Somewhere I read where the creator of the show said this year's finale is going to be the best ever and that it will answer all questions viewers have.Um . . . . isn't that what they said last year? Because I don't always catch this show, I'm waaaayyy too lost to watch it anymore.

I have to get this off my chest. I can't stand Michael. I - can't - stand - him. I don't care about him. I don't care about Walt. If he screams "Waaalllltttt" one more time I'm going to put my fist through the screen. Why is Sayid the only one left with any sense? Doesn't Jack think it's a bit strange that Michael has a list for who gets to go on this little rescue mission? What exactly does Claire see in the Hobbitt? Not too recently, he kidnapped her baby and now she's making nicey-nice with her.

If it were me, I would have kicked Jack to the curb (as a leader, not out of bed :D) - he's too winey for me. And agree about MIchael, he just bugs the crap out of me. I am interested in Walt though, they made it sound like he can do some neat tricks. Everyone always keeping secrets from each other, WTF is that about?!?! If they'd all just be honest with each other, things would go a lot smoother. Yes, Sayid is only one with a brain these days.Yet, I'm still totally into this show....

I so agree with you about Jack. This self appointed leadership position is plain annoying. I love it how he orders everyone around - not!And yeah, I'm also still totally into the show :)

LOL I still say the best thing about Walt and Michael is Vincent :DYes, Jack needs to grow a brain. Why didn't one of the big, strong men help Kate with the digging? Why on earth would Claire take some kind of medicine from Charlie? wouldn't she check it out from the real doctor Jack, first?I keep thinking what have we really learned this season. Ok there are others and a hatch. But didn't we learn that Last season? If next week's finale is the greatest show evah, I'll take back the snarks.

Who Wants a Six-inch Sawyer?

Not only is ABC's Lost being developed into a video-game franchise, but in time for this fall's Season 3 premiere you will be able to get your hands on a six-inch tall Jack, Locke or Charlie. Variety reports that Touchstone TV is partnering with MacFarlane Toys to create a line of action figures based on the show's characters, past and present, each accessorized with an appropriate prop (e.g., Hurley has his kung fu grip on a lottery ticket). Already, my Captain Kirk and Colonel Steve Austin are discussing the baaaaad things they want to do with Kate. It's disturbing, really.

Only watched the first hour so far, but still hate Michael. He only mentioned "Waaalllltttt" one time (if I was paying attention) so he wasn't AS annoying as he usually is. :)Seeing Jin, Sun and Sayid together made me realize that they have been somewhat missing from the past several episodes. I could use more of them and less of Michael.

Okay, this is all theory by Kristin based on what we already know so not going to post in spoilers, but one of the bullet points does say that a character is not set to return much next season so that is kinda spoilery and that's in white text...

Kristin of E!

Oh my god. I figured it out.

The Others killed Marissa Cooper. How else would you explain Caleb being the big baddie and the boat leaving from Newport Beach?

In all seriousness, I *LOVED this finale! (And if you didn't get the joke above, fear not - you're just not watching the OC and good for you. It's just a reference to 2 OC connections last night.)

Of course, we ALWAYS want more info but there were some pretty fantastic reveals last night - what brought down the plane, why Desmond was there, etc. -- and most importantly, Josh and Naveen shirtless in the first two minutes!? Hello! You can't beat that with a Jesus stick!! (Though I did find it funny that Matthew kept his shirt on -- strange behavior for a nudist.)

Anyhoodles, here's what I'm thinking after last night's episode. And mind you, some of this is just speculation so take it with a heap of salt:

*Michael is gone for good. Eko and Locke will survive. Seems pretty obvious, right? They would NEVER kill off Locke or Ecko (I've already sent my threatening emails to Damon Lindelof on the matter). As I've been saying, Harold Perrineau is no longer a series regular next season (that is fact). So, it seems that Walt and Michael really will sail away. However, my hunch is that we'll see Walt again since he can "appear in places he wasn't supposed to be." Michael *could return if Harold returns as a guest star, but I know of no current plans to do so.

*Michael Emmerson (Henry Gale) should win an Emmy. No, he should win ALL the Emmys. And it seems clear now that FH (Faux Henry, not to be confused with a Future Husband) is the head of the Others on the island. However, I'm convinced that it's Daddy Widmore who is the big "Him" pulling all the strings ... from the mainland.

*That said, my *guess is that Widmore Industries (seen before in a sign on a factory in London and Sun's pregnancy test) is running the big experiment on the island, and Daddy W's (Widmore, not Warbucks) Race Around the World intentionally sent Desmond to that island to get him away from his daughter.

