Eddie "Scared" He's Not the Daddy?

Posted Dec 4th 2006 2:53PM by TMZ Staff

Eddie Murphy revealed that he's split with former Spice Girl Melanie B., and he's questioning the paternity of her unborn child.

Murphy was asked on a Dutch TV show this weekend if he was happy with the pregnant Melanie, to which he responded, "You're being presumptuous, because we're not together anymore. And I don't know whose child that is, until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn't jump to conclusions, sir." Okay then!

The couple started dating in June, just two months after the "Daddy Day Care" star's divorce became final. Murphy already has six children, while Melanie, aka Scary Spice, has a daughter from a previous relationship. Now who's your daddy?

Murphy's rep was not immediately available for comment.

Interesting and how CONVENIENT this is happening right before Dreamgirls is set to be released--a film that has HEAVY Oscar buzz surrounding it--particularly Eddie's performance in it.

Is he still into trannies?

She's very pretty--and elegant-- a definite improvement over Melanie Brown. BUT I do hate when men drop their pregnant girlfriends and wives--unless Melanie is pregnant with someone else's child and Eddie found out about it (hence the breakup).

'Dreamgirls' Gets Standing Ovations, Cheers

Tuesday, December 05, 2006

By Roger Friedman

"Dreamgirls" premiered last night at the Ziegfeld in New York — and Jennifer Hudson got a standing ovation in the middle of the movie when she finished singing "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going."

When the film was over, there was another standing O, and the entire audience stood still and watched the main end credits.

Co-star Beyonce was long gone by then. She worked the red carpet, did her publicity and then split with boyfriend Jay-Z. She told me she'd rented a private plane and was ferrying him off for a birthday surprise. Insiders were split on whether they went as far as St. Bart's or only Atlantic City.

But Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy, Hudson, writer-director Bill Condon and a huge number of Paramount-Viacom officials (starting with Brad Grey) were all in attendance. So were Queen Latifah and a lot of other guests who were bowled over by the film.

Yours truly was also pleasantly surprised, since "Dreamgirls" had been slightly edited and reworked since my initial review on Nov. 15. It's even better now, if that's possible.

After the movie, the crowd headed to Gotham Hall on Broadway, but Foxx and Latifah took a group farther downtown to Gin Lane on 14th Street to keep the celebration going past 1 a.m.

Jamie was in fine form and Queen La had praise for the whole cast, but if anything else happened, we'll have to read about it in the tabloids. Some people have jobs!

At the Gotham, Murphy — sure to be nominated for all the awards in his role as soul singer James "Thunder" Early — told me something interesting.

"That's not my singing voice you hear," he said. "I'm acting. My real voice is like it was on 'Party All the Time' [his hit record from the 1980s]." "It's up here," he said as he gave me a few notes. "But in this, I had to [do] all kinds of singing. That's my character."

Murphy's Early is part James Brown, Wilson Pickett and Marvin Gaye all rolled into one. It turns out Eddie used to live on the same street as Pickett in Englewood Cliffs, N.J. They never really met. But Pickett was such a character that everyone knew him. Legend has it he had to leave town after running his car across the mayor's lawn.

"We knew he was there," Eddie said.

I asked Murphy if he'd ever seen an audience react to a movie like this before.

"Never at a premiere," he said, a little stunned.

He told me he's not going to get excited until (or if) he's nominated for something. So stay tuned, because January should be a wild month for the ex-"Beverly Hills Cop."

More tomorrow on Hudson, who still doesn't realize what's happening, and the rest of the "Dreamgirls" saga.

So he pulled a Lohan?!? Why do people think they can get away with a flat-out lie when the truth was caught on tape? Eddie is either having his rep lie for him or he just made the guy look like a real dumbass. But in the end I guess it doesn't matter because no one really believes what the reps say these days (unless their only source of gossip is People magazine)!

Eddie Murphy Questions Paternity of Mel B's Baby

TUESDAY DECEMBER 05, 2006 11:50AM EST

By Marla Lehner, People.com

Eddie Murphy is questioning whether he is the father of the unborn child that former girlfriend and ex-Spice Girl Melanie Brown is reportedly carrying.

