Star Jones

Blondie, I"d PAY for that dream. It's a great one. What do you bet Star releases a statement saying that she decided to leave The View because she was on to bigger and better things...so to speak. (She can always go back to being a lawyer...maybe a public defender or something.) :D

Star gazing may soon end for 'View'-ers Star Jones Reynolds could announce her departure from 'The View' soon, say sources, meaning that she wouldn't get to trade barbs on the show with Rosie O'Donnell. Is Friday D-Day for Star Jones Reynolds?I hear that the longtime panelist on ABC's daytime chatfest, "The View," has signed a lucrative deal with another television outlet and plans to announce her departure live on the air at the end of this month.Yesterday, Jones Reynolds' PR rep declined to comment, and a spokesman for "The View," where she's been a regular since the show's August 1997 launch, didn't respond to several detailed messages.Ever since the show's alpha female, Barbara Walters, recruited Jones Reynolds antagonist Rosie O'Donnell to replace Meredith Vieira, insiders have speculated that the 44-year-old Jones Reynolds is on the way out.On her blog and in interviews, O'Donnell has mercilessly mocked Jones Reynolds' claims that she lost more than 100 pounds through diet and exercise."Here's what annoys me about Star Jones," O'Donnell told New York mag in April, before she was picked for the show. "As a former fatty, she has an obligation to her tribe. And to write a book about how to be the perfect woman that she now is, and to leave out gastric bypass and the supposed gender-identity issues of your husband, it's just like selling bulls — to the point that it's sickening."In recent weeks, Jones Reynolds — who's married to former money man Al Reynolds — has reportedly taken meetings with execs at CBS, Court TV and E! Entertainment, in addition to filling in for Larry King as a substitute host in April. Her contract is up in September.A knowledgeable source said: "Star has been floating around the studio, and she's on cloud nine now that she's leaving. She's been acting as though she doesn't have a care in the world. That's why she was so pleasant, even when Sandra Bernhard was trying to bait her for a confrontation on the show. She's known for weeks she was leaving, and now that her deal is apparently done, she just doesn't care what goes on with the show."

Don't worry. All she has to do is open up her mouth and she will be fired.

 I can't imagine watching this show with Rosie and Joy trying to out do each other. I bet they get rid of Joy. Rosie will probably get rid of everyone and have another talk show to herself. If they do have other co-hosts, you can bet they will be nobodies and young. No one with any intelligence with put up with Rosie.

The word on the street...Is Rosie has to tone down her gay rights discussion. I think Rosie is opinionated regardless, but I think the powers in charge are going to try to keep a little nuzzle on her.

Well, she somehow managed to stay on The View for 9 years, so I suppose anything is possible....

Star Jones Gone: Freebies Did Her InIt's official, folks. Star Jones is leaving ABC's "The View." Her last day is still being determined, but sources say by next Friday, July 6 or July 13, the ladies will be kissing and hugging her and wheeling out a fat-free cake. She does not — repeat — does not have any other gig lined up, contrary to other reports this morning. "Her contract is up and she's gone," says a source. "They are working out right now how they will explain it to the public."I am told that producers for the show had planned to axe Star last fall after the hoopla around her endorsement-plagued wedding. But chief anchor and co-owner Barbara Walters relented. "She felt sorry for her," says an insider. In the end, though, Walters knew that when Rosie O'Donnell agreed to join the show, Jones was finished. As for replacements: even though Gayle King wants the job (and would be good, I think) several guest journalists will fill in the extra chair for the last two weeks of July. The show goes "dark" until Labor Day with reruns, and there may be no permanent replacement named while O'Donnell settles in. "They're looking for someone younger than Gayle or even Deborah Roberts," says a source. But the goal will be to find a hot, young African-American journalist whose background is clean as a whistle. Talent agents, start your engines!

Star Jones Reynolds: 'I Was Fired'

TUESDAY JUNE 27, 2006 11:15AM EST

TUESDAY JUNE 27, 2006 11:55PM EST UPDATED

people.com

Star Jones Reynolds announced Tuesday morning on The View that she'll be leaving the show in July after nine years as a cohost.

