Gracenote 259 Report post Posted April 13, 2015 Thank you, Fykey, you are sweet. I have read that people with long term illnesses tend to die when the seasons change, although one man in my circle was driving drunk with no seatbelt, so he was just an ass year round. Not to sound dis-compassionate but he left a wife and three little children with no insurance, living in a dump of a trailer. They have a lot of friends though and people who want to help in any way we can. After the grief is not as raw, they will be okay. No one beating on them any more. The oldest son is staying with us while his mom gets things together. Another friend who had ovarian cancer sat in bed and paid all her bills then lay back and died. That was so typical of her. Left everything in order. One lady was 95 and ready to go. Another was a wonderful man who started the CASA program here and did so much for us foster parents. He had heart failure. All that off topic chat is just to say that a lot of people are passing away all of a sudden. But I'm not going anywhere . I feel so bad for Bobbi K., Whitney's daughter. She is so young. So much ahead of her.

My father passed away 9 years ago March after a 2 year battle with cancer, then in the past year, we lost two cats, one last March from cancer and one this past Friday from a brain lesion. And I know a lot of other people who have gone through the same thing. This is becoming my worst time of year. Come on spring!

Losing your Dad is horrible, but I know how painful the loss of a pet is. I love my cats. I live in a very small town where everyone knows everyone and we just lost a little second grader from unexplained seizures. They tried everything including cannabis oil but yesterday her parents had to remove life support. Still no idea what caused it. I was surprised to see that the actress who played the youngest daughter on Partridge Family died this week. She was younger than me. Come on summer and give us a break from all this sadness.

dixiedoodah 1,003 Report post Posted May 7, 2015 Didn't he die a long time ago? Yes, a quick search tells me he died in July of last year. Maybe something was recycled and people thought it was new?
Hoyaheel 1,874 Report post Posted May 8, 2015 Hmm, that explains a George Takei post on Facebook ;-) And my memory is for shit....Though when I read "James Garner" I was actually picturing James Brolin....Hope that's not a jinx!!
fykeylicious 1,099 Report post Posted May 8, 2015 No, it's not just you - my aunt just shared it on Facebook until someone told her he died nearly a year ago. So something about him must have generally resurfaced

tyler 408 Report post Posted August 12, 2015 (edited) courtesy the New York Times: Former President Jimmy Carter has announced he has cancer that has spread. I always thought Jimmy Carter was one of the few actually nice and decent people who had made it to the White House. Not passed yet, but this makes me sad. Gracenote 259 Report post Posted August 19, 2015 I really hated to hear about Jimmy Carter. Being from Georgia, we have made the trip to Plains and seen the museum, the giant peanut, his childhood home, and current home (although surrounded by a huge fence and the secret service are everywhere). He teaches Sunday school, he builds homes for Habitat for Humanity, he negotiated the treaty between Israel & Egypt that still stands. I'm not a Democrat, so this isn't a political commercial; I just like the man and his wife. It will hurt me when he passes.
