Rosie Involved in Costly Swindle

Some young dude took it upon himself to write himself two checks totaling almost $70,000 from Rosie O'Donnell's production company, KidRo. Ramone Costley, who lives in Queens, got caught after he cashed the checks made out to himself, according to TMZ. The 23-year old is out of work was was using the money to pay bills. Oddly enough, he's never been employed by KidRo and it's not clear how he got his hot hands on the checks.

He used $53,000 to pay some bills, and withdrew more than $7,500 in cash. Costley will be in court today, TMZ has learned. The scam was first reported by the New York Post.

I have a feeling Donald Trump is somehow behind this. Since "The Apprentice" has been canceled, I suspect he's got some extra time on his hands.

Sure, Rosie And Elisabeth Are Best Pals. Yep. Right.

"The View" degenerated into delicious anarchy this morning, when Rosie and Elisabeth went OFF on each other about George Bush's presidency and then about each other . Like television apocalypse went off. To the point where Joy Behar was calling for a cut to commerical. And Alicia Silverstone got involved and damn!

You NEED to watch this clip. Bitches BRAWL! Shit gets personal. WHOO-HOO!

Rosie O'Donnell Blogs: 'Sad' Over Showdown

THURSDAY MAY 24, 2007 12:55 PM EDT

By Stephen M. Silverman

The on-air clash between Rosie O'Donnell and Elisabeth Hasselbeck on Wednesday's The View may have died down when the cameras were shut off, but the clamor continues.

On O'Donnell's Web site, under the heading Ask Ro, fans – and some detractors – are delivering messages of support and asking some questions, which the outspoken TV star is answering.

In one posting, someone identifying herself only as a Donna writes: "WOW! I felt the pain in you today, she didn't even get it, it is about a friend sticking up for a friend. You will be missed!" Replies O'Donnell: "sad."

Another fan, identified as pokey, writes: " Was stunned the way EH was going at u. U have said she is ur friend. I would not want a friend like her. I could hear in your voice the pain u feel PEACE2U," to which O'Donnell replied, "shock mostly."

But the question is also put on the table over whether O'Donnell will even return to the program. One fan asks on the Web site: "Rosie! Will you be back on The View? When?"

"No idea," responds O'Donnell, who had already been planning to take Thursday off to celebrate the 40th birthday of her partner, Kelli Carpenter. O'Donnell's contract expires next month.

The question crops up again after a fan named Sher writes: "Your hurt feelings by EH are an example of your geniuneness and why I applaud your decision to leave. The fight today was painful for anyone who cares about you. Please walk away. It's not worth it."

Responds O'Donnell: "well u know when its time 2 go."

Asked if O'Donnell will be back on the show Monday, a spokesperson for The View tells PEOPLE, "Yes." O'Donnell's rep was unavailable for comment.

The on-air political debate erupted less over differences of opinion than what seemed to be O'Donnell's annoyance that Hasselbeck has not defended her from attacks by conservative news sources.

But later on Wednesday, Hasselbeck, 29, told TV's Extra that she and O'Donnell, 45, harbor no resentment toward one another. "The best thing about today is that there's no slow boil, none. It's there, it's an issue, it's dealt with and it's over," she said.

Not one to stay out of a View controversy, Donald Trump also weighed in – this time taking aim at Hasselbeck. "On this one I think Rosie should win," he told Extra. "I think anybody that's against the war in Iraq is the winner of the fight, because to justify the war in Iraq – only an imbecile could do that."

There has also been online chatter over another, less explosive moment on Wednesday's View in which guest Alicia Silverstone appeared to snub Hasselbeck. The Clueless star appeared on Wednesday's show immediately after the contretemps – and ignored Hasselbeck as she went on to hug the others. A rep for Silverstone refused to comment.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Speaks Out About Rosie Fight

Elisabeth Hasselbeck wants fans to know that she and Rosie O'Donnell are still friends after their on-air fight on Wednesday's View.

"I am fine," Hasselbeck, 29, tells TV's Extra. "We are used to debating things there. You have women who care a lot about things."

Despite the harsh words exchanged, there's no lingering resentment, she says: "The best thing about today is that there's no slow boil, none. It's there, it's an issue, it's dealt with and it's over. If there are tensions, [and] obviously there was, it's dealt with in the moment."

Hasselbeck has always said she's friends with O'Donnell when the cameras aren't rolling, and she tells Extra that's still true. "We've invested a lot into our friendship," she says. "We also have a lot of passion. The best thing about us is that we are honest and deal with things up front."