"Something's been on my heart for a little bit, and after much prayer and counsel I feel like this is the right time to tell you that the show is moving in another direction for its tenth season and I will not be returning as cohost next year," she said on the air.

"That's shocking to me," interrupted Joy Behar, prompting Jones Reynolds to link hands with her cohosts.

As for where she'll go next Jones Reynolds said, "I'm not sure what the future holds, but I'm absolutely sure who holds the future."

The show's creator, Barbara Walters, wrapped up the discussion by saying, "It is a new chapter for Star. It will be a new chapter for The View in the fall."

So why is Jones Reynolds leaving? Contrary to speculation that she's unhappy about the upcoming addition of Rosie O'Donnell – one of her most vocal critics – to the show this fall, she reveals exclusively in this week's PEOPLE magazine that the departure was not her choice.

"What you don't know is that my contract was not renewed for the tenth season," she tells PEOPLE. "I feel like I was fired." She adds that she was told her contract wouldn't be renewed just days before news leaked that O'Donnell would be joining The View.

Jones Reynolds, 44, was part of the original lineup with Meredith Vieira (who has already departed to replace Katie Couric on the Today show), Behar and Walters.

For more details of Jones Reynolds's firing and her feelings about Rosie O'Donnell's 'hurtful' comments, pick up this week's PEOPLE, on newsstands Friday.

wheeling out a fat-free cake.

I hope it gives her anal leakage!

I really would have been shocked if she did after the E! fiasco (yet E! proves they've learned nothing by hiring Seacrest -_- )

The View to Star: Don't Come BackTUESDAY JUNE 27, 2006 11:15AM ESTTUESDAY JUNE 27, 2006 10:50PM EST UPDATEDStar Jones Reynolds After the View cohost Star Jones Reynolds announced on the air Tuesday that she would leave the show in July, her network had a response: Leave now. According to a source close to Jones Reynolds, "ABC has asked her not to return to the View tomorrow morning." ABC could not be reached by press time, but a source close to the show confirmed that Star had been asked not to return. Jones Reynolds, who helped launch the chatfest and spent nine years at the View table alongside Barbara Walters, Joy Behar and the newly departed Meredith Vieira, who left to replace Katie Couric on NBC's Today, says the split was anything but amicable. "What you don't know is that my contract was not renewed for the tenth season," she tells PEOPLE exclusively. "I feel like I was fired." She adds that she got the news just days before reports surfaced that Rosie O'Donnell – one of her most vocal critics – would be joining the View in the fall. OMG, this is great. Barbara Walters just announced on The View that Star is not coming back to the view except for pre-recorded segments. She said that they'd been trying to work out a way for Star to leave "with dignity" but Star "chose otherwise." She said The View had made Star a Star, too. Not only is Star gone, but she was just publicly trashed by *Barbara Walters* on national TV!

Thanks for the rundown. I missed the first 30 minutes and was wondering what the kitties would do..meoooww. I did notice the big Rosie promo commercial for September..eekI'm still a bit confused. What was so shocking? Everyone knew Star was out..why was Joy "shocked" and BW shocked? Was it just because Star took away some of the thunder and decided to leave on Her terms and not with a 'scripted" goodbye on Thursday...so BW would not be in control of her departure? I think the whole thing is amusing :D

Walters "Betrayed" by Jones Reynolds TV veteran Barbara Walters feels "betrayed" by her The View co-host Star Jones Reynolds following her shock on-air announcement of her departure from the talk show. Walters, 74, was stunned when Jones Reynolds, 44, told viewers and her fellow presenters she would be leaving the ABC program after nine years yesterday morning, because the announcement was planned for Thursday. Speaking to camera, Jones Reynolds said, "Something's been on my heart for a little bit, and after much prayer and counsel I feel like this is the right time to tell you that the show is moving in another direction for its tenth season and I will not be returning as co-host next year." And in this week's issue of People magazine, Jones Reynolds says, "What you don't know is that my contract was not renewed for the tenth season. I feel like I was fired." Walters, who created and produces the show, says, "I love Star and I was trying to do everything I possibly could - up until this morning when I was betrayed - to protect her. I would have loved for Star to have left and not said 'I was fired, ' and not make it look like the program was somehow being cruel to her." Walters admits ABC network bosses declined to renew Jones Reynolds' contract after research showed audiences were turned off by the former lawyer's dramatic weight loss and her 2004 marriage to Al Reynolds, where she plugged companies on air in exchange for freebies for her wedding. Walters adds, "We tried to talk them out of it and we tried to give Star time to redeem herself in the eyes of the audience, and the research just kept getting worse."

