on Saved By the Bell and the original Beverly Hills 90210.

"I've never done it – it's going to be a whole new thing," she told PEOPLE in May when talking about the idea of becoming a mom.

Thiessen, 35, and Smith have been married since 2005.

Tiffani Thiessen Celebrates Her Baby Shower

With only weeks left before her May due date, Tiffani Thiessen celebrated with a baby shower on Sunday afternoon at her and husband Brady Smith’s home outside Los Angeles.

The White Collar star welcomed about 65 guests to the outdoor party, hosted by former 90210 costar Jason Priestley’s wife Naomi.

Guests enjoyed a cake from Hansen’s Cakes and a gift bag that included goodies from baby company BabyBjörn.

Apart from stocking up on presents – among her gifts was The Hot Mom to Be Handbook by Jessica Denay – Thiessen has also finalized plans for the birth.

“I’m going to give a Girl Scout effort to hypnobirthing,” the actress, 36, tells Pregnancy magazine about the method that uses hypnosis to promote natural childbirth.

“I’m really excited about it. That’s my plan, but my husband and I are both very, very open to however the child is supposed to come out. Knock on wood it all goes well. I’m not one to judge any woman on how they choose to give birth. It’s individual and I think everyone’s different.”

As for the sex of the baby, Thiessen and her husband are keeping it a secret until the baby’s arrival.

“I couldn’t wait to find out,” she recently told PEOPLE.

“Are you kidding? My husband I were way too excited to wait. We needed to know right away.”

Thiessen will grace the cover of Pregnancy’s May issue, on newsstands April 13.