She says she's optimistic that she and O'Donnell, who have often argued over politics and, in particular, the Iraq war, will be able to resolve their differences. "I honestly think, I believe that we are mature women who can resolve," she says. "I hope we can. I would hope that a disagreement or a heated debate wouldn't be the end of a relationship. ... They take work. I'm hoping that can happen here too. I don't think that is impossible at all."

Asked what it will be like going to work on Thursday, Hasselbeck says, "It'll be a little awkward, I'm sure. Whenever we have a heated debate, the next day is awkward. I bet we'll talk about some fun things."

Meanwhile, O'Donnell has also spoken out about the confrontation, in her own unique way. On her blog Wednesday afternoon, she wrote in her signature haiku style, under the headline "cease fire":

a split screen

new heights

or lows

depending on who u ask

And perhaps Hasselbeck doesn't have to worry about awkwardness at the office on Thursday. O'Donnell concludes: "tomorrow kelli turns 40/ i will not be at work."

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Keeping the Fake Friendship Alive

For those of you who missed it yesterday, shit got mad AWKWARD on "The View" when Rosie and Elisabeth got in to a heated political discussion, that devolved into what sounded a hell of a lot more personal than a simple difference of opinion on politics. In an obvious, albeit well-worded attempt to make it sound like this little spat ain't a thing, Elisabeth talked to Extra after yesterday's taping and said the following, which can be viewed on video here:

"For two women who disagree on many things - socially, politically - we also have a lot of passion. I'd rather be dealing with someone with passion for this world that we live in than someone with apathy."

I have to say that I admire her commitment to the ruse of this relationship. The two of them could be riddled with bullets from a gunfight, both lying in the street, bleeding to death and with her final breath, Elisabeth would say, "We're agreeing to *cough* disagree."

Rosie O'Donnell Ditching "The View" Early

Despite Elisabeth Hasselbeck's attempt to make it sound like everything's still hunky dory on "The View" immediately following her and Rosie O'Donnell's on-air cat-fight, Rosie's blog makes it sound like she's not quite as interested in keeping up appearances as her perky co-host. In an entry dated May 23rd, Rosie writes:

like it or not

tomorrow kelli turns 40

i will not be at work

You know what has the potential to be totally punk rock in this situation? If Rosie called said, "Um yeah. I'm not coming in today. I burned my foot on my Foreman Grill." But, it seems that TMZ chatted with a rep for "The View," who has assured them that Rosie had already planned not to be in to work that day in order to celebrate her partner's birthday with her. Man, it sucks that she's leaving the show. Now, I'm going to have to rely on Pay-Per-View for all the really good fights.

Donald Trump Slams Both `View' Co-Hosts

Donald Trump has exchanged insults with Rosie O'Donnell and questions Elisabeth Hasselbeck's intelligence. So which co-host does he back in their recent on-air tiff on ABC's "The View"?

Neither, apparently.

"I've always said Rosie is very self-destructive," Trump said Thursday in Chicago. "... As far as Elisabeth Hasselbeck, I've always said she's probably the dumbest person on television, but when she called me ... obnoxious, she was probably right."

The argument Wednesday included O'Donnell calling Hasselbeck "cowardly" for not defending her when media outlets suggested that she'd called U.S. troops "terrorists" during a previous debate.

"What you did was not defend me. ... I asked you if you believed what the Republican pundits were saying you said nothing, and that's cowardly," O'Donnell said.

Hasselbeck responded: "Do not call me a coward, because No. 1, I sit here every single day, open my heart and tell people what I believe."

Trump, who started trading barbs with O'Donnell about six months ago, said he doesn't watch the ABC daytime talk show then got in another O'Donnell dig.

"Rosie wears thin. Rosie will go on to another show, and like her first show, it'll fail," he said.

Trump was in Chicago to drum up sales for his towering condo-hotel project, under construction along the Chicago River.

His reality show, "The Apprentice," was left off NBC's 2007-2008 prime-time schedule.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck's Face Defaced at The View?

Their on-air brawl is over, but the Rosie-Elisabeth controversy continues.

The latest: The New York Post's Page Six column is reporting that a Rosie O'Donnell staffer was escorted out of the ABC building on Thursday after she was caught drawing moustaches on pictures of Hasselbeck that hang in the View studios.