*Expanding on that, my theory is that Libby was in on it all along (I've smelled Eau du Other on her since day one!). Perhaps that crappy-ass, fake page-boy wig she had in the flashback was intentionally crappy-ass because she was indeed an Other (they do like that fake hair and seriously, ABC *should have the budget for a more realistic wig). 'Elizabeth' could have been a clinical psychologist working on the Dharma Initiative who was sent out in the real world (the coffee shop, the insane asylum) to get Desmond and Hurley to the island (which would explain the ridiculous coinkidink of her having a boat, and perhaps they needed to get Hurley away because he knew about the numbers from someone who had been on the island before and went berzerk). This would explain the whole thing with the backpack in 'The Other 48 Days' episode, when Cindy (flight attendant) was carrying a red backpack in one scene, then in the next, Libby was carrying it and Cindy was gone. Also, it's possible Libby wasn't even on the plane. Did we ever see her? Am I forgetting that? I'm pretty sure she just appeared in the water after the crash and later told a lame lie to Hurley that he stepped on her foot on the plane -- when she was in the tail section and he was in the fuselage, and I'm not geometry whiz but that doesn't add up.

*The Magnets: Every time the button isn't pushed it launches a deadly magnetic field which brought down the plane. And it makes the island detectable. Clearly, Penny knows of this and is using it to track down Desmond. The Brazilians (inspired by my Brazilian boyfriend, I'd like to think, since we had dinner with Damon a few months back and my B.F. told him they need Brazilians on the show - true story!) said something like “we can't miss it again,” perhaps referring to Sept 22 when the plane came down. One could guess that they are at the North or South pole where you would pick up electromagnetic frequencies more strongly. Perhaps if the island's magnetic balance isn't kept in check, the Earth's poles would go off their axis … ? Am I losing my mind?

*The bird called Hurley's name to remind us that there are mystical elements on this island that cannot be explained. And I keep thinking there's got to be something in the food - and that Hurley not eating it (it seems like he still isn't, right?) will make him hear and see things differently than everyone else. The food could be drugged. Just a thought.

*The Others might really be “Good.” Perhaps The Others are not willing participants … Just a thought. So far they have been stealing children and the “good” ones and taking them out of the game/experiment, to protect them or send them home. My sense is that the reason they're taking Jack, Kate and Sawyer is to take out the strongest players and to leave the Losties leaderless. Enter Mr. Eko vs. Locke vying for power next season …

*Charlie is evil now? Seems like it, doesn't it? If he is, I feel like it might be one of those twists that wasn't planned all along … but rather the producers finding a reason to keep Dom involved in the show because a) they love him B) he's had a crap-ass season and c) it doesn't hurt to keep your leading lady's man in happy and in Hawaii. I'm just sayin'.

*I keep waiting for the initial pitch of the show, that "Claire's baby is tied to the history of the island," to come into play. Is this why Charlie is so close to her? To keep an eye on Aaron?

*And finally, thanks to our friend Lala2460 for posting this recap of Dickens' “Our Mutual Friend” in a thread below. This is the book Desmond was carrying around and it has a pretty FITTING title, does it not? Well, turns out the storyline also ties into that Bad Twin manuscript Hurley found on the beach (which they're selling as a real book). Lala wrote: "'Our Mutual Friend' is about a rich young man named John Harmon, who while on a sea voyage to meet his future wife that his dad chose for him, meets another man who looks exactly like him (a twin!). They decide to swap identities, so that John Harmon can spy on his future wife to find out if she is worthy/see if he wants to marry her. However, after they switch clothes/identities, the lookalike guy betrays John Harmon (a BAD TWIN!!!), and tries to kill him. Unfortunately, the lookalike guy is himself betrayed by another man, who kills this bad twin in front of the real John, and then dumps the two of them in the sea. The real John survives, but the bad twin guy's body also washes ashore, and since the bad twin has John's I.D. papers on his person, the police and lawyers assume he is John Harmon, and thus declare that John Harmon is dead. Tramautized and "Lost", the real John decides he has nothing else to lose but to take on another false name, and go spy on the girl who would have been his future bride - testing her character, etc. The bulk of the novel is that.” Thanks, Lala!

Kristin of E!I'm DYING!!!I just rewatched the finale and I could SWEAR that at the end of the episode, one of the Brazilians in the frozen hatch speaking Portugese is:JACK!!!!!!!!!The guy with the glasses and cap is so Matthew Fox! If you add on a fake nose and a hat and a beard, I swear it's him.Does this play into the Bad Twin theory listed in my previous posting and Desmond's 'Our Mutual Friend' book?Is this why the Others need disguises? They're all twins of someone else?Is this why Shannon's dad looked like Terry O'Quinn?I actually remember a source saying that when they were shooting the finale LAST year, there were two "CREEPY TWIN BROTHERS" on the Others' boat (when they took Walt). Not sure if we actually saw them in the episode, but they WERE THERE ....Holy crap!Could this twin thing be real?I call dibs on Twin Sawyer!!P.S. My real-life Brazilian boyfriend mentioned after the episode that the dialect in the Hatchcicle (the frozen hatch - I hereby christen it 'Hatchcicle') was definitely Brazilian Portugese, "but it sounds like American-born actors trying to speak it." Makes sense since it's Foxy, eh?Another interesting tidbit: I'm pretty sure that Los Angeles' (where Jack is from) mirror image south of the border at the same lattitude (am I making sense?meaning, if you folded the globe in half ...) is somewhere around Rio or Sao Paolo, Brazil.

