Owen Wilson

THESE are the first pictures of OWEN WILSON since the troubled Hollywood star left hospital after his suicide bid a week ago.

Wilson, 38, looked sweaty and unshaven as he was taken from actor friend Woody Harrelson’s house to a secret location in Northern California.

The Wedding Crashers star travelled in the back seat with his eyes shut as brothers Andrew and Luke watched over him.

Wilson, who split from actress Kate Hudson, 28, was taken to hospital on August 26 after reportedly cutting his wrists at his Santa Monica home.

His lawyer denied a drug overdose.

Film director pal Wes Anderson said yesterday Wilson was “doing very well and making us laugh”.

Kate Gets Brushoff from Owen's Peeps

Kate Hudson has been trying to get in touch with Owen Wilson in his time of need, but his family "doesn't want her anywhere near him."

Gatecrasher reports that Owen's ex has been "very frustrated" that she's getting the cold shoulder from the Wilson camp, but an insider says that the Wilsons "don't think Kate is good for him." The pair got together during the filming of "You, Me, and Dupree," but the relationship took a dive earlier this year.

 If Owen is the answer to the BI about an actor recently finding heroin & loving it Kate could be the one who introduced him to the drug.

I had heard just the opposite -- that it was his use that caused her to bail.

I can imagine that his family would want her to stay away -- if he went off the deep end because of her -- her coming around may give false hope and that would not be a "good thing."

I Want To Be A Sober Companion!

http://www.dlisted.com/

InTouch Weekly reports that Owen Wilson has refused rehab and is instead paying $750 a day for a sober companion. This sober companion lives with Owen and follows him everywhere he goes to make sure he doesn't fall off the wagon.

Owen has been in rehab twice before and believes a sober companion is the way to go. Friends and family are urging him to go back into rehab, but he has refused.

So all I gotta do is follow him around all day and all night? Sign me up! I'd be the shittiest sober companion though. I'd be like "Owen I'm bored. Aww fuck it, get your drinking dress on! It's time to get wet!"

I might have mentioned this early on in this thread but here's another reason to hope Owen recovers: he's not a bad egg. Not at all and in Hollywood, that's a rarity.

One of my best friends is close with a screenwriter (whom I know as well) who has worked on various projects. I believe Owen might have worked on one of his projects. Anyway, recently that writer's beloved mother passed away and NO ONE in the Hollywood community bothered to send him condolences except for Owen who also sent him a bouquet. This was well before Owen's recent suicide attempt by the way.

Word. I think Owen is a good guy who is very human and has his issues like most of us. Sadly, drugs are often a feature of many a good person's life that they just get caught up in. I have always enjoyed his movies, found him likeable, affable and quite grounded. Maybe he did lose his heart to this Kate Hudson but so what, it happens. Maybe it's all a story to cover the real issues.

There seems to be some rumours coming out now (and a blind item) that suggest he might be bisexual (or during his younger years, maybe not so much now), also hinted by Ted a week or two ago - though the actual chump on his back sounds to be depression (maybe manic/hereditary) coupled with Hollywood pressure/expectation and perhaps getting older, or a combination of lots of issues. He may see people happy and settled but can't do it himself for one reason or other. Maybe he has driven this woman away. We'll likely never know for sure. If he talks later on he'll probably be coached into what to say very carefully. But he seems quite a sensitive person and maybe not very strong, but still likeable. I think people want to see him get better. I liked your story. I could see him doing something like that easily, he does seem a sweet guy. He has that look about his face where you can see a twinkle that you know is genuine.

Ben Stiller Says Owen Wilson Doing 'Really Well'

Ben Stiller says things are looking up for his longtime pal and frequent costar Owen Wilson.

"He's doing really well," Stiller, 41, tells Ellen DeGeneres on her show Friday.

"I sort of like to protect his privacy, 'cause I feel like it's his own thing," says Stiller. "But he's a really good friend of mine. He's an incredible guy and I wish him as everybody does, all the best."

Wilson, 38, was set to begin shooting the comedy Tropic Thunder with Stiller this month, but was hospitalized on Aug. 26 for what police called a suicide attempt. He dropped out of the film after issuing a statement requesting that he be allowed to "receive care and heal in private during this difficult time."

Wilson's withdrawal from the project – which is about actors on a war movie location where a real battle erupts – was reportedly a mutual decision between him and Stiller, and Matthew McConaughey has stepped in to join the ensemble cast that includes Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr. and Nick Nolte.

Speaking at Thursday night's Westwood premiere of his and his son's latest movie, The Heartbreak Kid, Ben's dad Jerry Stiller, 80, expressed concern for his son's best friend and said he was "surprised" to hear of Wilson's apparent suicide attempt – but he was sure that Wilson would "recover."

