Dakota Fanning Is Not Ready To Pull A Demi Moore

Posted Image

Dakota Fanning should not call herself a true thespian! Dakota and her little sister, Elle, were going to star alongside Cameron Diaz in "My Sister's Keeper." Nick Cassavetes will direct the story about a young girl who sues for emancipation from her parents after she learns she was only conceived as a genetic match for her sister who is dying of some illness.

Elle was set to play the young girl and Dakota was set to play her sick sister. The film also stars Alec Baldwin and Joan Cusack. Production begins this March.

Well, Dakota has pulled out of the movie and has taken her sister with her. Dakota refused to shave her head for the role. She reportedly "baulked" when producers told her it was required. What the hell kind of actress is she?! I thought she was serious about her craft. The two will be replaced by Abigail Breslin and Sofia Vassilieva.

Dakota better watch it! She needs to step it up if she wants to be the next Meryl Streep. If she doesn't she'll be forced to act with CGI pigs! Oh, she's done that. OK, with broken legged race horsies! Oh she's done that too. Her career is over.

Abigail's a better actress anyway. And cuter.

Dakota Fanning really wants to keep her hair

The Scoop

The world will have to wait a little longer for Dakota Fanning and her mini-me sister Elle to co-star in a film together.

Variety is reporting that Dakota is pulling out of “My Sister’s Keeper” because she would have to shave her head for the role, and once Dakota dropped out, Elle did too. Part of the curiosity over Dakota’s decision stems other controversial parts she’s accepted in the past, namely her role in “Hounddog,” where she played a young victim of sexual assault.

But back to “Sister’s Keeper. ”Dakota Fanning’s heir apparent, Abigail Breslin, will be taking Elle’s spot and “Medium” star Sofia Vassilieva will take over for Dakota. Production of the film, an adaption of Jodi Picoult’s best-selling novel, is set to begin in March.

He’s Just Not That Into You’ woos box office

Romantic-comedy earns $27.5 million in debut weekend

msnbc.com

LOS ANGELES - Movie fans were into "He's Just Not That Into You" as the ensemble romance got a jump on Valentine's Day to lead the weekend box office with a $27.5 million debut, according to studio estimates Sunday.

The movie whose cast includes Jennifer Aniston, Scarlett Johansson, Ben Affleck, Drew Barrymore and Jennifer Connelly knocked off the previous weekend's top flick, the abduction thriller "Taken," which dropped to second place with $20.3 million.

With Valentine's Day falling in the middle of next weekend, the movie released by the Warner Bros. banner New Line Cinema is positioned for another solid showing, said Dan Fellman, head of distribution for Warner Bros.

"We're really walking into a terrific weekend. The biggest bump you can ever get for a romantic comedy is when Valentine's Day falls on a Saturday," Fellman said. "We'll see the girls, female power, drag the guys back in next Saturday."

"Taken," distributed by 20th Century Fox, raised its 10-day total to $53.4 million, its second-weekend gross dropping just 18 percent from its debut. Top films often can drop 50 percent or more in their second weekend.

Box office results

Estimated ticket sales for Feb. 6-8

1. "He's Just Not That Into You," $27.5 million

2. "Taken," $20.3 million

3. "Coraline," $16.3 million

4. "The Pink Panther 2," $12 million

5. "Paul Blart: Mall Cop," $11 million

6. "Push," $10.2 million

7. "Slumdog Millionaire," $7.4 million

8. "Gran Torino," $7.2 million

9. "The Uninvited," $6.4 million

10. "Hotel for Dogs," $5.8 million.

Two movies featuring Dakota Fanning opened in the top 10 — Focus Features' animated adventure "Coraline" at No. 3 with $16.3 million and Summit Entertainment's sci-fi thriller "Push" at No. 6 with $10.2 million.

