Teri Hatcher

Recommended Posts

Hear hear. And somehow, to me, the fact she's sobbing over losing a man who might be George Clooney - Hollywood's greatest slut - minutes after sobbing over being horribly molested as a child makes it seem like she's diminishing the horror of what happened to her as a little girl. However, I can also relate that when you're so sad about one thing, it kind of leaks its sadness over everything else. The day my grandpa died, I cried and cried about it, then cried and cried over getting a B- on my term paper. When you're grieving The Big Stuff, The Little Stuff can seem pretty spectacularly upsetting, too.

Tearful Hatcher talks about sexual abuseBEVERLY HILLS, California (AP) -- Teri Hatcher delivered a tearful speech in which she addressed being sexually molested by her uncle 35 years ago."Recently I had the honor, really, of being able to come forward and help raise awareness of some violence against women," the 41-year-old actress told reporters Thursday during a news conference to announce plans for the third annual Women's World Awards. She was referring to a recent Vanity Fair interview in which she said she was molested by her uncle when she was 5 years old and living in Sunnyvale. When she learned in 2002 that a 14-year-old victim of her uncle had committed suicide, Hatcher approached Santa Clara County prosecutors. After Hatcher came forward, the uncle, Richard Hayes Stone, pleaded guilty to four counts of child molestation in the case of the 14-year-old victim and received 14 years in prison."There are many women who suffer with these traumatic experiences their whole lives, and they keep those things a secret," Hatcher said, her eyes welling with tears. "They spend some of their lives feeling that the fault of things that have happened to them was something that they caused."These experiences ... leave us with a choice, a choice to use our experiences to enlighten and empower and change people's lives, and that is a choice I am getting behind."The "Desperate Housewives" star was seated next former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, who will present the 2006 Women's World Awards on October 14 in New York. The event recognizes extraordinary women and their achievements in a variety of fields.Hatcher won the World Actress award last year.

[Parenthetical: Gorby must have been dying on so many levels, sitting next to her, with her rattling on about this. I've met him, and he's a very dignified European gentleman. I mean, I'm glad she got her skeletons out of her closet, but...]

I always feel that victims of abuse are not the victim's skeleton, it's the attackers. I have no problem with the victims singing like a bird about what the attacker did, there is no shame in someone saying that they were attacked (be it rape, stalking, beatings, whatever) by so-and-so. That said, it sure does feel like she's using it as PR for herself. I haven't seen the full accounts of her talking about what happend. Is this just one or two sentences she said in an interview that the press blew out of proportion??

Princess, I agree that the skeleton really belongs to the attackers, but I think that because of the nature of the crime, victims feel shame and powerlessness, like they did something to deserve it, so they hide it and feel that it's their skeleton (accomplices after the fact, by concelaing the crime, therefore assisting their attacker, etc), if you follow me. Certainly victims have nothing to hide or be ashamed of - anymore. It wasn't always so, used to be considered a very shameful thing. (A friend of mine was attacked as a 6-year-old-girl and her traditional family still considers her "soiled" - and she's over 50 now, two kids, married 25 years.) But I agree with you that she's using it to feed the PR machine. There are plenty of sex abuse victims who dealt with it publically, but didn't necessarily capitalize on it (Oprah, for instance.) The article in Vanity Fair about her devoted major column inches to what happened to her, what happened to the other victim (who committed suicide), the long-term effects on Terri's emnotional health, etc etc.

Totally agree that often the victims feel guilty, and the pressure friends and family put on them never cease to amaze me. <_< Someone mentioned in another thread they couldn't believe Teri talking about what happened to her as a kid, then posed on the cover of a magazine in a swimsuit. That kinda bugged me. Just because this attacker did something awful to her, doesn't mean that she should dress like a prude the rest of her life. She was just wearing what every other star wears on mag covers these days.

