We told you yesterday ... Lindsay was checking into a Southern California rehab facility. Well she's now there.

 

The plan is for Lindsay to stay at least until the next court hearing on October 22.

Lindsay Lohan spent her last night of freedom before rehab reading a self-help book — and only RadarOnline.com has the exclusive photos of the troubled starlet from inside her West Hollywood apartment.

 

Wearing a loose fitting black sleeveless dress with matching sunglasses, LiLo was snapped on her balcony at dusk reading The Power of Rest, written by Dr. Matthew Edlund.

 

It’s the latest statement from Lohan who is attempting to undergo an image makeover, before a critical October 22 court hearing that could end with her sent back to jail for 30 days for flunking a drug test.

 

The 24-year-old was booked into jail Friday, however, her lawyer filed an appeal, arguing Judge Elden Fox legally couldn't deny bail on a misdemeanor case.

 

Lohan was sprung on $300,000 bail and RadarOnline.com has confirmed she checked into rehab for a fifth stint in the meantime.

 

According to our source, Lohan is “tired of being the party girl” and turned to the self-help book for guidance to deal with a “terrible” and disrupted sleeping pattern.

 

“Lindsay hopes to use this book to help restructure her sleeping patterns so she can function better,” said the insider.

 

“She has been shooting films into the wee hours of the morning since she was 11 or 12 years old and then sleeping in trailers while on the set.

 

“She never established a normal sleeping pattern.

 

“She was recommended the book by both a doctor and a friend and hopes it will guide her in the right direction.”

I don't know that she'll ever be able to be considered a "serious actress" again. Getting in bed with the paps as much as she does..... I would think it would be hard to get rid of that stigma.

Perez' callout for the IRS to audit Hohan kind of makes me laugh, but boy is that mean. You KNOW she doesn't report that income she gets from selling pap opportunities, and she could go to jail for a long time for that.

Lindsay Lohan's Brother: My Sister Was 'Surrounded by Leeches'

Michael Lohan Jr. isn't making excuses for his troubled sibling, Lindsay Lohan, but offers his unconditional love and understanding.

 

"I think that in the past, her vision had been blurred," Michael, 22, tells PEOPLE in an exclusive statement of his sister, who voluntarily entered a rehab facility this week.

 

While admitting that his sister has made bad choices, Michael also says Lindsay's recovery has been hampered by her social circle.

 

"People she was surrounded by – enablers, leeches, whatever you'd like to call it – made things very difficult," he says. "It's quite strenuous to right your wrongs when the people around you help justify your actions. Therefore, cloudy judgment made it easy for her to neglect those trying to guide her."

 

Earlier this month, Lindsay, 24, Tweeted that she's "working hard to overcome" substance abuse problems, which are tough to overcome.

She Won't Get Better Overnight

Concurring, her brother adds, "People with addictive tendencies do not get better overnight, so that cannot be expected. However, her commitment to her current recovery is a side effect of the realization of her past mishaps."

 

Lindsay, who failed a drug test earlier this month and spent 14 hours in jail before posting bail, is "well-aware that she's at a crossroad in life, and is fully committed to ensuring a healthier future," says her brother.

 

"She has made conscious efforts to improve her lifestyle behaviors and to treat this process with great care. In order to continue her healing process, she's willing to take whatever steps necessary," Michael adds. "We – her mother, brothers, and sister – have been there for Lindsay every step of the way – despite what trashy news reports – and will continue to give her our support and strength during these arduous times."

 

Last spring, Michael Lohan graduated from Ithaca College, where he studied business administration and played lacrosse. He remains close to sisters Lindsay and Ali, 16, and younger brother, Cody, 14.

EXCLUSIVE: It's Confirmed -- Lindsay Lohan In Rehab In Orange County

Lindsay Lohan is back in rehab, and the facility she’s chosen to go to is in Orange County, RadarOnline.com has confirmed exclusively.

 

This is a rehab Lindsay knows well, but then, it’s also the starlet’s fifth stint at getting sober.

 

A source confirmed to RadarOnline.com, “She is with us for the time being. We expect her to stay for the full 90 days, however she could bounce because there is no court order ensuring that she has to stay.” (nice source talking about their clients and using the word "bounce" )

 

After serving 14 days in July at Lynwood Correctional Facility for violating her probation terms in a DUI charge, Lohan was ordered to spend 90 days at Morningside Recovery in Newport Beach, California. The facility underwent special renovations to accommodate the Freaky Friday actress including gutting an apartment-style house complete with new wood floors and a private bathroom.