Steve Martin's Inspector Clouseau bumbled through the weekend as "The Pink Panther 2" turned in a so-so $12 million debut to finish at No. 4. The Sony-MGM sequel came in well behind 2006's "The Pink Panther," which premiered with $20.2 million.

Hollywood continued its hot streak as the top 12 movies hauled in $131.4 million, up 46 percent from the same weekend last year, when the romantic comedy "Fool's Gold" was No. 1 with $21.6 million.

Overall revenues are just above $1.2 billion for the year and are running 19.4 percent ahead of 2008's, according to box-office tracker Media By Numbers.

"It seems like every film that's been opening has been doing better than expected, or many of them have," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of Media By Numbers. "I've not seen the start of a year this strong in my entire career."

Academy Awards front-runner "Slumdog Millionaire" continued to make good on its Oscar buzz, pulling in $7.4 million and raising its total to $77.4 million. The movie passed "Sideways" to take second-place on Fox Searchlight's list of highest-grossing films, behind "Juno" at $143 million.

In narrow release, the Weinstein Co. comedy "Fanboys" opened modestly with $164,000 in 44 theaters, averaging $3,727 a cinema. That compared to an $8,650 average in 3,175 theaters for "He's Just Not That Into You."

Fanning Wants to go to College

Dakota Fanning is planning to go to college.

The 14-year-old actress - whose breakthrough movie role was in the 2001 film I Am Sam - insists her Hollywood career won't stop her from going on to further education.

"I definitely want to go to college. I've always wanted to, so I definitely think that's something I will do," she said. "[My parents] definitely support me in that and I'm lucky they supported me in going to a regular high school too, because I was home schooled before.

"I was home schooled from second grade to eighth grade and I thought it was great because it helped me to do what I love to do. It worked out really well, but I think for ninth grade you want the high school experience."

Fanning recently confirmed reports she was in talks to star alongside Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner in Twilight sequel New Moon.

She said, "It's definitely a possibility and I think it would be really, really fun to be a part of.

"I think just playing an evil vampire is really cool. If I got to do [New Moon], that'd probably be the most fun part."

Dakota Fanning: ‘New Moon Movie Sounded Like Fun’

DAKOTA Fanning says she took a role in New Moon because it sounded like fun and she was desperate to be a part of it.

The actress — who plays Jane in the Twilight sequel — admits she was keen to star in such a popular movie franchise.

“I read all four Twilight books in one week,” she told Teen Vogue. “It’s such a phenomenon, and I wanted to be able to say that I was a part of it.”

Asked how she prepared for the role, Fanning said, “I wasn’t in my mirror like Zoolander, doing the Blue Steel!

“The red contacts were enough.”

Fanning, 15, says she has no intentions of quitting Hollywood.

“I’m going to get older,” she said. “And I want to act for the rest of my life — it’s what I love — so I have to move forward with my career. The choices that I make might not always please everyone, but I have to do what I feel is appropriate and right for the time.”

“I get my rebellion out through my movies,” Fanning added. “I’m boring in that way. I enjoy having a normal life.”

Dakota says that despite her celebrity, the kids at her private school in Los Angeles have never treated her differently to anyone else.

“I started there in the ninth grade, and they were pretty receptive to me right away, ” she said. “I really wanted a home base, because I feel like no matter how old people are, they remember homecoming. They remember their senior prom. And I really wanted that.”

Kristen Stewart banned from 'groping' underage Dakota Fanning

Kristen Stewart was banned from "groping" Dakota Fanning during their onscreen kiss for new movie "The Runaways" because her co-star was just 15 when they shot the steamy scene.

The pair puckered up for a same-sex smooch during the film, about the 1970s rock group and featuring the "Twilight" actress as Joan Jett and Fanning as her band mate Cherie Currie.

And Stewart, 19, admits she was restricted by working practice regulations when they filmed the kiss, because Fanning was so young.

She tells "Access Hollywood," "She was 15, and I wasn't allowed to grope her. I'm actually not kidding, there are major restrictions that I don't remember (from) when I was younger.