Murphy, who stars in the upcoming Dreamgirls, was asked about his relationship with Brown – and her pregnancy – during an interview on the Dutch TV show RTL Boulevard that aired Monday.

"We're not together anymore," says Murphy, 45, in a clip on the show's Web site. (See the clip here.) "And I don't know whose child that is, until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn't jump to conclusions, sir."

Brown, 31, has not officially confirmed her pregnancy.

On Monday night Murphy stepped out with his new girlfriend, Tracey Edmonds, who is a movie producer and the ex-wife of singer Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, at the New York premiere of Dreamgirls

The couple have been together "for about a month and a half," Edmonds told PEOPLE at the event.

In August, however, Murphy and Brown took a weeklong family vacation to Hawaii with his five children and the singer's 7-year-old daughter. The couple had been spending a lot of time together since meeting at a party in June.

Murphy divorced his wife of 12 years, Nicole Mitchell, in April.

Eddie's Daddy Lie -- Caught on Tape!

Posted Dec 5th 2006 11:46AM by TMZ Staff

Just one day after Eddie Murphy's rep lied by denying the fact that his client made comments on a Dutch TV show questioning the paternity of former Spice Girl Melanie B.'s unborn child, TMZ has confirmed the existence of the tape and obtained the footage.

Posted Image

In the video, Eddie is asked if he is happy with pregnant Melanie, and you can clearly see and hear Murphy tell the interviewer,"You're being presumptuous, because we're not together anymore. And I don't know whose child that is, until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn't jump to conclusions, sir."

And neither should Eddie's reps before they start denying things that are true!

Posted Image

On Monday, Melanie and Murphy kept themselves on opposite sides of the country. Scary Spice was seen at LAX with her daughter, while Eddie arrived at the NYC premiere of "Dreamgirls" with Babyface's ex-wife, Tracey Edmonds. No word if Eddie's reps will deny this too.

Just read this... So funny

Eddie needs to keep in mind that she was called "Scary Spice" for a reason. Some night he's going to pull over to pick Mel up, thinking she's a tranny in trouble. And she's going to kill his ass.

Ex-Spice Girl says Murphy is father of her baby

Melanie Brown ‘upset and distressed’ by comedian's comments

Melanie Brown who was once known as Scary Spice, says in a statement released through her publicist that there is "no question" that Eddie Murphy is the father of her unborn child.

NEW YORK - Eddie Murphy has said that he’s not sure if he’s the father of ex-Spice Girl Melanie Brown’s unborn child. Brown, however, says she’s quite certain that he is.

“I am obviously upset and distressed at some of the comments made by Eddie Murphy to the media,” Brown, 31, said in a statement released Thursday by her publicist, Nadine Bibi.

“I have no idea why anybody would want to conduct themselves in this kind of manner about such a personal matter in such a public way. My main concern is for the well-being of my daughter, Phoenix, and of course the baby. I was astonished what Eddie said. There is absolutely no question that Eddie is the father.”

Bibi said Brown — known as Scary Spice when she was in the megahit group of the ’90s — wasn’t giving interviews “at this stage.”

Murphy, who stars in the upcoming “Dreamgirls” film, was recently asked by a TV interviewer if he was excited that Brown was pregnant.

“Now you’re being presumptuous because we’re not together anymore,” Murphy replied. “And I don’t know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn’t jump to conclusions, sir.”

A clip of the interview was posted earlier this week on the TMZ.com Web site.

Arnold Robinson, a spokesman for Murphy, said Thursday he doesn’t comment on the actor’s personal life.

Murphy, 45, escorted film producer Tracey Edmonds to the premiere of “Dreamgirls” in New York earlier this week. When asked by AP Television News if Edmonds is his “new lady,” he smiled and replied, “Yeah.”

People magazine, on its Web site, has quoted Edmonds, the ex-wife of singer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, as saying she’s been dating Murphy “for about a month and a half.”

Murphy’s wife, Nicole, filed for divorce last year, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple were married in 1993 and have five children together.

Well, what a challenge for Eddie!