O'Donnell's rep was not immediately available for comment Friday. ABC confirmed in a statement that "photographs at The View's offices were defaced," the Post reports. "Rosie O'Donnell was not in the building. ABC Legal and Human Resources are investigating the matter." The statement did not say who was responsible for the vandalism.

Although Thursday's episode was preempted for a Presidential address, O'Donnell had taken the day off to celebrate the 40th birthday of her partner, Kelli Carpenter.

When the show opened, co-host Barbara Walters, who had been absent during Wednesday's dust-up, said: "Welcome to The View. ... Aunt Barbara is back, and there will be peace in the kingdom. It's a hot weekend, so everybody cool off!"

Meanwhile, O'Donnell has continued to express her feelings on her blog. After writing on Thursday that she felt "sad" about the confrontation, she posted a video of swimming ducks accompanied by the John Mayer song "Vultures" (lyrics include: "How will I hold my head to keep from going under?").

On Friday, O'Donnell posted on her site a new video titled True Colors 2007 and which features snapshots of herself, Walters, Hasslebeck and others, along with newspaper clippings and even unflattering editorial cartoon depictions of O'Donnell. The sequence is set to the Cyndi Lauper song "Sisters of Avalon."

According to the Post, The View expects O'Donnell to be back at work on Tuesday. She's scheduled to leave the show in June.

She's Deface Of Rosie Revenge

May 25, 2007 -- ROSIE O'Donnell left "The View" with a bang, not a whimper, following her on-air smackdown with co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck on Wednesday.

Yesterday, Rosie's chief writer, Janette Barber, was allegedly escorted from the building after she was caught drawing moustaches on photographs of Hasselbeck that hang in the "View" studios.

The Post's Adam Buckman reports ABC confirmed in a statement only that "photographs at 'The View's' offices were defaced. Rosie O'Donnell was not in the building. ABC Legal and Human Resources are investigating the matter." Barber is an old friend of O'Donnell who worked with her years ago on "The Rosie O'Donnell Show."

There were also rumors O'Donnell was so angry after her argument with Hasselbeck that she trashed her dressing room, although ABC denied the tantrum.

Meanwhile, "The View" went on yesterday without O'Donnell, who was taking a previously planned day off to celebrate partner Kelli Carpenter's 40th birthday.

Hasselbeck - who had tangled with O'Donnell before about President Bush's handling of the Iraq war - was on the show with Joy Behar, Barbara Walters and guest host Kathy Griffin. The four discussed the blowup only briefly before switching topics.

As for O'Donnell, she's been posting comments on her personal Web site, rosie.com, fueling speculation she might not return to "The View" ever again. Her scheduled last day is Wednesday, June 20.

When one fan wrote, "Work isn't worth that battle," Rosie replied, "Agreed." Another wrote, "Please walk away. It's not worth it." Rosie replied, "Well, you know when it's time to go."

To a fan who asked when she would return, O'Donnell answered, "No idea."

Yesterday, O'Donnell posted a video that may have symbolized how she's feeling about "The View."

The tape consisted of ducks swimming in a pond accompanied by an audio track of the John Mayer song "Vultures," whose lyrics include "How will I hold my head to keep from going under?"

Officially, "The View" expects O'Donnell to return to work on Tuesday.

Rosie just quit.

I am really glad. Elizabeth is the worst of humanity and Rosie did not need any more of her shit. I cannot wait to see the View ratings fall through the floor. Elizabeth should be the one leaving and owes Rosie and all of us who have had to watch her and her propaganda a huge apology.

Elizabeth: YOU SUCK. -_- -_- -_- -_- -_-

Rosie: Clear sailing, I'm rooting for you!!!

No Awesome Fight to Report from Wednesday's Episode of "The View"

Filed under: Careers , Celebrities , Rosie O'Donnell

In case you happened to watch "The View" yesterday, you'll notice that it was missing something. Namely, Rosie O'Donnell. As we mentioned earlier in the week, Ro (as she's programmed on our speed-dial), had already planned to be out of the office for her partner's 40th birthday and was nowhere to be seen on "The View." Instead, a very diplomatic and utterly charming (yet decidedly NOT antagonistic) Kathy Griffin filled in for O'Donnell. And although she looked like she did an extremely good job making light of the whole debacle, the problem is that I'm like a shark that's already smelled some blood. And yeah, I'm hungry for some more. I want these chicks to go at it, West Side Story-style! Unfortunately, it's not yet clear if I'll get my wish anytime soon, according to a Thursday AM post from TMZ.