"I don't want to give anything way. It's a really passionate, hardcore scene."

Dakota Fanning Has no Plans to Become a Singer

DAKOTA Fanning insists she won’t be ditching her acting career to become a singer.

The teen star — who plays The Runaways lead singer Cherie Currie in new movie The Runaways — admits she’d faint if she had to perform her own music.

“I never thought of myself as a singer,” she said. “I’ve always been kind of self-conscious about singing but I’ve realized if I’m playing a character I can do it because I kind of get to hide behind her a little bit.

“But just as Dakota Fanning, I would pass out.”

Dakota Fanning Reveals Lady GaGa Love

Runaways star Dakota Fanning has revealed that she is a fan of Lady GaGa.

The actress, who stars as Cherie Curry in the upcoming rock biopic, told MTV News that she admires GaGa's stage presence.

"I am a fan of Lady GaGa because I think she's a really great singer and a really great entertainer and when you watch her perform, you know it's going to be a show. I think that's really cool," she explained.

Co-star Kristen Stewart, who plays Joan Jett in the movie, was also asked her opinion on GaGa. She replied: "I don't even know what's on the radio, but I know she's really hot. She's got a look."

The Runaways opens in the US later this month.

Dakota Fanning's Corset Concern

Dakota Fanning never thought she would end up "performing in lingerie".

The actress - who plays Cherie Currie in 'The Runaways', based on the 70s girl band of the same name - loved working on the role but was shocked with how outrageous the costumes for her rock-chick character would be.

She said: "I really liked that I was 15 when we filmed it, and Currie was 15 and seeing what a different time I've grown up in and thinking, 'I could probably never do this, I could probably never be on my own and on the road and performing in lingerie.' "That corset is kind of how she expressed herself, and for Cherie, the way she expressed her sexuality was to wear that corset and to be the cherry bomb."

The actress - now aged 16 - has played a number of child characters since she rose to fame in 2001 with 'I Am Sam'.

However, Dakota is thrilled about getting older and working on a new selection of roles.

She added in an interview with USA Today newspaper: "A lot of people still think of me as young, and as the girl from 'I Am Sam', or whatever.

"After this, I might be able to do different things. As you get older, there are roles you can no longer do and so many more things you can do."

Dakota Fanning’s Marc Jacobs Ad Banned for Being Too Racy

people.com

Dakota Fanning‘s latest role has received a big thumbs-down in the U.K.

The actress’s recent magazine ad for Marc Jacobs’s Oh, Lola! perfume is too suggestive, Britain’s advertising watchdog has ruled, and must be pulled immediately, the BBC reports.

The ad in question shows the 17-year-old American actress in a thigh-length dotted dress with an oversize flower-topped bottle of Oh, Lola! resting between her legs.

The U.K.’s Ad Standards Authority determined that “the length of her dress, her leg and position of the perfume bottle drew attention to her sexuality. Because of that, along with her appearance, we considered the ad could be seen to sexualize a child.”

The ASA ruled that the ad was irresponsible, likely to cause “serious offense,” and must not appear again.

Coty UK, the maker of the perfume, had argued that the image was “provoking but not indecent.” Tell us: Do you think Fanning’s ad is too racy for print?

Dakota Fanning’s Marc Jacobs Ad Banned for Being Too Racy

people.com

I think England banning this is a bit much. Anyone old enough to get the reference thinks it's a lame cheap shot. On the other hand if I had been Dakota's manager I would have axed this right off the bat. She does not need the Lola rep, she actually has talent :D

Agree about the talent, but I would have yanked the picture just because its a crap picture. It looks like it was shot with an old Polaroid.

Yeah, but that's the style that Marc Jacobs has been using in his ads the past few years - isn't Terry Richardson the photographer? It's not an aesthetic I appreciate, but the brand has been consistent in it use......
