In a statement issued by her London representative it is stated: "Naomi Campbell was admitted to hospital [Monday night] to have a small cyst removed. Following the successful procedure, she is now resting and is looking forward to getting back to work. She would like to thank he doctors who have kindly looked after her." The British supermodel, 37, who often visits the South American country, marked Carnival this month in the northeastern city of Salvador, reports Britain's Guardian newspaper, which also says she is in the Sirio Libanes hospital. I have read enough about how much Brazilians love plastic surgery to be asking what the hell kind of crazy new plastic surgery have they invented that you can only get there. Because this story reeks! Either the reporting is very bad and she was already in Brazil, or that crazy lasy is trying something totally new. Maybe a personality implant? You're totally right - this story reeks. She was in Brasil for Carnival, but she may have done that just to set up the cover for her surgery. Her attending physician is the head of gynecology for the hospital. You don't suppose she's having her va-jay-jay done over? People do actually do that. The most obvious answer is usually the right one. I vote for lipo. They may well have developed something new in Brasil. That's the kind of medical emergency I imagine supermodels experience in Brazil. OK, honestly, she was there to have a small cyst removed. I hope they were careful because depending on where that cyst was located, it might have actually been her heart, which I hear is two sizes too small. And here she is at what looks like the Elle Style awards, rocking what I'm going to assume is fake fur, given her past participation in anti-fur campaigns. Also, I don't feel like the woman ages at all. "The patient has recovered well from her surgery," the Hospital Sirio-Libanes said in a statement. Dr. Jose Aristodemo Pinotti, the Brazilian surgeon who attended to Campbell, was quoted by Globo news as saying he had given her permission to leave but recommended she stay in Brazil resting before resuming work. The hospital said Campbell, 37, was admitted on Sunday although her spokesman in Los Angeles said earlier she went in on Monday. The spokesman said she had a cyst removed. Pinotti told Folha de S.Paulo newspaper on Friday that the model did not have a cyst but declined to specify what she was treated for. "When a patient asks for discretion, be it Naomi or just plain Maria, I respect their wishes," he told the newspaper. Campbell often visits Brazil, where she has been known to show up at Carnival festivities and is frequently photographed at parties with Brazilian celebrities. Campbell, 37, left the airport police station just after midnight. London's Metropolitan Police said she was released pending further inquiries and told to report to a police station in late May. The London-born supermodel was arrested late Thursday on suspicion of assaulting an officer after police were called to a disturbance at the airport. Since Terminal 5 opened last week, more than 28,000 bags have been separated from their owners. Witnesses said Campbell was aboard a British Airways plane due to depart for Los Angeles when she became involved in a dispute because one of her bags had been lost. During the dispute, Campbell allegedly spit on the officer. Campbell's spokeswoman, Annabel Fox, said Campbell was traveling to the U.S. to attend a memorial service and had boarded the plane when she was told one of her two checked bags was missing. British Airways "decided to resolve this by insisting she leave the flight and then called the police to forcibly eject her," Fox said. Campbell has a history of assaulting assistants and employees. In 2000, she pleaded guilty in Toronto to an assault charge for beating an assistant while making a film in 1998. Under an agreement with prosecutors, Campbell expressed remorse and was released without punishment or a criminal record. In January 2007, Campbell pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault for throwing her cell phone at her maid in a dispute over a missing pair of jeans. The Daily Mirror said British Airways has banned Campbell from flying with them again after the incident. The 37-year-old Londoner, who was bailed Friday after her arrest, was reported by fellow passengers to have become aggressive and abusive to staff and to have then assaulted a police officer aboard the LA-bound aircraft, which had not taken off. A BA spokesman Tuesday declined to comment on the case, telling the Press Association: "We do not comment in detail about matters relating to individual passengers. "All incidents of abusive or disruptive behaviour towards fellow passengers or staff are taken extremely seriously and will not be tolerated. "We deal with cases on an individual basis and take appropriate action where necessary." Last year Campbell, known for her fiery temper, was found guilty of reckless assault for hitting her maid with a mobile phone.
