LOL.... I was wondering and at first I was like " hey this looks familiar" - the funny part is that they BOTH have the same hair cut.. So I assume everyone in rehab has a greasy bob...

I LOVE those W shots! I think Hathaway can get away with some outrageous editorial styling! Of course, she can look boring as crap on occasion, but I think she's has a very interesting look--not at all the standard beauty queen--that allows her to pull off the interesting & exotic on occasion.

Hathaway Breaks Silence on Follieri Split

Actress Anne Hathaway has opened up about her painful breakup from Raffaello Follieri, confessing she was in "shock" when she heard about his arrest.

The " Rachel Getting Married" star split from Follieri in June shortly before he was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy, wire fraud and money laundering in an alleged scam allowing him to purchase unwanted U.S. properties owned by the Catholic Church.

Hathaway tells W magazine, "As soon as I found out about the arrest, I had to get on a plane to Mexico to do a press tour for 'Get Smart.' And then I spent a week in shock at a friend's house. ... I just started to cry because I thought, I don't have a life right now. And I haven't for some time."

Hathaway insists it was her friends and cast mates who have helped her get through the ordeal.

She adds: "It's a situation where the rug was pulled out from under me all of a sudden. But just as suddenly, my friends threw another rug back under me.

"Steve Carell stepped up for me during an interview when someone asked a question about it. He said, 'At some point you're going to have to talk about this time in your life. You don't have to do it this week. I'll take care of anything that comes your way.'"

Follieri is facing at least four years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of fraud on Wednesday.

Follieri, 30, entered his plea to each of 14 counts charging him with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud and money laundering in a Manhattan Federal court in front of U.S. District Judge John Koeltl.

In part of a statement Follieri read in court on Wednesday, he said: "I wired money from a New York bank to the Vatican bank in Rome to promote my relationship with the Vatican. ... I knew what I was doing was wrong."

As part of his plea, Follieri admitted misappropriating at least $2.4 million of investor money, sending it to foreign personal bank accounts that were disguised as business accounts, and using the funds for his own expenses.

On the most serious charges, Follieri faces a possible maximum term of 20 years imprisonment.

Speaking outside court, Follieri's lawyer, Flora Edwards, said: "As with many people, he got sidetracked by the need to adopt a lifestyle he couldn't maintain."

His sentencing has been scheduled for October 3.

or she stuck with him knowing he was pulling off shady deals until it threatened to hurt her career.

I'm inclined to lean that way. But then I also think she helped the Feds by luring him back to the States so they could arrest him. Eh, we've all made stupide boyfriend decisions in our lives

From MSN:

Anne Hathaway's reputation wasn't the only thing dinged by former boyfriend Raffaello Follieri's underhanded business dealings. Seems her jewelry box also took a hit. The Smoking Gun reports that the FBI recently "recovered" several "lavish" baubles bestowed upon the actress by her con artist ex, who is expected to spend at least five years in the pokey after pleading guilty this week to wire fraud, money laundering and conspiracy. Among the items that Hathaway, who's not mentioned by name in court documents, purportedly handed over to the feds: two Rolex watches -- one gold, one silver; two gold rings, one with "clear stones," which may be FBI-speak for diamonds; a five-strand pearl necklace; a silver bracelet dotted with "clear stones"; and a silver chain with a cross and "blue and clear stones." Anne opens up in the October issue of W about her breakup with Follieri after four years of togetherness, explaining, "It's a situation where the rug was pulled out from under me all of a sudden. But just as suddenly, my friends threw another rug back under me." She then tearfully notes, "I've been shown such kindness. Not everyone gets that. A lot of people go through tough times alone."

Hathaway able to laugh at herself on ‘SNL’

By Courtney Hazlett

The Scoop

MSNBC

When Anne Hathaway rebuffed David Letterman's attempts to discuss her ex-boyfriend, Rafaello Follieri, during her appearance last week on "The Late Show," some wondered: Would all things Follieri be off-limits when she appeared on "Saturday Night Live" Oct. 4?

Just moments into her opening monologue, the answer became clear. Hathaway joked that, last summer, "I broke up with my boyfriend... and two weeks later he was sent to prison for fraud ... I mean, we've all been there, right, ladies?"

Friends close to Hathaway say they weren't surprised that Hathaway was a good sport.

"She is so moving on," says a friend. “People didn't really give her enough credit when she was in the middle of it all. News flash — she's always been fun and a little self-deprecating."

Hathaway's appearance on "SNL" helped the show score one of its highest-rated shows since 2002. Tina Fey, who reprised her role as vice-presidential candidate and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin was also a huge draw. Although a few well-placed sources maintain that Fey will indeed appear as Palin every week until the elections, a rep for "SNL" says, "There is no way to confirm her."

