Rebecca Romijn Talks About Being Pretty on "Ugly Betty"

Filed under: Rebecca Romijn , Ugly Betty

After "Pepper Dennis," I was convinced that Rebecca Romijn should avoid acting jobs that didn't involve her covered in body paint, or hawking beauty products for about thirty seconds at a time, until she appeared as Alexis Meade on "Ugly Betty." Now, I take it all back. Apparently, the role that she was born to play was a male-to-female transgender working in the cutthroat fashion industry. Who knew? In any case, I absolutely love her on the show, especially the fact that she easily towers over pretty much any guy on there.

Romijn is featured on the June cover of Marie Claire and chatted about her career and relationship in an in-depth interview. However, since I think that her fiance, Jerry O'Connell, is about as interesting as dryer lint, I'm just going to focus on her role on "Ugly Betty."

"I've had a lot of people ask, 'How does it feel to be a man?' My response is, I'm not playing a man. I'm playing a woman, and Alexis loves being a woman. And so do I! And she's very girly. And so am I! But she's also really lonely. That's where we're different."

I heart Alexis Meade. Especially when she's pissed off and about to throw bows, while rocking stilettos. Now THAT is a chick who can multi-task.

Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O'Connell were married on Saturday in Los Angeles, Romijn's rep Lewis Kay tells PEOPLE.

"Rebecca and Jerry were married on Saturday evening in an intimate ceremony at their home surrounded by family and close friends," says the actress' rep.

Romijn, 34, wore a Ralph Lauren gown and jewelry by Neil Lane as she and O'Connell, 33, exchanged vows in front of 100 family and friends. The couple's two dogs Taco and Better – dressed in black bow ties – also joined in on the celebration, running around the grounds.

The couple met in the fall of 2004 when Romijn was scouting for her documentary Wet Dreams, about choreographing the fountains at Las Vegas' Bellagio Hotel and Casino.

"We met Jerry at a party," Romijn told PEOPLE. "We told him what we were doing and he was like, 'You're making a documentary out of this? I want to be the boom operator!' He was totally game."

O'Connell proposed to Romijn in September 2005, during a trip to New York.

This is the first marriage for O'Connell and the second for Romijn.

Romijn currently stars in ABC's hit comedy Ugly Betty. O'Connell will be starring in ABC's new comedy Carpoolers this fall.

Sweaty Wedding

Posted Image

Rebecca Romjin Lettuce married Jerry O'Connell at her ranch outside in Los Angeles yesterday. Around 100 guests sat in the damn heat to see these two make it legal. Becky wore Ralph Lauren. The reception was a western theme with entertainment by a gospel choir.

This is Becky's second marriage. She was previously married to John Stamos. Unfortch, he didn't attend. Jerry and Becky began dating in 2004.

The couple said, "We couldn't be happier and are looking forward to the next chapter of our lives."

Yeah, marriage then divorce. Hey, that's how Hollywood marriages work.

Jerry is the epitome of a "butterface." He has a body of sex, but the face of Howdy Doody.

Jerry O'Connell Will Never Be In A Tom Cruise Movie, AGAIN!

Tommy Girl's "Jerry Maguire" co-star, Jerry O'Connell, has made fun of his Scientology video for Funny or Die. It's not the greatest impersonation, but I find it funny that Jerry actually did it. One thing's for sure, he has Tommy Girl's Disney-villainess laugh down.

If I was Jerry I'd sleep with a necklace of garlic and a bullet-proof vest on...just in case. Better yet, sleep with Becky Romjin on top of you. Let Xenu take her first! She'll make an excellent alien bride.

Jerry O'Connell Races Across the Scottish Highlands in Extreme Adventure Competition

Wednesday March 5, 9:00 am ET

After Tackling Television and Film, Beloved Actor Gears Up for New Challenging Role at the 2008 DRAMBUIE Pursuit Competition

NEW YORK, March 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Drambuie liqueur today announced that famed film and television star Jerry O'Connell will participate in the 2008 Drambuie Pursuit -- a once-in-a-lifetime outdoor adventure race that will see ten U.S. teams racing through the Scottish Highlands as they retrace the legendary voyage of Bonnie Prince Charlie -- for whom the Drambuie elixir was created in 1745. After attempting to take over the British throne, the rebellious Prince Charlie fled Scotland and left behind to his aides the only thing he had left: the secret recipe for Drambuie.

Jerry O’Connell competes in extreme adventure competition

Actor Jerry O’Connell, who starred in “Jerry Maguire” “Crossing Jordan” and “Stand by Me” and is married to model/actress Rebecca Romijn will compete in an extreme adventure competition in the Scottish Highlands next month. The 2008 Drambuie Pursuit is an outdoor adventure race where teams retrace the voyage of Bonnie Prince Charlie, who created the recipe for Drambuie. Prince Charlie tried to take over the British throne, which didn’t work out so well. He then fled to Scotland, leaving behind his secret recipe. No word on how much alcohol this competition will feature, but you’d think any race sponsored by a liqueur company would lead to a good time.

The Drambuie Pursuit, which takes place in April 2008, will see teams of modern-day rebels competing in an epic race through one of Europe’s last great wildernesses. Teams will demonstrate their spirit of adventure by kayaking through rushing rapids, rappelling steep mountain faces and performing numerous other feats of endurance as they traverse the inhospitable terrain of the Highlands. Alongside the competing teams, Jerry O’Connell will experience his own bold journey as he follows the Prince’s storied route from Inverness to the Isle of Skye.