'VIEW' TURNS VICIOUS: WE MADE YOU A STAR!

Wed Jun 28 2006 11:20:10 ET

The wigs and faces have come off on morning television -- and the nails are out!

It isn't pretty.

Barbara Walters coldly ripped into outgoing VIEW talker Star Jones this morning on ABC-TV.

Walters announced that Star would no longer be permitted to appear on the show -- effective immediately -- after Star strayed from script during an exit that's turned ugly.

Transcipt:

WALTERS: "And then there were three. This is, truthfully, a very difficult day for us, and it is a sad day for us. If you were watching the program yesterday, you would have heard Star announce that she's leaving THE VIEW and will not be on the program next fall.

"We didn't expect her to make this statement yesterday. She gave us no warning. And we were taken by surprise. But the truth is that Star has known for months that ABC did not want to renew her contract and that she would not be asked back in the fall.

"The network made this decision based on a variety of reasons which I won't go into now. But we were never going to say this. We wanted to protect star. And so we told her that she could say whatever she wanted about why she was leaving and that we would back her up.

"We worked closely with her representatives and we gave her time to look for another job. We hope she would announce it on the program and leave with dignity.

"But Star made another choice.

"And since her announcement yesterday, she has made further announcements that have surprised us.

"So it is becoming uncomfortable for us to pretend that everything is the same at this table.

"And, therefore, regrettably Star will no longer be on this program, except for some shows that have been prerecorded.

"THE VIEW helped make Star a Star and Star helped make THE VIEW the success that it is.

"We will never forget that. We wish her well in this new chapter of her life as we begin a new chapter on THE VIEW."

"Barbara didn't have my back"

Star Jones fired back on Ryan Seacrest's morning radio show in Los Angeles, PerezHilton.com reports.

Star told KIIS FM: "I'm not trying to be emotional about this. I understand it was a business decision. I understood it was a business decision when I was told then. But then in that same week, I was told they were adding a new co-host and it was Rosie O'Donnell. And that was the same week that she had been so nasty and vicious towards me. Rosie insulted me. She tried to damage me professionally and personally...

"It's a little shocking to me that Barbara feels betrayed. I was really surprised that Barbara feels betrayed. If you watched me yesterday, I said that she was the most amazing mentor and I thanked her for the most amazing opportunity. My departure was orchestrated some time ago. And while I can accept any business decision, it's hard to accept the manner in which it was handled during the last two months. But, if you use words like betrayal, if anyone should be betrayed, it should be me! Barbara didn't have my back...

"It didn't sound right for me when they were saying your ratings have gone down. I said, well wait a minute, I've seen the ratings. The top five shows in the year you're talking about were about me and planning the wedding. It didn't sound right. "

Developing...

WOAH...I NEED A CIGARETTE! ;)

Oh man! I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm sorry I didn't see the View today (as it's a show I was NEVER interested in!)

The top five shows in the year you're talking about were about me and planning the wedding.

Seriously? Seriously? I wonder what else those shows were about. Does Star really have no clue that her wedding was a JOKE? :o If only Aaron Spelling were still with us! I'd love to see him use this as inspiration for a nighttime soap about 5 female talk-show co-hosts (replete with on-air catfights!) :D

This woman is a pig and a phony. Money doesn't buy class, that's for sure. She is so delusional it's unreal. Good riddance, Star. Keep spending all your money on Big Gay Al while the rest of the world laughs at you. See ya! B)

Unfortunately, I think she'll find SOMETHING to do. How lucrative it will be I don't know. Hopefully her reputation will precede her and anyone who's thinking of taking her on will think twice.