Hatcher to Be 'Highest-Paid TV Actress' Teri Hatcher is expected to become the highest-paid television actress After demanding a cut from numerous lucrative products linked to hit show Desperate Housewives. Hatcher's earnings are set to rocket to at least $6 million after she won a deal to promote the spin-offs, including a computer game and an online fashion store. A source tells British newspaper The Mail on Sunday, "She has been saying that, unlike the stars of Friends, who ended up making a million an episode, she is not getting enough money. "(Series producer) Disney is desperate to keep her happy so has come up with a deal that gives her a cut of profits from the video game, board game and a planned online clothing store. "There are also plans for a cookbook, music DVD and a fragrance. This is going to be a huge, lucrative franchise and Teri has made sure she's getting a cut of every deal. "She will earn at least $6 million from spin-offs alone this year.

I'm not sure that people were saying Teri could never dress sexy for the rest of her life. I say go for it - as long as she covers the most disturbing bones and maybe eats a sandwich or two. I, for one, felt a little uncomfortable about the juxtaposition of the serious article about her sexual abuse and its consequences and the coy sex kitten picture on the cover of the same magazine. Plus there is something odd about the picture itself - there is a stricken, innocent look in her eyes. If there is any weirdness or tastelessness involved, that's more on Vanity Fair than it is on Teri.

Teri's Girl-On-Girl Kiss

Teri Hatcher is clearly determined to clear up any chat that those Desperate Housewives don't get along.

And what better way of doing it than indulging in a full-on lip smacker with one of your co-stars?

Nicollette Sheridan was the lucky recipient although, judging from the photo, she might well have been the instigator.

Both stars were at the Gay And Lesbian Alliance bash in Los Angeles, and the theme of the evening clearly tickled their fancy.

Bodies clamped together, hands entwined, Teri's nose squashed... the two ladies weren't half-arsing around - they even had their eyes closed.

In all the photos from the event, the twosome couldn't keep their hands off each other - and even took to the dancefloor together.

What would Nic's fella, Michael Bolton, think?

Now, Teri pashing with Marcia Cross? That's when we'd finally believe that those Wisteria Lane girls all get on hunkydory.

I honestly don't see why she's the main attraction of DH??? Her schtick on the show is getting old. I'd be happy if they killed her off. And she's so emaciated that her eyes are bulging out of her head.

Teri Hatcher - an apology

Apology ... to Teri Hatcher

AN item on 2 August last year “Telly Teri’s Romps in Van” stated that actress Teri Hatcher had sex romps in her VW camper van at her home.

Although published in good faith, we now accept that the article was totally incorrect and we apologise to Ms Hatcher for the embarrassment caused.

Hatcher Receives Apology from British Paper Desperate Housewives actress Teri Hatcher has received a published apology from a British newspaper which published a false sex story last year. The Sun claimed Hatcher indulged in steamy romps in a camper van parked outside her Los Angeles home in its August 2 story. But the paper wrote in today's edition, "An article on August 2 last year, 'Wagon Squeals', stated that actress Teri Hatcher had sex romps in her VW campervan at her home. Although we published in good faith, we now accept that the article was totally incorrect and we apologize to Ms Hatcher for the embarrassment caused." In December, Hatcher accepted a "very substantial" payout from rival British paper the Daily Sport, who published the van romp allegations on their front page, following a trial at London's High Court.

Teri Hatcher Injured on Housewives SetWednesday Apr 26, 2006 7:00am ESTBy Mike Fleeman Teri Hatcher's right eye was injured when a light bulb exploded on the Desperate Housewives set on Tuesday, PEOPLE reports. "Glass lodged in my right eye and proceeded to scratch my cornea," the actress tells PEOPLE exclusively. "I was taken to a wonderful eye doctor, and now am wearing a most glamorous eye patch over the right half of my face. I like to look at the positive and the good news is, the cornea is the fastest healing tissue in the body." Hatcher says she should be back to production in two days and explains, "I'm in some pain, but trying to see the humor in the oddity of it all. No one was at fault." The Housewives star was scheduled to appear at the AmberWatch Foundation launch party in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, due to her injury, she was unable to attend the event. Hatcher is the new spokesperson for the organization which is dedicated to the prevention of child abduction and molestation. PEOPLE was one of the sponsors of the launch event.

It's nice she and her ex are still friendly, in spite of the sexually explicit (or rather, explicit about their lack of sex!) details she wrote about him. I would be angry if I were him. Good that they seem to put on a united, civil front before their daughter, at least.