With a successful film and television career under his belt, Jerry O’Connell is now prepared to take on the newest challenge in his life: a 100-mile race across Scotland to relive the passion, spirit and legacy of rebel Prince Charlie. Jerry and his three teammates will compete in the first ever Drambuie Pursuit to permit American entrants, they — along with nine other teams — will experience an all-terrain adventure race the likes of which they will never forget.

“I am thrilled to take part in the Drambuie Pursuit,” said Jerry O’Connell. “I can’t wait to race across the Scottish Highlands and take part in this exciting and unique journey — and I’m confident that my team will win!”

[From Yahoo! News]

That’s pretty cool. It’s an all too rare occasion that celebrities compete in extreme adventure competitions. I have a few celebs I would like to personally nominate for something involving the aforementioned “rappelling steep mountain faces.” If Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan would like to join, that would make me incredibly happy. Seriously though, it’s very cool that Jerry O’Connell is doing this. He’s one of those actors that always seems up for a good time and has no problem laughing at just about everything and everyone – himself included. I’m assuming this is the kind of thing you have to train for – but how exactly does one prepare for “feats of endurance?” I’m guessing he’s breaking a lot of boards in his backyard or something. It sounds like there could be a bit of danger involved – Jerry, you’re really pretty. Protect the face. Thanks.

Rebecca Romijn Sizzles in Bebe

Posted Image

Rebecca Romijn looked fantastic in a spicy photoshoot for Bebe that, as always, incorporates both a bed and seductive poses. Can you believe that she’s 35 years old? Mischa Barton was replaced last year by Rebecca (ouch), and it looks like things are really working out if these shots have anything to say about it.

Do you think that Mischa will get ticked when she sees these? Rebecca might be looking a tad milfesque, but she’s still working it, and I think that’s more than Mischa could own up to recently.

Rebecca Romjin To Quit 'Ugly Betty'?

Actress Rebecca Romjin is quitting Ugly Betty after the current second season; claiming new writers on the show have wrecked her character. Romjin has become a regular cast member since first appearing as Alexis Meade in the first season of the ABC TV show.

A third series has been approved, but Romjin will only return for guest appearances - hinting that she has fallen out with new writing staff recruited after the Writer's Guild of America strike late last year.

She tells NYPost.com's Pop Wrap, "They made a tremendous amount of changes, especially with the writing staff (during the writer's strike). And while I know I'll be coming back next season, with all the changes, I'm not sure they can take care of my character they way they have been. So I'll be leaving, back in a recurring capacity, but time for me to leave and find something else."

Rebecca Romijn's reinvention

Rebecca Romijn has played her share of fantasy figures - notably the changeling Mystique in the "X-Men" series - but they pale in comparison to her role in Hunter Hill and Perry Moore's new film, "Lake City," which is showing at the Tribeca Film Festival (Friday, 9:30 p.m., BMC Tribeca PAC, 199 Chambers St.). Romijn plays Jennifer, a small-town cop.

What's fantastic is that anyone who looks like a Victoria's Secret/Sports Illustrated swimsuit model would settle for ticketing speeders and savoring the poky pleasures of little-town life. Recognizing this, the filmmakers did their best to dress Romijn down. It almost - but not quite - worked. No matter how hard they tried, it's hard to hide the fact that she's almost 6 feet tall.

"Hunter and Perry requested an ill-fitting uniform for me," Romijn, 35, says. "They wanted the pants a little too short. They wanted everything to be badly fitting. I didn't have to do any hair and makeup. In fact, I made my hair brown with mousse, and our budget was so tight that they asked me not to wash my hair every day so they could stretch the amount of mousse they were using in my hair."

This is a far cry from "X-Men's" Mystique, who required eight hours of makeup every day. More to the point, Jennifer, while she may be a knockout, is recognizable as a real person. She's a reformed alcoholic who attends AA meetings. She seems sweet on a troubled young man (played by Troy Garity) who returns to town with a boy in tow to visit his mother (Sissy Spacek).

But there was never any doubt in Romijn's mind that she could pull this role off.

"I come from a small city [berkeley, Calif.]," Romijn says. "I don't normally wear makeup. I'm kind of a girl next door. I'm a real wholesome person. I'm a home-body. I hang out with my dogs. I have a pretty quiet, normal life. It wasn't that much of a stretch for me."

The way she was cast was a bit down-home, too. She met the directors on the beach in Montauk and became "beach buddies" over the course of several summers. They told her about the project, and her first response was, " 'Okay, good luck with that,' with a hint of sarcasm." But the script and the cast put an end to the sarcasm. She signed on.

"Ugly Betty" fans are far more used to Romijn in another changeling guise, that of male-to-female transsexual Alexis Meade. As Alexis, her character falls somewhere between Mystique and Jennifer on the reality scale. Romijn has just wrapped the show's second season, and announced this week that there are even more changes in her future. She revealed she will probably not be a regular cast member for the upcoming third season of the hit ABC series.

"They've made a lot of changes with the writing staff," she says of "Ugly Betty." "I know I'm coming back at the beginning of next season, but I'm not sure that they are able to take care of my character as much as they were. So it may be time for me to move on to other things and see what else is going on."

RUNNING FOR COVER

It may be a hot L.A. day, but it's a little nippy for funny guy Jerry O'Connell, who gets faux modest while taking a shirtless run with his dog Sunday.

Ha ha, this guy does crack me up! :D