"I know that he'll put his life together," the elder Stiller, who also costarred with Wilson in 2001's Zoolander, told PEOPLE. He added that his son has been "very close to Owen for most of their careers," and that Ben had been an "advocate" in "intervention and all that stuff."

Although it’s been reported that Ben Stiller had to (or chose to, who knows) fire good friend Owen Wilson from his upcoming movie “Tropic Thunder” after Wilson attempted suicide, it appears the two are at least on speaking terms. Stiller was on Ellen DeGeneres’ show on Friday, and said that, though he tries not to talk about it too much, Wilson is doing a lot better. I really hope reports that Stiller fired him aren’t true, as that would make him a giant douchebag, and a terrible friend. People have the right to react to a suicide attempt however they want to, but I can’t imagine anything that would be more thoughtless.

“Ben Stiller says things are looking up for his longtime pal and frequent costar Owen Wilson. ‘He’s doing really well,’ Stiller, 41, tells Ellen DeGeneres on her show Friday. ‘I sort of like to protect his privacy, ’cause I feel like it’s his own thing,’ says Stiller. ‘But he’s a really good friend of mine. So I guess they’re still going with the official “mutual decision” line about dropping out of the movie. That preserves everyone’s dignity. I wonder, when Jerry Stiller says that Ben has been an advocate for “intervention and all the stuff,” if he means in terms of Owen’s obvious depression, or his rumored drug/alcohol abuse. Hopefully Wilson will continue to get better, and has lots of loving and supportive people around him. As long as there are good people, he can get better and still have a really great career.

I hadn't heard or read any rumours about Ben Stiller firing Owen. Surely not ??? I mean, aren't they friends, and even if they are just work-buddies, no one would be insensitive enough to actually FIRE someone who had just tried to commit suicide.

Or is that what they call 'tough love' :)

Ben Stiller most certainly is a giant douchebag, but I am sure he didn't "fire" Owen Wilson. I'm sure they simply had to go forward without him.

That is what I thought it meant. Not firing, but not being able to wait until Owen is ready to work again.

As far as I know, Owen was only meant to have an uncredited cameo in the film. He'd only be on site for a week or so. They probably couldn't wait for him. Maybe Ben just made the decision for him.

Owen's Back!

http://www.dlisted.com/

Owen Wilson showed up to the Los Angeles premiere of his movie "The Darjeeling Limited" last night. He skipped the red carpet, but took the stage along his co-stars, Adrien Brody, Roman Coppola, Jason Schwartzman and Natalie Portman.

Hooray for Owen!

But let's talk about Adrien Brody. Damn that man is a full order of sex with Yanni hair. Yes he's wearing a suit usually only worn by drag kings, but he can pull it off. OK, I take it back. I've taken a second look. It looks like he stole his pants from Rita Crosby's closet. She'd totally wear those.

Dang these guys must all be short because Natalie is a little thing - even in heels!

Cheers to Owen and hopefully a healthy life-style comeback!

Hmm, yeah. She's supposedly 5'3''. I doubt she's wearing six-inch heels! If the stage is raked and she's standing upstage slightly ... but it looks like they're just in a regular line all on the same level.

Washington, Oct 13 (ANI): It seems that the troubled movie star Owen Wilson has taken solace in ancient Native American remedies in order to get rid of the depression that led to his suicide attempt.

The Wedding Crashers star was escorted by his brothers Andrew and Luke on the trip to Arizona where they saw the new glass walkway, which allowed the tourists to look directly into the Grand Canyon.

A bystander told the National Enquirer that it was on the walkway that a Hualapai medicine man performed a cleansing ceremony for the actor, waving sage over his head while dancing and chanting.

"They stayed on the platform for about 30 minutes - with the medicine man chanting and dancing the entire time. Afterward, Owen seemed happy, and he was chatting with tourists," the magazine quoted the bystander, as telling.

The actor landed in hospital after slashing his wrists after a reported booze and drug binge at the end of August, but is now recovering. (ANI)

Kate Hudson Wants Owen Wilson Back, Dumps Dax Shepard

Kate Hudson is reportedly trying to rekindle her romance with ex-boyfriend Owen Wilson after splitting from Dax Shepard.

The 'Almost Famous' actress is said to be desperate to woo back Owen - who was hospitalised in August after a failed suicide bid - after realising she still loves him.

A source said: "It was working out between her and Dax, but it's a clean break.

"After Owen's suicide attempt, she realised how much she loved him, and broke up with Dax."

Kate - who has a three-year-old son, Ryder, with ex-husband Chris Robinson - began dating Owen last year after meeting on the set of 'You, Me and Dupree'.