I'm inclined to believe Eddie that he isn't the baby daddy, cause I really can't imagine him doing what he needed to in order to knock Scary Spice up. ;)

Photographs of Eddie Muphy's ex-girlfriend Melanie Brown frolicking in Hawaii with her so-called 'mystery man' have been published in British newspaper the "News Of The World."

The Hollywood star allegedly dumped former Spice Girl Brown after being handed another set of snaps last month, showing the singer reportedly enjoying an illicit date with the male friend in Los Angeles.

The images published in the newspaper today (17DEC06) - showing a scantily-clad Brown and her companion relaxing on the beach - were shot in May (06) - just weeks before Brown started dating Murphy and immediately becoming pregnant.

Murphy actor reportedly hired a team of private detectives to follow Brown after becoming convinced she was cheating on him, and he ended their relationship.

Brown and Murphy started dating in June (06), but the Hollywood star cut all ties with the former Spice Girl earlier this month (05DEC06) and he's now demanding a DNA test to determine whether he's the father of her unborn baby. An eyewitness of Brown's summer frolics tells the tabloid, "Mel and this fella were all over each other and quite obviously a couple. They couldn't keep their hands off each other."

A source close to Murphy adds, "Everyone thought it was suspicious that Mel fell pregnant so quickly after getting together with Eddie. Now he thinks the same. After seeing these photos he's convinced he's not the dad. "And he won't believe any different until DNA tests are carried out after the baby is born.

As far as Eddie's concerned this mystery man had as much chance of fathering the child as he did."

MEL B VERSUS EDDIE

Furious Scary signs up top lawyer in £15million battle over unborn child

Eva Simpson & Caroline Hedley

SCARY Spice, Mel B has hired a top Hollywood lawyer to fight comic Eddie Murphy in the courts.

The 31-year-old has called in legal veteran Don Engel to take on the funnyman, who has denied he is the father of her unborn child.

Engel, who charges $500 an hour, has represented heavyweight artists including Cher, Meatloaf and Fleetwood Mac.

He has an unrivalled reputation as one of Hollywood's biggest legal hitters and is renowned in the music biz.

Mel has vowed to get every penny she can from the 45-year-old actor who she began dating six months ago.

She was dumped after he claimed in an interview on Dutch TV that they were no longer an item.

And the Beverly Hills Cop star has even demanded a DNA test to prove whether he was the father or not.

A pal of the former Spice Girl said: "Mel is refusing to lie down and let Eddie walk all over her - and this is reflected in her choice of lawyer.

"She wants to hit him where it hurts... in the pocket and they don't come much better than Don."

Sources suggest that Mel may be able to get as much as £15million in lifelong payments for their unborn child.

Yorkshire-born Mel - real name Melanie Brown - interviewed a raft of Hollywood lawyers before she plumped for Don's services.

A law insider said: "Don's services don't come cheap but he is one of the best lawyers around.

"Most lawyers would relish taking on an A-list star and Don will surely be no exception."

Murphy, who is already dating film producer Tracey Edmonds, 39, will be no pushover though.

He has millions to throw at an equally heavyweight lawyer and will fight Mel B's claim all the way.

But a pal close to Mel said: "She is just as feisty and is determined to win.

"A reconciliation is probably out the question after he humiliated her in such a way on television.

"She has been devastated by what has happened - especially since they had talked about marriage.

"This is war - and if Eddie doesn't know it, he will very shortly."

You go, girl...

Eddie Murphy’s stepfather turned the family basement into a makeshift boxing ring so he could discipline his teenage kids.

The "Shrek," star credits Vernon Lynch with teaching him discipline - and the funnyman always accepted his fate when he was told to put the gloves on. He says, "My stepdad boxed so I grew up around the gym. "There might have been some disciplining with the gloves on... My father was like, 'You did what? Well, go in the house and put the gloves on.' "When you get too big the get a whipping - when you get 16, 17 and you can't get a regular whipping no more - you gotta go put the gloves on."

In Related News: "I'm scared of animals. In the two “Dr. Dolittle,” movies that I did there's one scene where I take a duck out of the water and that was the only time I really physically touched something.” Eddie Murphy admits he's not an animal lover like his Dr. Dolittle character.