Good for her. I am glad she can laugh at the situation now because it was/is probably pretty humiliating.

I always kind of liked Hathaway and think she's has an interesting look and is a very capable actress, but her SNL appearance won me over forever. Not only did she demonstrate a great, self-deprecating sense of humor, she also made every skit she was in work better than it normally would. Lately any SNL episode is a sharp, funny political opener followed by a steep downhill slide. This weekend's ep still peaked in the opening sketch, but there were some seriously funny moments afterward, too, most of them involving Hathaway. Her Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins impression was dead-on.

Anne Hathaway: 'I'm Bad With Names'

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anne Hathaway can't remember people's names.

The Devil Wears Prada actress insists she is always forgetting what people are called so has instead come up with a nifty way of refreshing her memory.

She explains, "I am so bad with names.

"My mom asked me somebody's name the other day and I couldn't answer. So I said, well what were they wearing? And when she told me, then I remembered the name.

"But I could have a conversation right now about someone's kids and I could remember all that.

"But I would not remember their name! But I might say, 'How is your third rib doing?' to the person, you know, if it was cracked. And that maybe happened like five years ago!"

That's funny: I'm the exact same way. I can remember everything somebody told me except his or her name. I wonder what that's all about, psychologically speaking.

Anne Hathaway's ex-boyfriend gets 4 1/2 years in scam

By LARRY NEUMEISTER, Associated Press Writer Larry Neumeister, Associated Press Writer – 50 mins ago

NEW YORK – Anne Hathaway's former boyfriend was sentenced Thursday to 4 1/2 years in prison for cheating investors of millions of dollars by claiming he had Vatican connections that enabled him to buy Roman Catholic Church property at a discount.

"I dishonored my family name and embarrassed the church I love. I'll never be able to wash away that stain, and I will have to live with it the rest of my life," Raffaello Follieri, 30, said through an Italian interpreter before he was sentenced. "I just hope someday those who have been hurt by my actions can forgive me."

U.S. District Judge John G. Koeltl said Follieri had engaged in a significant fraud that hurt investors, will financially ruin him and will cause him to be deported after his prison term. The judge also cited Follieri's "lavish personal expenditures," which prosecutors have said were financed with his investors' money.

Follieri said he started off with good intentions, determined to run an honorable business.

"Instead, I made some terrible mistakes," he said. "I always thought I could repair the wrongdoing, but I was wrong."

But Assistant U.S. Attorney Reed Brodsky said Follieri had lied about his education, his background, his wealth and his Vatican connections from the moment he solicited investors through his real estate business, the Follieri Group.

Those investors included Yucaipa Cos., which is controlled by supermarket billionaire Ron Burkle, a close friend of former President Clinton.

Follieri agreed to forfeit $2.4 million when he pleaded guilty last month to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering.

Koeltl ordered Follieri Thursday to forfeit 15 watches and other precious metals and jewelry. The judge said he would impose a substantial amount of restitution at a future date.

Prosecutors have said Follieri falsely claimed he was the Vatican's chief financial officer and showed at least one business contact a phony letter Pope John Paul II purportedly wrote to him in 2002.

Follieri spent millions of dollars of investors' money on personal expenses, including flowers, cosmetics, clothes, wine, expensive dinners, dog-walking services, yacht rentals, a $37,000-a-month Manhattan condo and vacations for himself, his parents and Hathaway, prosecutors said.

They said he even he used $18,200 of investors' cash to settle a lawsuit over expenses he ran up on vacation with the "Get Smart" and "The Devil Wears Prada" star. The two dated for four years, until shortly before his arrest in June.

Defense lawyer Flora Edwards has pinned Follieri's troubles on his acquaintances with movie stars and celebrities, saying in court papers that he "became intoxicated with it all."

"Unfortunately, he lacked the resources to maintain the opulent lifestyle of his new friends," she wrote.

Edwards asked that Follieri be sentenced to three years in prison, even though he had agreed to serve at least four years and three months when he entered his guilty plea.

She noted that more than 100 letters had been written on his behalf, and she said his charitable acts and a gravely ill mother were reasons to lighten his sentence.

But Brodsky argued that Follieri made his charitable contributions with money he had stolen from investors and lied about his intentions almost from the moment he arrived in the United States six years ago.

ANNE'S NEW GUY

THE last thing actress Anne Hathaway needs now is another social climber. Her last beau, blue-blood wannabe Raffaello Follieri, is behind bars, and so she's moved on to Adam Shulman, an actor she's been spotted vacationing with in New Orleans. "Adam is known as an opportunist," an insider told Page Six. "When he was at Brown [university], he went after all the heiresses. It's like Anne is addicted to losers." A rep for Shulman had no comment.