Still, as of this morning, all Rosie was sayin' was that she didn't know when she'd be back -- if at all, according to her blog. And, more officially, Babwa called any suggestion that yesterday's fight was scripted "ridiculous."

If only there were a way to get Star Jones back into the mix, not that her frail little bobble-head would stand a fighting chance anymore...

Rosie's Writer Escorted From "The View"

Seriously, how will the producers of this show keep up the momentum after Ro leaves? Post-shrieky catfight with Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Rosie O'Donnell's "chief writer" Janette Barber was escorted from the "The View" studios by security. It seems that she was defacing pictures of Elisabeth Hasselbeck that hang in the studio lobby. By drawing moustaches on them. Damn, the lesbian mafia is on the move. Watch out, Liz! They're gonna find you in a shallow grave in Northhampton, MA!

The Post's Adam Buckman reports ABC confirmed in a statement only that "photographs at 'The View's' offices were defaced. Rosie O'Donnell was not in the building. ABC Legal and Human Resources are investigating the matter." Barber is an old friend of O'Donnell who worked with her years ago on "The Rosie O'Donnell Show." There were also rumors O'Donnell was so angry after her argument with Hasselbeck that she trashed her dressing room, although ABC denied the tantrum.

Rosie, meanwhile, is writing vague answers to fan's questions on her haiku site and officially due back on Tuesday. Drawing moustaches is kinda quaint. That chick must be old school. Like "Guys and Dolls" old school. Most of today's broads would have written "DOUCHE" across her forehead and keyed her car. I'm not kidding. We live in a violent cutthroat world. Lock your doors.

I say good riddance to Rosie. There is a proper way to hold a debate and after viewing the footage, that wasn't it. She attacks Elisabeth and her views every single day, yet is angry because Elisabeth didn't stand up for her? IMO, that is not right.

ETA: And the defacement of pictures by her staff is just ridiculous.

Hey, Remember When Rosie and Elisabeth Threw Down?

Filed under: Bad Behavior , Feuds , Rosie O'Donnell

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoFH-BAHqN4...ew%5Fdown%2Ephp

You know, like a million years ago? I know, I know, it's been a hot second since we were excitedly analyzing and reporting how Rosie O'Donnell and Elisabeth Hasselbeck got into a very heated discussion earlier this week, that has since been dissected and been damage-controlled (Yes, I just verbed that. And, I'm verbing some more, apparently...) into near oblivion. But, much like the conspiracy theorists who enjoy watching JFK assassination footage over and over and over again, we've found a new aspect about the blow-up to touch upon.

As you may or may not have already noticed, Alicia Silverstone, the guest who appeared to greet "The View" ladies immediately following the Rosie vs. Elisabeth spat, very obviously declined to hug Elisabeth upon taking her seat among them on the couch. I'm guessing it's because she hadn't yet watched this.

Trump Backing Rosie On This One

Holy hell. Wackjob has come out in support of Rosie in her holy war against that twit girl . People are crazy, and the crazier you get - the more ink you get. Someone should write a fable. There could be a cow or a scorpion. And a milkmaid and a finger in a dyke! Err...let's get to what Trump said:

"On this one I think Rosie should win, but Rosie is not much herself. I think anybody that's against the war in Iraq is the winner of the fight, because to justify the war in Iraq -- only an imbecile could do that," he told "Extra."

About Hasselbeck's political views, especially on the war in Iraq, he added, "Elisabeth is not a very smart person, she's one of the dumber people in television. To see that she supports the war, and she's solidly behind the war, give me a break."

Trump later told reporters that Hasselbeck was "probably the dumbest person on TV."

HAH! How did he go from weird combover blowhard to my hero so fast?

Rosie Quit Early

Rosie ain't coming back . Damn, don't let that stupid bim win! Get over it! Represent! This is such a stupid-ass fight. Is this a playground?

Brian Frons, President of ABC Daytime, issued the following statement:

"We had hoped that Rosie would be with us until the end of her contract three weeks from now, but Rosie has informed us that she would like an early leave. Therefore, we part ways, thank her for her tremendous contribution to 'The View' and wish her well."

And Ro had this to say:

"I'm extremely grateful. It's been an amazing year and I love all three women."

Three? Yeah right. Joy Behar's probably siked she can be the sole loudmouth bitch on the show. You know she orchestrated this whole mess. I don't trust her as far as I can throw her and with your bad knee, Ed that isn't very far.

O'Donnell Will Not Be Back on 'The View'

ABC Announces Early Departure for Host From GMA May 25, 2007

Rosie O'Donnell will not be returning to "The View."

