Hissy Hurley

ELIZABETH Hurley is a VIP and won't settle for civilian treatment. She threw a hissy fit Thursday night on the ferry that was supposed to take her back to Manhattan from the Liberty Island celebration of Moet Champagne's 120th anniversary. When guests were informed that they could not take any champagne on board, "everyone else graciously agreed to abide by the rules," said our source. But an enraged Hurley refused to give up her magnum of Moet and three glasses, and held the boat at the dock for 20 minutes until security guards were finally able to get her to relinquish them.

I actually find the Keith Richards story pretty sad. How awful that he's still abusing drugs and alcohol at this stage of his life!

DMX Meltdown Triggers Concert Melee

by Josh Grossberg

Oct 2, 2006, 11:00 AM PT

http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,20143,00.html?fdnews

One jam led to another for DMX this weekend.

The Ruff Ryder was coheadlining Saturday's Back to School Jam with Lloyd Banks and the 50 Cent-powered G-Unit when sound problems at Nassau Coliseum caused the mercurial X man to cut short his set and spark a melee that left one fan injured.

According to Nassau Police Detective Sergeant James Watson, the rapper otherwise known as Earl Simmons, had been on stage no more than 15 minutes when the meltdown occurred.

"There came a point in time that the sound was turned down and up again during DMX's performance and it appears he became irate at the soundman," Watson tells E! Online. "DMX ran toward the sound person, jumped off the stage and onto the soundboard and started a fight with the person."

Security stepped in to break up the fisticuffs and escorted DMX out of the Long Island venue through a nearby tunnel.

But, according to police, things got dicey when DMX's entourage started tossing bottles of water at the simmering crowd.

"Chairs were thrown by the audience to the stage and…at one point a member of DMX's entourage picked up one of these steel folding chairs and threw it back into the crowd, striking the victim in the head," says Watson.

The concertgoer, an unidentified 29-year female, suffered a gash on her head. She was transported to Nassau University Medical Center where she received nine staples to close the wound before being released.

Detectives continue to investigate the incident, but haven't yet interviewed DMX or named the suspected chair-thrower.

Publicists for the rapper at his label, Sony Urban, declined to comment, as did a spokesperson for the Nassau Coliseum.

Per New York's Newsday, the audience was already in a bad mood long before DMX took the stage.

Atlanta-based rapper T.I., whose King topped the charts earlier this year, was also supposed to be among the headliners at the concert, sponsored by local radio station Hot 97. But organizers ended up scratching him from the lineup without explanation.

Ticket holders weren't notified beforehand and were reportedly surprised when the arrived to find signs around the Coliseum indicating the rapper was no longer on the bill.

Meanwhile, poor ticket sales meant the venue was half-full. And, making things worse, the show had been running way late.

According to Newsday, Banks and his posse didn't arrive on stage until 10:30 p.m., an hour and a half after the prior act, Yung Joc. A deejay explained to the crowd that the delay was due to some "security issues."

But 30 minutes into the set, which included raps by Fiddy and G-Unit, the sound was abruptly cut off. Banks and his crew left the stage apologizing to fans.

Next up was DMX. Starting his set at 11:30, the Grand Champ had been rhyming for just 15 minutes when his mike went out in the middle of a Busta Rhymes cover, "Touch It."

DMX reportedly dropped an F-bomb and then made a beeline for the soundman.

As the rapper was escorted out, fans began throwing food items at his bodyguards on the stage, prompting the retaliatory bottle-throwing.

After the chair dinged the audience member, police secured the venue and organizers scrapped remaining performances by Jim Jones and Foxy Brown.

DMX has been on the road supporting his latest album, Year of the Dog...Again, which debuted at number two on the Billboard charts in August.

The entertainer, who has a long rap sheet, recently canceled a USO tour of American military bases in the Persian Gulf, partly due to continuing legal trouble.

