Moss will not face drug charges

Supermodel Kate Moss will not be charged over claims she took cocaine, the Crown Prosecution Service has said.

Pictures of Moss, 31, allegedly taking cocaine at a London recording studio last September appeared in a newspaper.

 

The CPS said the film footage "provides an absolutely clear indication that Ms Moss was using controlled drugs and providing them to others".

 

But the "precise nature" of the drug could not be established and there was "insufficient evidence" to prosecute.

 

Ms Moss lost modelling contracts and checked into a rehabilitation clinic after pictures of her allegedly taking cocaine were published in the Daily Mirror last year.

 

The CPS said the Metropolitan Police had investigated the allegations involving events at a recording studio in Chiswick High Road, on the night of the 5/6 September.

 

Expert analysis

 

The CPS said there was insufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction against the model.

 

CPS London's director of serious casework, Rene Barclay, said it had been a "protracted investigation" because crucial evidence was obtained through a court order and because of "the absence of Ms Moss from the UK for several months".

 

Mr Barclay continued: "Expert analysis of the footage, however, narrowed the possibilities down to three particular drugs - cocaine, ecstasy or amphetamine.

 

"But these three substances fall into two different legal categories of controlled drugs.

 

"To obtain a conviction, case law establishes that the prosecution must prove beyond reasonable doubt, the legal category to which the substance being used belonged."

 

After the pictures emerged, Ms Moss apologised through her modelling agency Storm and said she took "full responsibility" for her actions.

 

"I also accept that there are various personal issues that I need to address and have started taking the difficult, yet necessary, steps to resolve them," she said.

 

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair, who has pledged to tackle middle-class users of cocaine, had said the decision on whether to charge Moss would take into account her effect on "impressionable young people".

KATE Moss has used therapy to battle drugs - now she's going to see a shrink to get over another addiction, this time to dodgy men.

 

The supermodel, who went through rehab last year after the Mirror revealed her drug habit, is seeking help so she can have a cleaner lifestyle and find a decent boyfriend.

 

A friend says: "Kate wants to work through why she always wants bad boys. She's convinced that her attraction to wild guys is down to the traumatic split between her parents when she was just 13."

 

The 32-year-old has been bed-hopping between junkie rocker Pete Doherty, ex-drug addict Russell Brand and Dirty Pretty Things rocker Anthony Rossomando.

 

She's been inspired by her best pal Sadie Frost, who wants to open herself up to meetingh a decent man too and has even given up alcohol for seven weeks to help her find a Mr Right.

 

The friend says: "Sadie sees her therapist three times a week and is going back to her childhood to discover why she goes in for too much drink, other substances and partying."

 

Kate was so impressed by her party partner that she's decided to join her in the quest for a better lifestyle and better men.

 

Close friends for years, the girls have always shared everything - drinks, secrets, boyfriends - and now they will even share a therapist.

 

A pal of the pair told us: "Sadie's been dry for the past seven weeks and has been seeing a female therapist. Having been influenced by Sadie's new take on life Kate is following in her footsteps and intends to see the same therapist to sort out the same issues.

 

"Kate's seen what a difference it has made to Sadie's life and how much happier she is, so she wants to go back to her past and try to come out much stronger."

 

Jude Law's ex Sadie, hasn't exactly excelled in the boyfriend stakes since her marriage split in 2003.

 

Preferring toy boys, the 41-year-old Frost French designer has been linked to Jackson Scott, 27, dog-walker Barry Smith, 28, and actor Andy Jones, 25.

 

Now, as part of her dramatic bid to reinvent herself, Sadie is sending her four children to live with Hollywood star Jude as she embarks on a three-month £250,000 makeover of her Primrose Hill home.

 

And in a complete change from her champagne-fuelled lifestyle, Sadie is doing a run for charity. Getting into shape for Sports Relief on July 15, she has been training four times a week.

 

To help Kate and Sadie make a fresh start, their friend, party organiser Fran Cutler, is whisking them off to a detox retreat in the Maldives. They will be pampered for five days at the swanky One&Only resort Reethi Rah.

 

The friend tells us: "Kate and Sadie have always done things together, and now they both feel they will never find Mr Right if they carry on their old lives."

Supermodel Kate Moss has enrolled her three year old daughter in Spanish classes.

 

Moss is keen for the tiny Lila Grace to learn the language early; it will be the start of the education that Moss never had.

 

Modelling at an early age meant that Moss missed out on a lot of her schooling and she is determined for Lila to become a brainiac.

 

A friend told the Daily Express: "She wants things to be different for Lila, and thinks Spanish is a really important language for her to learn.