In a statement today, Brian Frons, the president of Disney-ABC's Daytime Television Group, said, "We had hoped that Rosie would be with us until the end of her contract three weeks from now, but Rosie has informed us that she would like an early leave. Therefore, we part ways, thank her for her tremendous contribution to 'The View' and wish her well."

Barbara Walters, the show's creator and co-executive producer, said, "I brought Rosie to the show. Rosie contributed to one of our most exciting and successful years at 'The View.' I am most appreciative. Our close and affectionate relationship will not change."

In her statement, O'Donnell said, "I'm extremely grateful. It's been an amazing year and I love all three women."

And on her Web site Thursday, O'Donnell wrote: "When painting there is a point u must step away from the canvas as the work is done."

O'Donnell announced at the end of April she was leaving "The View," and her last day was supposed to be June 20.

The Final Straw?

O'Donnell and Elisabeth Hasselbeck have repeatedly gotten into heated political discussions on "The View." And more than once the two appeared to reconcile. Almost a month ago O'Donnell wrote on her blog, "On the view u have seen my last hasselbeck spat 2 day was it no more -- its done."

But fans of the talk show got more than the usual chat and gossip Wednesday when a long-running Iraq War debate between O'Donnell and Hasselbeck erupted into a verbal sparring match. It quickly turned personal, sparking a larger debate about what Americans can and cannot say about the war.

Wednesday's debate was the culmination of a fight that started on "The View" last week, when O'Donnell said, "655,000 Iraqi civilians have died. Who are the terrorists?"

Conservative critics said O'Donnell was calling U.S. troops terrorists. Wednesday, Hasselbeck said O'Donnell should clarify her statement.

"I asked you if you believed what the Republican pundits were saying," O'Donnell said to Hasselbeck.

"Did I say yes?" Hasselbeck replied.

"You said nothing and that's cowardly," O'Donnell shot back.

"No, no, no. Do not call me a coward because I sit here every single day, open my heart and tell people exactly what I believe," Hasselbeck shouted.

So do I," retorted O'Donnell.

Keep Your Frenemies Close

After her co-hosts did some cooling off, Barbara Walters, the show's creator and co-executive producer, declared a peace and shot down any speculation that the argument was fabricated for ratings.

"Welcome to 'The View' … so Aunt Barbara is back and there will be peace in the kingdom," Walters said in an exclusive statement to ABC News Thursday. "Rosie O'Donnell is off today: It is her partner Kelly's birthday, so Rosie asked to have the day off."

"It's a hot weekend, so everybody can cool off," Walters continued. "And for those who think, let us say, the interesting day, was planned for ratings -- that's just absurd. The highest ratings we've had for 'The View' this whole year were in February, when there were no feuds."

In Wednesday's exchange, there were no threats of violence, but both hosts seemed on the verge of tears, and the audience seemed incredibly uncomfortable.

"Every time I defend them, Elisabeth, it's poor little Elisabeth that I'm picking on," O'Donnell said.

"You know what? Poor little Elisabeth is not poor little Elisabeth," Hasselbeck shot back.

"That's right. That's why I'm not going to fight with you anymore because it's absurd," O'Donnell said as the debate wound down. Co-host Joy Behar called for a commercial break and the audience broke into applause.

Ro's Future

O'Donnell's future in TV is uncertain. On the day she officially announced she was leaving "The View," she said she would return for future projects. "I'm not going away. I'm just not going to be here every day," said O'Donnell.

But recent events on the show imply she's over it.

On her Web site today, Rosie has a collage video scrapbook of sorts, of pictures and memories from her experiences on "The View." It's played to the tune of Cyndi Lauper's "Sisters of Avalon."

Lauper sings, "And a distant drum rumbling under ground gently guides me on..."

O'Donnell has been guided on...on from "The View."

O'Donnell quits U.S. talk show early after spat

Combative U.S. talk show host Rosie O'Donnell has decided to leave ABC's "The View" early after an on-air spat with Elisabeth Hasselbeck over the Iraq war that aired repeatedly on cable TV, the network said on Friday.

"We had hoped that Rosie would be with us until the end of her contract three weeks from now, but Rosie has informed us that she would like an early leave," Brian Frons, president of ABC Daytime Television, said in a statement,

"Therefore, we part ways, thank her for her tremendous contribution to 'The View' and wish her well."