However, they split in June following reports they clashed over his wild lifestyle.

Pals of Owen say he was devastated by the break-up and was heartbroken when he saw pictures of Kate and 'Employee of the Month' star Dax canoodling while shopping.

Just days later, he was rushed to hospital when his actor brother Luke found him unconscious after slashing his wrists.

However, 'The Wedding Crashers' actor has made a good recovery and earlier this month, he attended the Los Angeles premiere of his new film 'The Darjeeling Limited'. © BANG

Is Owen Wilson off the wagon?

Now that embattled Owen Wilson is back in the public eye, it seems he’s exchanged his sober buddy for that alleged harbinger of human downfall, Steve Coogan. Won’t somebody please listen to Courtney Love?! Steve, you may recall, is the British actor and comedian whom ex-gal Courtney blamed for Owen’s emotional and/or substance abuse issues.

Steve and his legal representatives denied his alleged bad influence, and now Life & Style reports the “Night in the Museum” co-stars are hanging together once again, despite Courtney’s warnings. But Steve isn’t the only hard-partying pal Owen’s out drinking with, according to several L&S spies. The magazine reports that Owen “apparently suffered a major setback in his recovery from an August suicide attempt” when earlier this month, he allegedly drank heavily at the Viceroy hotel in Santa Monica.

This is the poop: Owen and crew partied privately in the hotel’s library room. “They had bottle service and were drinking vodka,” one witness claimed. What’s more, when Owen first arrived at the bar, “he looked like he’d already been drinking,” hotel guest Jamie Brandt told Life & Style. “He was stumbling when he came in and literally falling down when he left.”

Despite these accounts, one Owen insider said it’s not the drinking that’s the problem. The Wilson family views Owen’s obstacles “as a mental health problem as opposed to a substance-abuse issue,” the family friend said. “So Owen’s goal wasn’t to sober up, it was to feel better about himself.” And contrary to witness reports re: Owen’s Viceroy partying, the actor’s representatives insist he wasn’t drunk.

Owen Wilson's Lawn Mower Ride to Recovery

MONDAY OCTOBER 22, 2007 05:40 PM EDT

By Tim Nudd

If humor is the best medicine, Owen Wilson is well on his way to recovery.

The actor showed his comic side again, joining brothers Luke and Andrew along with Jessica Simpson, Willie Nelson, Woody Harrelson and Dan Rather for a lawn mower-riding competition in Texas.

The Bad Boy Lawn Mower Race, held at Nelson's homestead near Austin last week, was part of a music-video shoot for his new song, "You Don't Think I'm Funny Anymore," reports the Austin American-Statesman.

Photos from the shoot, featuring Harrelson and Owen Wilson in cowboy hats and action shots from the race, were posted Friday on a Nelson fan blog. The men rode red lawnmowers, while Simpson was given a flashy pink one.

It's the latest high-profile appearance by Wilson, 38, who’s recovering from what police called a suicide attempt last August. Earlier in the month, he briefly showed up at the Los Angeles premiere of his movie, The Darjeeling Limited, where his costar Jason Schwartzman said, "Owen is doing very well."

Willie Nelson invited friends and family to his ranch in Texas on Wednesday (10/17/07) to the first annual Bad Boy Lawn Mower Race. The race was filmed as part of the music video for Willie’s new song, “You Don’t Think I’m Funny Anymore.” Pictured above with Willie are Owen Wilson, Woody Harrelson, Jessica Simpson, Dan Rather, Andrew Wilson, and Paula Nelson.

Friends and Willie Nelson fans KG, Ruth, and Jan (RailRoadLady) all from Texas, got to go to the special occasion, and KG took these great pictures and said I could post them here.

Owen Wilson Gives First Interview – on MySpace

THURSDAY OCTOBER 25, 2007 07:20 PM EDT

Owen Wilson has given his first interview since his suicide attempt – to his longtime friend, director Wes Anderson.

In the interview, to be posted online Friday at midnight, Wilson talks with the director of his latest film, The Darjeeling Limited, as part of the MySpace Artist on Artist series, according to USA Today.

Wilson has been mum about the night when cops were called to his home for what a police report labeled an "attempt suicide" in August.

At the time, Wilson asked for privacy with a statement saying, "I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time."

There is no word on whether Wilson will address his recent troubles.

In September, at the Venice Film Festival, Anderson said that his friend was "doing well." He added: "When he's ready he's going to speak for himself much better than anyone else could. He has a very good way with words."

Wilson and Anderson have worked together on multiple projects, including Bottle Rocket and The Royal Tenenbaums, which they co-wrote, and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.
