The agents confiscated the intimate diaries of the “Devil Wears Prada” star during another raid on Follieri’s $37,500-a-month Trump Tower pad,

Ahem, you break up with a guy and you leave your diaries?

Convenient much.

I was thinking they had watched The Princess Diaries too many times. Does anyone really keep "diaries" these days? Probably more like a daily planner with not much info in it.

I keep a travel journal, but that's not quite the same thing.....

I could see her leaving things behind in his apt--esp. if this was "last year's diary" or whatever. When he was arrested, they probably sealed off his apt immediately so no one could go in and destroy anyting incriminating. So Anne wouldn't have been able to remove anything without permission. And if she did set him up, could be a plant. Or just a simple oversight. I was subpoenaed a few years ago in a politician's fraud case and the FBI wanted the weirdest stuff from me--photos of my apartment, etc. Not being a lawyer, I have no idea how cases are constructed....

Except that she broke up with him before he was arrested. She was conveniently out of the country when he got popped.

I have a privacy objection to the seizing her diaries for the purposes of prosecuting him. If I were her, I would be jumping up and down

I I were him, I would be jumping and down at trial objecting to the introduction of her diaries as evidence against me. Its called hearsay. Just because she wrote it down, doesn't make it true.

Don't get me wrong, based on what little information has come out, the guy is a tool, but still. . . .

Maybe I'm overthinking this, but If I wanted to get as much pr buzz out of this as possible, I'd make up fake diaries to conveniently leave for police to find.

I mean, come on, how long does anyone think Anne Hathaway is going to be the It girl. About as long as it takes a match to burn out.

Anne Hathaway is an It girl? I think of her as a fortunate-to-be-working actress. I don't find her appealing at all.

True, but if it is more a dayplanner than a "dear diary" sort of thing, and they're trying to show who he was meeting with or trips out of the country or things like that--factual things, not "hearsay", that might be why they wanted the books.

Okay -- except that an appointment in her day planner is not an appointment he kept and just because you kept the meeting doesn't mean you can prove up what took place at the meeting.

(just playing devil's advocate here -- like I said he seems to be a tool.)

I know, I understand what you're saying Tyler. But couldn't a prosecuting lawyer ask him on the stand "in this dayplanner it says there was a meeting of you, Anne, mr x. and mrs. y. Were you at this meeting?" Using it as a stepping off point to question him, as directions to dig/investigate before the trial, too. If questioned under oath, and he lies (as confirmed by someone else at the meeting, for instance--that's not hearsay) his response would be perjury.....

And unless there's video/audio recording of a meeting (and even then....), you can't really "prove" what goes on--it's going to be his word against someone else's. But more evidence is better than less evidence, even if some of it is circumstantial. I'm certain we're blowing this diary thing out of proportion, too ;)

Just a warning that red jello WILL stain your skin and clothing. Which is why it's better naked, but then you still have to worry about your skin turning funny colors

Coupla thoughts.

This is the Internet era. She is famous; she lets her boyfriend take naked pix. Stupid. So I am wondering about her IQ level, or maybe she has gullibility issues. Something a H-wood actress really can't afford to have.

The other thought is that she has a lovely body and I would like to see these pix. I doubt it could really harm her career, post Paris Hilton and those who have followed her example. Sounds pretty tame after sex tapes and cheap crotch shots.

Fixing economy is Hathaway’s political passion

Actress says she fell hard for Obama after his speech on race

updated 2 hours, 45 minutes ago

DENVER - Celebrities are getting serious at the Democratic convention.

Sure, there are parties aplenty. But a contingent of Hollywood types under the Creative Coalition banner are gathering for sober-minded luncheons and forums to discuss issues facing the Democratic Party and the country.

At one such event, Danny Strong, an actor and screenwriter who is keeping a video diary of the DNC for The Associated Press, spoke with actress Anne Hathaway about what brought her to Denver.

AP: What issues are you most passionate about?

Hathaway: “That’s a good question, and it should be a simple one. But right now I feel like there’s so many aspects of our great nation which could use a little bit of help, or a lotta bit of help, that it’s hard to pick just one. I think the most important thing is the economy. We need to figure out the housing crisis. We need to build up our middle class again. Right now, the disparity between the uber-rich and the uber-poor, it’s worrying and it’s not getting better. We need to focus on a way to just get our economy back, to get it back on track.

“Obviously the war is a very important issue to me. We need to get our troops home, and we need to get them home now. My own personal feelings about it is when the world is kind of perfect, and we have those two things — when we’re at peace and everybody has a good job — although we should be working on these at the same time, I don’t mean to imply otherwise, I’m really a big advocate for health care and of course my heart lies with education.”

Hathaway: “I was kind of afraid of Obama the first time I saw him. I thought, I’ve been burned by guys like you before. I’ve been burned by politicians before that I wanted to believe in and just didn’t live up to it. And I was afraid to trust him and I was afraid to have hope when I first kind of became aware of him. It was around the time that he gave his speech on race that I just said ‘I can’t deny how I feel about you, Barack Obama. I want you to be the president. I want you in the White House.’

“I think that not only can Barack cause change — because that’s where his heart lies — as a true American success story, he understands how hard it is. And when he says that he will, when people come to him with problems, he’s been there. I just heard the other day, he just paid off his student loans two years ago. And so when people talk about financial issues and the higher cost of education, he really gets it. So not only do I think he has the power, the temperament and the tremendous character that can cause change in the government, I think he’s the sort of person that inspires us all to be our best selves.

“He inspires us to be the best Americans we can be. And I think if he’s president — when he’s president, I should say — we’re going to find people changing on the inside. And once we all have hope for the future, I think you’re going to find everyone’s going to wake up and take control of this amazing moment where there’s so many things that need help, and people will all be inspired to help.”

AP: Do you think that the entertainment industry has a positive or negative effect on politics?

Hathaway: “I think the entertainment industry has all good intentions when we try to come out. The thing that is unfortunate is that some of us who are maybe a little recognizable, we’ve got to come out as private citizens and support our country in any way that we can ... .

“There’s a media spin on it that we’re all out of touch. How could we possibly have an awareness of what real Americans feel and think and need because we just ride around in limos and — I don’t know — buy diamonds all day long? That’s kind of the perception. But I don’t know anyone like that. I’m certainly not like that. I’m a passionate American, and that’s what I am first and foremost.”