The show's creator and co-executive producer, Barbara Walters, said: "I brought Rosie to the show. Rosie contributed to one of our most exciting and successful years at 'The View.' I am most appreciative. Our close and affectionate relationship will not change."

And O'Donnell said, "I'm extremely grateful. It's been an amazing year and I love all three women," a reference to her co-hosts including Hasselbeck with whom she sparred angrily with on Wednesday.

O'Donnell, known for her unabashedly liberal views, and Hasselbeck, who is a political conservative, have sparred frequently on the show, although they profess to be good friends off-camera.

Their latest exchange on Wednesday, perhaps their most heated, was a continuation of a debate over the Iraq war that began last week when O'Donnell said on the show, "655,000 Iraqi civilians have died. Who are the terrorists?"

Supporters of the U.S. war effort accused O'Donnell of equating American soldiers with terrorists, and Hasselbeck said on Wednesday that O'Donnell should clarify her statement.

In the ensuing shouting match, the two women ended up calling each other "cowardly" before a commercial break ended the confrontation.

O'Donnell surprised viewers last month when she announced on the show that she had decided to end her run as co-host of "The View" when her contract expires in mid-June after just nine months on the air.

But she said then that she planned to return to the show next season for special segments and as a recurring guest host. It was not immediately clear whether she would and representatives for ABC were not available for comment.

O'Donnell has been a ratings booster for the ABC daytime show and has caused controversy with tart-tongued comments aimed at leading public figures, including real estate developer Donald Trump.

Rosie Fights Last Fight on 'The View'

Rosie O'Donnell has fought her last fight at "The View." ABC said Friday she asked for, and received, an early exit from her contract at the daytime chatfest following her angry confrontation with co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck on Wednesday. She was due to leave in mid-June.

It ended a colorful eight-month tenure for O'Donnell that lifted the show's ratings but no doubt caused heartburn for show creator Barbara Walters. O'Donnell feuded with Donald Trump and frequently had snippy exchanges with the more conservative Hasselbeck.

O'Donnell said last month she would be leaving because she could not agree to a new contract with ABC executives.

"Rosie contributed to one of our most exciting and successful years at `The View,'" Walters said. "I am most appreciative. Our close and affectionate relationship will not change."

In a statement, O'Donnell said that "it's been an amazing year and I love all three women."

No one was feeling the love on Wednesday, when the argument with Hasselbeck began over O'Donnell's statement last week about the war: "655,000 Iraqi civilians have died. Who are the terrorists?"

Talk show critics accused O'Donnell of calling U.S. troops terrorists. She called Hasselbeck "cowardly" for not saying anything in response to the critics.

"Do not call me a coward, because No. 1, I sit here every single day, open my heart and tell people what I believe," Hasselbeck retorted, and their riveting exchange continued despite failed attempts by their co-hosts to cut to a commercial.

According to a New York Post report, O'Donnell's chief writer, Janette Barber, was allegedly led out of the building on Wednesday after she was caught drawing mustaches on photographs of Hasselbeck in "The View" studios. ABC executives didn't return repeated calls for questions on the incident Friday.

On Thursday O'Donnell had asked for a day off to celebrate her partner's birthday. "The View" aired a taped show on Friday.

On her Web site, O'Donnell posted a scrapbooklike video on Friday with pictures and news clippings of her tenure at "The View." Cyndi Lauper's "Sisters of Babylon" played in the background.

A day earlier, she posted messages on her Web site indicating she might not be back.

"When painting there is a point u must step away from the canvas as the work is done," she wrote. "Any more would take away."

Trump -- "Disgusting" Rosie's Exit a "Great Service"

Posted May 25th 2007 4:15PM by TMZ Staff

Filed under: Celebrity Feuds, Rosie O'Donnell

His Comboverness, Donald Trump, just couldn't resist taking one more swinging kick at Rosie O'Donnell on her way out the door of ABC, saying, "A great service was done by getting her off the airwaves ... she's a disaster."

The billionaire blowhard offered his pointed barbs to MSNBC this afternoon, just minutes after Rosie announced her departure ... and they were like a greatest hits compilation of Trump's Ro disses. "She's not a very smart person," check. "She's disgusting to look at," check. "She's aggressive," check. Of course, he had to get in a dig at Elisabeth Hasselbeck, calling her a "dimwit." Trump is against the Iraq war.

Donald, whose own show, "The Apprentice," just got axed by NBC, predicted that "The View's" ratings would rise in the wake of Ro's farewell, but declared that "The View" had become an "embarrassment" to Barbara Walters.