 

"She wants Lila to be fluent in the language by the time she's a teenager, and doesn't think she's too young to be starting lessons at three. It's already going well, Lila's picked up a few Spanish words."

 

She will be sorted for all those trips to Ibiza then…

When Kate Moss took her family and friends to an exclusive villa in Bali last week they were told to expect a very special celebration.

 

The supermodel flew her brother Nick and a group of her closest friends on a 14-seater private plane to the upmarket resort of Bukit, where she was due to 'marry' her drug addict lover Pete Doherty.

 

Kate, 32, had planned a Balinese-style ceremony - similar to the Hindu wedding of Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall in 1990 - down to the final detail and had told friends excitedly that it was to be the intimate 'spiritual ceremony' she and Pete had always dreamed of having.

 

The model, spotted last week with a large ring with a gemstone on her engagement finger, had even told her guests she had arranged to have a Balinese priest at the venue on the southern peninsula of the Indonesian island.

 

But the wedding was off and Kate was being comforted by her friends after 27-year-old Doherty, a self-confessed drug addict, failed to show up for the wedding after he was ordered into a rehabilitation clinic in Britain following his arrest for possessing class A drugs.

 

The Babyshambles singer was charged with seven counts of possessing drugs including heroin and cocaine and spent Thursday night in jail.

 

He was bailed by a district judge on Friday on the condition that he immediately checked into The Priory clinic. He is allowed out, but only between 8am and 10pm.

 

Kate was said to be "in tatters" and speaking to her lawyers in the vain hope of finding a legal loophole so that Doherty can be flown to Bali this week.

 

"She is in a terrible state," a source told me. "She is in tatters and very distressed. When she flew to Bali on Monday she was ecstatic and told her friends that there was going to be a ceremony for her and Pete this weekend.

 

"Kate loves Pete and while she has no intention of marrying him in a traditional wedding ceremony, they decided they wanted to have a spiritual ceremony to show their commitment to one another.

 

"Kate asked Pete to prepare a beautiful ceremony with poetry and music and he was thrilled.

 

"The holiday was initially meant to be a treat for her daughter Lila Grace and there are five little ones and two nannies out in Bali with Kate. But Kate decided to turn the holiday into a celebration."

 

A spokesman for the model confirmed that Kate was in Bali, but denied that she was planning a wedding to Pete.

 

I can reveal, however, that she has been making plans for the wedding for weeks and discussed the possibility of a pre-nuptial agreement with her mother Lynda.

 

The source said: "Kate's mum is understandably concerned about her marrying Pete because of his drugs problem. She has tried to persuade Kate to have a pre-nup, but Kate's adamant that Pete is not marrying her for her money. Her words were, 'He's not materialistic - he's an artist'."

 

While Mick Jagger challenged the legality of his Hindu wedding to Jerry Hall in the courts, claiming it was not legally binding in the UK, Kate, who is worth £16million, is said to have no concerns about the legality of a Balinese wedding.

 

The source said: "Kate wanted a Balinese-style wedding because it's bohemian and simple and represents everything she loves. She's not concerned about whether it's legal over here."

 

Friends said that Kate is still hoping Doherty may be able to fly to Bali before the end of the week.

 

"She has her lawyers working round the clock to see if there is any way she can get Pete out of the UK. He was meant to leave with her last Monday, but he had problems with his passport. Then on Thursday he got arrested.

 

"It's a race against time if they are going to marry, as Kate is only out there for another week."

 

A spokesman for Kate told me: "She is on holiday with friends. There is no spiritual ceremony because her boyfriend is in The Priory. There have never been any plans for a wedding."

Famed junkie Pete Doherty missed out on his own nuptials to supermodel Kate Moss on Saturday, reports Britain’s Daily Express.

 

Moss flew 14 close friends, including her brother Nick, to a resort in Bali last week, causing widespread speculation the couple was planning to get married.

 

But Doherty was detained in London when a judge ruled that he must attend rehab to make bail for cocaine and heroin charges. Doherty pled guilty on Friday and will be confined to London’s Priory Clinic each night until sentencing.

 

Despite the efforts of Moss and her lawyers to find a loophole, the Babyshambles’ lead singer won’t be making it to Indonesia.

 

“She is in a terrible state. When she flew to Bali, she was ecstatic and told friends there was going to be a ceremony,” a source told the Express.

 

Though Moss dumped Doherty last summer after a year-and-a-half of dating, the couple reunited last month and have been dating ever since. The model has been sporting a diamond ring on her left ring finger for several weeks.

 

Lucky for Moss, Doherty is now prepared if the two ever do end up exchanging vows. He already has something old (drug habit), something new (new drug charges), something borrowed (an orange jumpsuit) and something he once blew (cocaine). (And, yes, we’ll be here all week, thanks.