Ratings: Idol vs. Lost

Let's start out by observing this about Wednesday night's ratings: Only American Idol and Lost drew double digits, in millions of viewers. Now on to the hourly showdowns. Idol's season-ender, despite the discomfiting appearance of that Clay Aiken wannabe, was watched by 30.2 million during its first hour, then a whopping 40.6 mil during its back half, for an average of 35.3 mil across its full span — nearly five million more peeps than tuned in for Season 4's wrap-up. Lost, going head-to-head with Idol at 9 pm, found an audience of 16.3 million, then surged to 18.9 mil during its second hour. Long-story-short: Idol astounded, Lost impressed, and some giant statue is missing a four-toed foot.

I had forgotten about that. How Planet of the Apes what that?? :D

Did anyone notice the commercial for the Hanso Foundation / Jobs during Lost? I went to the site to see if there was anything there. It looks like each job listing has a few letters typed in gray; am thinking they might be a cryptogram or something? Will have to check when I have more time to play!http://www.hansocareers.com/

Just tried doing a search, has full job listings: Sample:Anger Management DirectorThe successful applicant will work with the Hanso Foundation's Public Relations department to rapidly and efficiently manage unforeseen human complications of the Foundation's work. Experience in human rights and environmental litigation is essential, as is a persuasive, open demeanor - previous experience in psychology and mediation are preferred. This is a highly rewarding but also high-stress position often dealing with rapid response and mission-critical variables - the successful applicant will report to officers in the Hanso Foundation's legal and Public Relations departments. Fluency in Korean and all regional dialects as well as comfort with sea-based travel will be required. Also, here is the company bio they have:

Wow, the TWOP spoiler was suprisingly accurate up until the end. In a way, I like the third act of the spoiler better than the show last night :DThe show just didn't knock my socks off. Just me, I'm getting tired of this whole button thing and now electromagnetism..eek.I really like the Desmond character's looks :P and accent and now he is gone Kaput again :angry:Yet now we must suffer through what looks like a the beginnings of an Evil hobbit. The nerve of Michael and Walt to leave poor Vincent behind :D(Note to Cy..I heard Michael say Waltttt but also "my boy" "my son" at least a couple of times last night :D)Let's see how season 3 goes

Finally finished the episode and I'm with MMM - I wasn't blown away by it. To be honest, I found the first hour a bit boring.I can only hope that Michael is gone forever and that the actor gets another series so I won't have to hear about him or "his boy" again.I never liked the hobbit and now he's an evil hobbit? Annoying.I did like the hatch blowing up. I liked that Desmond's girlfriend is still looking for him. And I'm not sure Desmond is dead. I don't think Locke or Ecko are either.Jin, Sun, and Sayid were sadly underused yet again. Maybe next season with Jack, Sawyer and Kate (the alpha members of the group) with the Others, we'll get to see more of the group.I'll still be tuning in next year!

Hoping someone can explain .... I've asked everyone at work about Charlie becoming evil. Did I miss something? I already erased from Tivo :( I went to Lostpedia site and couldn't find anything on Charlie either.

Ginger,It was at the end when Claire asked Charlie what happened at the hatch. He said Nothing...Nothing about that Eko tried to blow the place up...Eko/Locke and Desmond may be gonners..Nothing. I think that is where everyone is coming from with the "Evil" Charlie.

I think the "Charlie is evil" thing is also coming from the fact that Chalie saw a distraught Locke (in the first hour) and basically wound him up by telling him about Desmond.

Question for you guys .We know that there is still life in the world outside the island due to Desmond's girlfriend.Desmond came back and said that there was Nothing out there. Why didn't the Losties start panicking?? Even if they just take it as the ramblings of a drunk man...He was gone for 2 weeks on a good boat. Yet he ends up back on the island. I'd be freaking out thinking ..I'm stuck on this island Forever. I just thought it was strange no one really seemed to be concerned. Just curious if you guys have any thoughts.

Josie & the City

The third season of LOST is starting this fall; it should be a happy time for the cast and crew as the show has experienced so much success, instead everyone is nervous about the escalading feud between Matthew Fox and Josh Holloway. The two stars who play Jack and Sawyer don’t even talk off-camera anymore. During the first season they were best pals, they got along great! Then before the second season they both had their salary bumped from $30,000.00 to $80,000.00 per episode and they continued to chum around, however when word got out that Matthew received a $250,000.00 signing bonus for the second season Josh got angry! Now Josh is jealous of Matt’s big bonus and Matt is jealous of Josh’s popularity with the ladies! The rest of the cast wants to have an intervention as they’re nervous that a fight is going to break out between them on set!

A Lost star has found his way to the big screen. Harold Perrineau gets ready for three upcoming films. In Fox Atomic's 28 Weeks Later, a sequel to the zombified 28 Days Later, he pairs up with Jeremy Renner to battle the undead. Perrineau is also set to star in Your Name Here, about the last days in the life of sci-fi author Philip K. Dick (Bill Pullman), and then he costars with John Malkovich and Jeremy Sisto in the indie prostitution drama Gardens of the Night.