I think that Elizabeth and those other crazy mofos twisted what Rosie had said around to villify her, because Rosie was talking about the people pulling the strings and making the decisions, and since when do any of the troops ever choose anything? They are just following orders. Its illogical that Rosie would even target the soldiers like that! Thats why its bullshit for Elizabitch HassleCRACKWHORE to use that to try to disarm Rosie. People who use tactics like that know their arguement is flawed because they wouldn't NEED to do this if that was not true.

In regards to Trump, doesn't it seem a little weird that he is so into attacking Rosie? I can't help but think it has something to do with her sexuality more than anything else.

Rosie’s ‘View’ won’t be the same without her

Love or hate her, she got some interesting conversations going on the show

COMMENTARY

By Miki Turner

MSNBC contributor

Meow. The reign of Rosie is over.

I guess we should have expected that a woman who would take the day off to celebrate her life partner’s 40th birthday — when she basically only has to work about an hour a day — would be the same kind of gal who would have the courage of her convictions and leave that gig purportedly over the sparring match beamed around the world.

Two days after her heated debate with co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck comes word that Rosie O’Donnell is leaving “The View.” Her sudden departure from the morning chat fest she had anchored since last September comes three weeks ahead of her planned exit.

She said she didn’t want to fight with Hasselbeck any more and now she won’t have to — at least not on TV.

The Disney statement read: “We had hoped that Rosie would be with us until the end of her contract three weeks from now, but Rosie has informed us that she would like an early leave. Therefore, we part ways, thank her for her tremendous contribution to ‘The View’ and wish her well.”

While it is less surprising than the “take this job and shove it” exodus of her predecessor, Star Jones Reynolds, it’s just as jarring.

Apparently neither Rosie or Star got the memo about daytime TV.

Everyone is supposed to play nice. You’re supposed to save all the drama for the soaps!

But you can bet that all the stay-at-home moms, all the college students packing up for the summer and those of us on the left coast who wanted to sleep late but got tipped off about a knock-down, drag-out fight on “The View” from friends on the East Coast, were totally appreciative to be ringside for Rosie vs. Elisabeth, Round 625.

I’d rather watch a good verbal beat down than Mayweather vs. De La Hoya any day.

Joy gets the party started

On Wednesday, it all started with Joy Behar’s Bush-bashing laundry list. You could see the pre-natal veins in Hasselbeck’s head starting to protrude, especially after Behar accused Bush of stealing the election in 2000. The further down the list Behar got, the more agitated Hasselbeck became.

After a short series of soft punches from Hasselbeck — remember her using TiVo as a defense on why she chose to watch “Dancing With the Stars” as opposed to Al Gore on CNN? — it became painfully apparent that Behar was going to win that round. Not one of Hasselback’s jabs landed.

Meanwhile, we have O’Donnell in the opposite corner stewing. Her lips are probably still sore because her pearly whites were obviously clamping down on them. But when Hasselbeck began defending the war, Mt. St. O’Donnell blew.

“The enemy is in Iraq? Did Iraq attack us?”

Honey, get the popcorn! It’s about to go down!

You could kind of see it coming because O’Donnell, who referred to herself as a “big fat loud lesbian” on Wednesday’s show, had been abnormally quiet throughout the entire Behar vs. Hasselbeck undercard. O’Donnell had been on the show long enough to know that it’s lose-lose any time she shares her opinions in that public forum.

Especially when Barbara Walters isn’t there to be the voice of calm and reason.

The problem with O’Donnell is that her self-avowed description of herself alienates a lot of the nice people who prefer more sanitized programming before lunch. They want to hear mindless banter about clothes, nutrition, weight loss, hot guys. But O’Donnell, who wears her gayness proudly and loudly and moderates the discussions on the show’s “Hot Topics” segments, like to discuss issues so flaming that even Walters’ reactions have become increasingly more subjective.

That’s why O’Donnell consistently finds herself vilified in the press when she attacks “innocent pure Christian Elisabeth.” If the two of them were selling soap, it’s probably safe to assume that many Americans would prefer buying it from a pretty blonde whose values are more morally sound.

Grow up, Elizabeth

Yet, at the risk of sounding overtly judgmental, I don’t really care for Hasselbeck. It’s nothing personal because I’ve never met her. I just don’t think she adds anything to the show and she’s a little too whiny for that time of day. She has that kind of voice that brings back memories of fingernails screeching on the chalkboard. I kind of wish she would have triplets and move to that rural area in Ohio that Dave Chappelle calls home.