 

Her treatment was ultimately re-routed to the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, where she spent 23 days -- 67 short of the 90 days she was ordered to spend in rehab by a Los Angeles judge.

 

The insider tells RadarOnline.com that the facility is hopeful that Lindsay will get the treatment she desperately needs.

 

“Hopefully we will be able to make a difference,” the source told RadarOnline.com. “If she makes it through the first couple weeks, she should be ok.” (um... again, that is NOT what employees at rehab facilities say.....)

 

On Tuesday, RadarOnline.com confirmed that the Mean Girls star had checked herself into rehab to seek treatment until her October 22 probation hearing.

 

The actress was taken into custody last Friday for failing a court ordered drug test. However Lindsay’s attorney won an appeal and the starlet was released just hours after being taken back to Lynwood Correctional Facility.

Michael Lohan Makes Move for Conservatorship

Michael Lohan will ask a judge to establish a conservatorship for Lindsay Lohan ... TMZ has learned.

 

Michael met with attorney David Chon (left) today and will hire him to file conservatorship papers ... Chon specializes in trusts and estates.

 

We're told Michael has enough sense to know the judge isn't going to make him the conservator, so he has two other people in mind ... though he's not saying who.

 

Michael is saying, he doesn't want Dina Lohan or Lindsay's business manager, Lou Taylor, to handle Lindsay's affairs because "they're in it for themselves."

 

Our sources say Michael plans on filing a petition for conservatorship "within days."

Lindsay Lohan was caught trying to escape the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California, earlier this week, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.

 

But all Lohan, 24, desperately wanted to score was a coke fix -- of the cola variety!

 

In a tale so bizarre it is almost unbelievable, RadarOnline.com has confirmed the Hollywood wild child attempted to flee the Betty Ford grounds to sneak into the nearby Eisenhower Medical Center, in a bid to buy a soda from a vending machine.

 

Lohan's rouse was almost pulled off if it wasn't for her accomplice, another patient, whose clothing got caught on the fence.

 

"Lindsay and her co-conspirator were forced to give it up and flag down a volunteer, who was crossing the center's grounds on a golf cart," a source, with knowlegde of the situation, told RadarOnline.com.

 

"The pair was safely returned, decaffeinated, to their hall, were they were the center of a process meeting over what they had done."

 

There is no soda dispenser at the clinic where luxuries, such as caffeine and television, are strictly prohibited.

 

As RadarOnline.com first revealed, Lohan is being treated for a far more serious coke addiction.

 

The troubled star, who has been to rehab five times and was jailed three times for cocaine related incidents, had previously played down the extent of her drug abuse.

 

But when Lohan registered a dirty result for cocaine after a court-mandated test while on probation, last month, the actress declared, "Substance abuse is a disease which doesn't go away overnight."

Shawn Chapman Holley tells TMZ, she spoke with Lindsay's counselors yesterday and there was absolutely no mention made of any attempt by Lindsay to cross the line.

 

Holley adds, "The counselor gave Lindsay an unqualified glowing report on her progress."

Lindsay -- Going to Court, Begging for Rehab

Lindsay Lohan will obey the judge's order -- no small feat -- to be in court this Friday ... and TMZ has learned Sheriff's deputies are ready to take Lindsay back to jail, if necessary.

 

Law enforcement sources tell us LiLo will indeed leave the Betty Ford Center -- where she's been in treatment since September 27 -- to attend her probation violation hearing for a failed drug test. Judge Elden Fox had ordered Lindsay to be in court, but we know how that's gone in the past.

 

A source says Lindsay's legal team won't dispute the violation of probation ... but they're hopeful Judge Fox will send Lindsay back to rehab and not to jail because any interruption would severely disrupt her treatment, and she "has come a long way" during her time at Betty Ford. We're told Lindsay is ready and willing to stay in rehab for as long as Judge Fox wishes.

 

Just in case though -- the L.A. County Sheriff's Department has a plan in place to take her to jail. We're told deputies, both undercover and in uniform, will be in the courthouse with a vehicle warmed up and ready to take Linds to Lynwood Correctional Facility ... where she could be sentenced to a minimum of 30 days.