Haysbert Refused To Be Assassinated

Dennis Haysbert was furious when he found out that his character on 24, President David Palmer, was being assassinated and told producers he would refuse to tape the scene. The star argued over the storyline for months because he felt killing the president would send out a dangerous message to viewers. Haysbert appeared on US chat show The View yesterday where he explained how he left the show saying, "They did it as a stunt to get ratings and it worked. It started at the end of season four when I did the last six episodes. Then I thought I was done. I was right in the middle of the fourth episode I was doing when they called me up at lunch time to talk to me and said, 'Dennis, on the first show of next season, we're going to shoot you.' I said, 'Good luck with that. What's it going to be a CNN (news) report? Because I won't shoot it.' So we went back and forth and back and forth and the season ended and all during the summer the fellows kept calling and then they sent their mercenary, one of my best friends on the show, the show runner Howard Gordon, whom I love, and I have to tell you before I go any further that I love the guys on 24, both in front of the camera and behind it. We have a legacy of killing our leaders in this country and I said, 'Guys, don't do it.' Howard basically said, 'Dennis, look I understand how you feel. I believe you, I believe in what you're saying, but we need it to start the show, because without it, we don't have a season.'" Haysbert eventually gave in and went on to star in the TV series The Unit about a top secret United States Special Operations Force.

'King's Men' Director Feels "Like Getting Hit by a Truck"

Oscar-winning screenwriter (Schindler's List) and director Steve Zaillian was clearly stunned by the critical and box-office failure of his latest film, All the King's Men, which opened with only $3.8 million in its debut and fell out of the top-ten in its second weekend. Zaillian told today's (Tuesday) Los Angeles Times that it was "like getting hit by a truck. ... I don't know what to make of it." Zaillian says he was particularly taken aback by the reaction of critics to his film about a Southern politician in the mold of Louisiana's Huey Long. "Maybe down the road I'll figure it out," he told the Times. "We're all a bit shellshocked. I feel like Huey Long must have felt -- you try to do good and they shoot you for it." Zaillian pointed out that studios are generally reluctant to finance a movie like King's Men. "It's dangerous for a studio to do financially," Zaillian said. "The reason to do it from the studio's standpoint is a good one -- because they believe in it in terms of the story."

Thank god he finally agreed to shoot that scene. That was an amazing start to an amazing season. IMO, the best show on TV.

J.Lo Flight-Schooled

E! Online

Perhaps Jennifer Lopez couldn't squeeze a checkbook into her carry-on luggage.

A Los Angeles-area private aircraft company sued the Maid in Manhattan star Wednesday for alleged post-flight misconduct. As in, neglecting to pay the bill.

Burbank-based Avjet Corp. filed its complaint in L.A. Superior Court, stating that Lopez and her husband Marc Anthony chartered a jet Jan. 26 to fly them and four friends from Farmingdale, New York, to Puerto Rico, and then used the company again May 25 to go from Farmingdale to Burbank.

Neither of the $16,000 trips has been paid for, Avjet's lawsuit says, and Lopez owes more than $34,000.

When they weren't jetting across the country, Lopez and Anthony took time to attend the Toronto International Film Festival last month, where their pet project, the Hector Lavoe biopic El Cantante, scored a distribution deal with Picturehouse and a summer 2007 release date.

"One of the things that people who've seen the movie walk away with is that they loved the music and [ask], 'Who is it? And how can I get more of it?' " Lopez told Spanish-language network MTV Tres, referring to the pioneering salsa rhythms that made Lavoe, played by Anthony in the film, an icon both in his native Puerto Rico and the U.S.

Lopez the Entrepreneur is scheduled to premiere her latest J.Lo and Sweetface collections Oct. 12 and 14 during Miami Beach Fashion Week.

The On the 6 singer also reportedly sacked her manager, Jeff Kwatinetz, last month. J.Lo didn't issue a statement, but Kwatinetz's company, The Firm, said: "Jennifer is a dear friend of The Firm and will remain so regardless of the business relationship. This was a decision based on differing styles and expectations and we wish her the absolute best."

Her first Spanish-language album, Como Ama Una Mujer (The Way a Woman Loves), is due out in November, and Lopez is back on the big screen later this year in Bordertown with Antonio Banderas.

Meanwhile, the multifaceted performer continues to deny that she's with child, surmising that she "must have had 20 babies by now. [but] it's part of being a celebrity, of being in the public eye."