NY Daily NewsFor Teri Hatcher, memoir'sa labor of unfulfilled love Art imitates life Teri Hatcher reveals in her new memoir that during her marriage to Jon Tenney, she really was a desperate housewife. "Desperate Housewives" star Teri Hatcher is letting loose with more startling revelations about her life and loves. Just weeks after her brave testimony against her sex-offender uncle, Richard Hayes Stone, lead to his being jailed, Hatcher opens up again in her compelling memoir, "Burnt Toast and Other Philosophies of Life."Though she plays a sex-famished single mother on the hit ABC show, Hatcher writes that her childhood molestation trauma lead to a string of unsuitable men.* Her first marriage, to personal trainer Markus Leithold, lasted only eight months. Soon afterward, she dated an actor she doesn't identify, only to learn "he was cheating on me all over the place."* Her second marriage, to actor Jon Tenney, held on for nine years, but was so devoid of passion they didn't even make love on their honeymoon. Hatcher claims to know exactly when their 8-year-old daughter, Emerson, was conceived, because she and Tunney "had sex once that year, on Valentine's Day." A rep for Tunney didn't return a call by deadline. * After their divorce in 2004, Hatcher set off on "a parade of bad dates." There was a handsome millionaire who was "already in a long-term relationship with cocaine." There was a freak obsessed with prostitutes. And there was a "creepy lawyer" who offered her "$50,000 to go to a convention with him. Like an escort!" * Hatcher claims that a masseur molested her at a spa by trying to give her a "happy ending. As I was lying there I couldn't figure out if I was being violated or if I was enjoying myself." From then on, Hatcher requested masseuses.* As for speculation that she suffered from an eating disorder, she says, "I am not nor have I ever been anorexic. I've never lost or gained significant weight except when I was pregnant."Today, despite her success and being voted one of the world's sexiest women, she's still looking for love."If I thought getting divorced was going to open up an arena of endless sexcapades, I was wrong," she says. "I never thought I'd be [over] 40 and have no one to go to dinner with, nor someone who loves me and whom I trust, but here I am. Sad but true."

I"m left wondering how one of the "world's sexiest women" couldn't talk a guy into having sex with her more than once a year. Perhaps she isn't so dang sexy after all? I think she is skanky and self absorbed. The whole thing with Clooney was so pathetic. One date and she's sketching her wedding dress. Sexy is in your mind and if it is, you can put it in someone else's mind too!

Teri Snatchers was on Oprah today, crying about whatever and wherever. She answered Ope's questions about those disgusting Ryan Seacrest pictures. Here's how it went down:Teri: “It was our third date, but it was our first alone. We went to this shacky place, way way outside of L.A…”Oprah: “How did the paparazzi get there?”Teri: I have no idea, but interestingly enough I haven’t seen him since that day.”Oprah: “Not a word since then? What did he say? What did he say when the pictures came out?”Teri: “The pictures came out three days later. We knew they had been taken. It must’ve bothered him though — bothered him enough that an hour after they were taken he called and said ‘I don’t think I can do this with you.’”Oprah: “He did? Why?”Teri: “I don’t know.”Oprah: “Was it because you were too high profile?”Teri: “It was because I ate too much lobster. [laughs] No you’d have to ask him.”WTF? How pathetic is it to get dumped by Seacrest? Especially if you're a woman! She also forgot to mention that it ended because the contract only stated one session.source: dlisted

Hmm, let's see, Jon Tenney was emotionally detached from Teri during their marriage. Clooney distances himself from her after one date, and now Ryan Seacrest dumps her without much of an explanation as to why. Could be Miss Hatcher, the problem may lie with you-----you think?

Maybe she's too attached. She probably puts men up against a (Str8 only) a wall that they can't seem to get out of & refuse to see her again.

Does she really think the average housewife is going to relate to her getting dumped by all of these (gay - except Clooney - I refuse to believe it!) men? Also - way to bash you kid's father with the once a year sex thing - I can't imagine my mother saying something publicly about my dad like that (or even privately!) Finally, Felicity is an amazing actress, but even she can't fake excitement in those pix. Teri - please go away!