Like Dave, she’s got some growing to do.

What truly amazes me, however, is that it apparently hasn’t occurred to Hasselbeck that she’s one of the only people in the country — blind, crippled, crazy or Republican — that still defends Bush and the war in Iraq.

You don’t have to ride the current wave, jump on the Al Sharpton bandwagon or be a hater — that certainly won’t get you that coveted invite to the state dinner for Queen Elizabeth — but, dang get a clue already!

Conversely, I’m fairly indifferent when it comes to O’Donnell. I think she must like the taste of her own toes because she puts her foot in her mouth a lot. I think she was wrong for mocking the Chinese language and perhaps should have suffered harsher consequences when she claimed it was all in the name of comedy. And I was over that whole Donald Trump feud the day before it actually started.

The difference between O’Donnell and Hasselbeck is that even though you may not always agree with either of them, at the end of the day you still have some respect for O’Donnell’s convictions. It takes a lot of courage to out yourself on national TV — and I’m not talking about her sexuality.

And, when it comes to politics and friendship, I’m often on the same page with Ms. Ro.

That’s why I knew that O’Donnell was hurting that day even before she asked Hasselbeck if she had been there for her every time she’d been slammed in the press. This feud, which actually started Monday when Republican pundits criticized O’Donnell for insinuating that the U.S. troops in Iraq were the true terrorists, went a lot deeper than a heated debate over politics and war.

Hurt feelings rule the day

O’Donnell may be loud, but she appears to be a little insecure, too. In her world true friends stand up for and stand by each other. And while Rosie, who considered Hasselbeck a friend, might not take a bullet for her, she’d probably push her out the way. That’s why when Hasselbeck couldn’t or wouldn’t answer O’Donnell’s question about whether she felt O’Donnell believed our troops were terrorists, it was like a dart to the heart.

In her defense, however, Hasselbeck did say she didn’t believe O’Donnell felt that way, but O’Donnell had stepped aboard a fast moving train, leaving her friend behind at the depot. This is a scenario that plays out in the lives of millions of people daily. Feelings get hurt, your hearing becomes more selective and the claws come out.

Before you know it, things have been said and regrets have been realized. And women, particularly, sometimes have problems getting over things in a timely manner.

Ladies, didn’t we learn anything from Paris and Nicole?

There’s no way of telling what will happen to O’Donnell and Hasselbeck’s friendship. O’Donnell did say in that ABC statement that “she loved all three women,” but that could have been the expressed sentiment of some summer intern.

Personally, however, I’m pretty bummed O’Donnell is not coming back to enjoy the view. I was looking forward to her return on Tuesday.

First, I wanted to hear how I could get a day off to celebrate my man’s birthday and still have a job upon my return to work. Second, I wanted to see how O’Donnell and Hasselbeck were going to interact with each other while sitting on opposite ends of the desk. If it got ugly, I’d have to go with Ro for the first round TKO. Were they going to play pretty or was it going to play like a scene from “General Hospital.”

You would hope cooler heads would prevail, but it is a sweeps month.

But you know what? A few good things did come out of this fracas. One, most of America learned that more than 655,000 innocent Iraqis had been killed in this senseless war. That is bound to challenge the way the people who support this war and this administration think. Two, we now know that passionate people with issues make for good TV no matter what time of day it is. Three, skin is thin. People on TV should wear leather jackets. O’Donnell called Hasselbeck a coward, but she’s the one who will be sitting in that chair when the show resumes it’s live schedule on Tuesday morning.

And lastly, since the view from “The View” has become so incredibly murky that it’s probably time to close the blinds. If not, the aging Walters might have the unenviable task of replacing herself.

Drawing Moustaches on Hasselcrack?!

Janette Barber is Rosie O'Donnell's head writer on "The View" and she was escorted from the building when she was caught drawing moustaches on Elisabeth Hasselbeck's picture in the lobby of the studio. WTF?!!! ABC confirmed that Elisabeth's picture was defaced, but won't say who did it. How old is this Janette bitch? 12?

Rosie is expected to return to the show on Tuesday, but several messages on her blog lead people to believe that she won't be back.

Ugh! I was on Team Rosie, but now she's an annoying slag. So what you had a stupid fight? So effin what? Grow up and do your job. Even though Elisabeth is about as pleasant as a wax to the ass lips, she's still going to work and not bitching and moaning about it. Get over it Rosie!