No End To Bad News For Foxy

November 6, 2006 -- BAD-tempered Foxy Brown is having an "annus horribilis," as Queen Elizabeth II would say.

Not only did she temporarily lose her hearing, but she was convicted of assaulting a manicurist and got into several disputes with court officers, her book deal with Simon & Schuster was terminated, and now comes word that her "comeback album" on Def Jam, slated for December, may not be released.

A source reports, "[Def Jam head] Jay-Z is furious at Foxy's lack of productivity on her album 'Black Roses.' He is also mad because Foxy was talking out of school about him and [Def Jam artist] Rihanna and saying things that weren't true.

"The album has been plagued as a result of Foxy's hearing loss, constant legal woes and horrible publicity. Regardless, the label has poured tons of money into her project, pushed the album back four times, and Foxy still hasn't been able to produce anything but embarrassing editorial features," our insider continued.

"Def Jam planned to release her album around the release of her book, 'Broken Silence,' but Foxy has since lost her publishing deal with Simon & Schuster and has been vigorously shopping her book to others."

Brown was also in talks to go on Oprah Winfrey's show to promote the book and her album and discuss her troubles, but that has fallen through as well.

Now the word around Def Jam is that Brown is about to be dropped from the label altogether. "Foxy has absolutely no idea that she is about to get the ax from Jay," our source says. "She's been trying to get meetings with him, and he isn't even returning her phone calls."

A rep for Def Jam and Jay-Z declined to comment. Brown has no rep, and her former rep referred our calls to Def Jam.

But a friend of Brown insisted: "Foxy left Simon & Schuster, not the other way around, and she's about to announce a deal with another book publisher. Her album is fine."

Supermodel Naomi Campbell was furious when she landed in Australia Thursday because she mistakenly thought a Qantas airline employees had tipped off the press about her arrival. Campbell had flown from Bangkok, Thailand, to Sydney and let loose on a flight attendant trailing her with her luggage trolley.

The volatile supermodel, who has a history of abusing her assistants, told the attendant, "F**k off! I am never flying Qantas again!" The airline confirmed Campbell was on the flight, but were baffled as to why she was so angry.

According to the Sydney Daily Telegraph, Campbell was under the mistaken impression that Qantas had tipped the media off, when, in fact, the newspaper's reporters were at the terminal for another story when a passenger on her flight told the media that she was about to emerge from the arrivals gate.

Campbell first told the press that she was in Sydney on a "private engagement... a funeral" before screaming, "F**k off! Respect my privacy!" The airport tantrum is the latest in a series of outbursts from the supermodel, who is currently facing the possibility of a seven-year jail term in the US for allegedly throwing a phone at her former maid. A Qantas spokesman says, "We are not aware of any issue Ms Campbell may have had on her Qantas flight. And we've looked into all angles from departure to in-flight and arrival."

A few years ago, a friend of mine happened to check in Campbell (she was going to LA from NY) for the airline she worked for and she said it was the worst experience she's had to date (dealing with famous or non-famous people). She said Campbell was jusy nasty for no reason. So to get her sweet revenge, as soon she finished checking Naomi in, she ripped ALL the tags off her luggages and made sure they didn't go on the plane..... To this day my friend still wonders if Campbell was EVER able to find the luggages..

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was priceless!

But-she was just being playful.

Hill said Tuesday in a statement released by her publicist: "The idea that I would act disrespectful towards a fellow musician is unimaginable to me. For this to become a focus of attention given the talent gathered is utterly ridiculous. Carrie is a talented and deserving female vocalist of the year."

Added Hill's manager, Gary Borman: "I've worked with Faith for many years now and the idea that she would ever insult or undermine another artist, let alone another human being's success is absolutely preposterous. Those who know her know that she's incapable of such actions. She was being playful while the nominations were being read and playful after."

I really think Faith was just playing around. People are making a big story out of this and it is obvious she was only joking. I think if she were serious, she would have made an effort to hide a reaction like that :) .

She totally could have been playing around and I hope that is true. But, right before it looked like (to me) that she thought that her name had been called. She was waving her arms around like "thank you!" You know what I mean?

