Jessica Simpson: I Can Still Trust People

 

Despite John Mayer's recent kiss-and-tell revelations about their sex life, Jessica Simpson says she remains, deep down, a trusting person.

 

"I'm not as guarded as you would think. I should probably be more guarded. I trust a lot of people, actually," the actress and singer, 29, told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show Tuesday morning.

 

Not that she's over feeling disappointed in Mayer, who later apologized. "That's truly how I felt and still feel," she said. "Somebody that you have cared about for a long time, you just hope they can keep the intimate things intimate."

 

On a lighter note, Simpson – whose new VH1 show, The Price of Beauty, premieres March 15 – introduced her new single, "Who We Are," and spoke warmly of Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan, who worked on it with her. There has been speculation that the two are in a budding romantic relationship, though Simpson recently said they were just friends.

 

"I can't find good enough words to speak about Billy," Simpson said. "He's a very, very dear friend. For him to give his time and his talents and share them with me, it was a great experience. And I hope we can do more music together."

 

"Who We Are" is the theme song for The Price of Beauty, in which Simpson travels the world looking at what is considered beautiful in various cultures. The show was inspired by her weight controversy last year, when, she said, "if I put on 10 pounds, it was the end of the world."

 

Looking back on those days, Simpson said then-boyfriend Tony Romo helped her through the worst of it.

 

"Tony was so great and so supportive and never ever made me feel like I wasn't sexy," she said. "I was embarrassed by what the world was saying, but I still had my friends and loved ones and family who appreciated me."

Despite heavy promotion, the ratings for Jessica Simpson's VH1 reality show The Price of Beauty were, well, pretty ugly.

 

Monday's premiere attracted just 1 million viewers, UsMagazine.com has confirmed. Around 487,000 people tuned in for the encore later in the night.

 

The show got beat by a rerun of NCIS, a TruTV series called Operation Repo and History Channel's Pawn Stars, The Los Angeles Times notes.

 

Even former American Idol Fantasia Barrino had a stronger debut for her VH1 reality show, Fantasia For Real. (Her show premiere nabbed 2.3 million viewers.)

 

Reviews for The Price of Beauty -- which featured Simpson, 29, and her pals traveling around the world to learn how other cultures define beauty -- were mixed.

 

The New York Post called it "dopey and clueless," while the San Diego Union Tribune said it was "sweet on the outside and a little empty on the inside."

Jessica Simpson has ruled out any possibility of a reunion with ex-boyfriend John Mayer after he revealed all about their sex life in a candid Playboy magazine interview.

 

The singer/actress was left stunned and "very disappointed" after Mayer compared Simpson to "sexual napalm" and admitted he would happily pay to sleep with the busty blonde.

 

Mayer revealed his ex was "crazy" in bed and admitted Simpson was like a drug, adding, "That girl is like crack cocaine to me."

 

Simpson has refused to accept his personal apology but recently confessed the rocker will always have a place in her heart.

 

In an appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman," Simpson said, "Normally you'd think someone you care about would keep those details to himself. It was definitely a compliment, in a way. Jessica Simpson Targeted By PETA

 

Jessica Simpson has been targeted by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for wearing snakeskin.

 

The singer-and-actress - who was recently photographed wearing a bag, jacket and shoes all made from animal skin - has been sent a video by the animal rights group urging her to change her ways and stop wearing outfits made from lizards, alligators and snakes.

 

In the video, actor Joaquin Phoenix says: "Did you know that mother snakes keep their eggs warm by wrapping their bodies around the eggs and then shivering to generate heat? Exotic animals are mostly unknown to us, and so is what they suffer before being turned into belts and bags?"

 

The campaign clip has also been sent to stars including Catherine Zeta-Jones, Victoria Beckham, Sarah Jessica Parker and Paris Hilton.

 

This is not the first time PETA has attacked Jessica for her treatment of animals.

 

The American star recently said she was thinking of getting a pet pig to replace her dog Daisy, who was snatched by a coyote last year, and questioned whether she would have to give up eating pork.

 

In response, PETA said: "Pigs, who are smarter than dogs and every bit as sensitive to pain and stress, don't belong in Jessica's stomach or carted around as her latest accessory."

Smashing Pumpkins singer Billy Corgan is dating an Australian singer nearly half his age.

 

The US rocker, 43, whose ex-girlfriends include Courtney Love and Jessica Simpson, is dating Jessica Origliasso, 25, one half of Australian band The Veronicas.

 

The pair stepped out in Sydney on Sunday night along with Jess’s twin Lisa, the other half of their band.