Bad Company

MAYOR Bloomberg is careful about the people with whom he associates. When he learned "Saturday Night Live" alum Tracy Morgan was one of the celebs slated to join him at the Rockefeller Center Christmas-tree lighting, a call was placed to NBC, which televised the event. Morgan - who was on probation for a January drunk-driving arrest in L.A. - was arrested on drunk-driving charges in upper Manhattan earlier in the week after allegedly weaving in his Cadillac Escalade. Sources say NBC disinvited Morgan, who stars in the network's "30 Rock."

Stone Riles Norwegians with Royal Blunder

Basic Instinct star Sharon Stone has angered the people of Norway after breaking with royal protocol and upstaging the country's King and Queen at a banquet. Stone may have wanted to make a grand entrance at Sunday's dinner honoring the Nobel Peace Prize winners in Oslo, but ended up making a royal faux pas by arriving late. Royal protocol in Europe dictates that when a King and Queen attend an event, everyone is required to be in their seats when the royal couple make their entrance, making them the last to arrive. Stone offended the Norwegian royal couple by waltzing into the room 10 minutes after the couple, which has been interpreted by Norwegians as the actress declaring herself more important than the King. This year's event was especially significant because it marked the first time that Norway's King Harald V and Queen Sonja were invited to the annual Nobel Banquet at Oslo's Grand Hotel. Stone's late arrival offended several guests, with former palace official Carl-Erik Grimstad calling it a "violation" of international custom. He tells Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten, "When the king is invited to such an event, guests need to have a very good reason for arriving after he does. I'm sure that if she didn't have a good reason, she'll be sorry about it."

Being an American, I have a hard time seeing what the problem is. If Sharon Stone wants to arrive late, so what. Say what you want about her, but she worked to get where she is today and uses every opportunity for press she can get. If this so-called King earned his fortune I might respect him. If this so-called King actually worked for a living, I might respect him more.

Well, there's undoubtedly an element of truth in what you say but it is all about observance of local customs and respecting the wishes and customs of your host. Interestingly I was just reading an article in the UK press stating that Dubya was angry with British journalists because they refuse to stand up when he comes into the White House Press Room.

Yeah. I don't care about royalty but i do care about being polite to your host and hostess in any circumstance. If I were invited to any dinner party and I was asked to arrive on time, i'd either politely decline the invititation or abide by the hosts' wishes.

Stars' Ego Trips Trip Up Flicks

February 2, 2007 -- IT'S bad-behavior time on the sets of a trio of movies now being shot.

Chris Tucker, the star whose large paycheck and ego have been well-documented, has been demanding script changes in "Rush Hour 3."

"He won't come out of his trailer until the script is up to his standards," giggled one spy on the set in Santa Ana. "What, $25 million isn't enough to just do your job and act?" A rep for Tucker didn't return calls.

On the same set, horndog director Brett Ratner "sends an assistant named Scott around to every female extra, collecting phone numbers in a too obvious, not-so-suave way," the source said. "Scott commands these $150-a-day actress-hopefuls to give him their phone numbers simply because 'the director wants it.' "

A rep for Ratner, who has dated Rebecca Gayheart and Serena Williams, said, "That's ridiculous. If Brett wants a phone number, he'll get it himself."

Meanwhile, across town, detoxing can be hard on a girl - but even harder for her co-workers. A source on the set of Lindsay Lohan's "I Know Who Killed Me" says that ever since she went to the Wonderland clinic, she's been "moody and is making everyone miserable around her. She'll be late and sometimes won't come out of her trailer." Lohan is being trailed by a "sober coach" as well as an entourage.

Lohan's hardworking rep, Leslie Sloane Zelnik, said, "I am not witnessing [cranky, moody] behavior at all. When is this girl going to get a break without everyone judging her every move?"

The third delinquent, Paris Hilton, supposedly has been late arriving on the set of "The Hottie and the Nottie," and had trouble learning her lines. "Everyone is really fed up with her right now," said our tipster.

But producer Hadeel Reda told Page Six: "Paris has never been more than 15 minutes late. Everything is memorized. She's been very professional."

Hilton has been studying with Ivana Chubbuck, one of the top acting coaches in Hollywood, Reda said. "I think people are going to be shocked at how good she is."
